    Chicken Biryani
    Erick L.

The Chicken Biryani was very good and they made it spicy just how I like it. The Chicken 65 was a bit disappointing. The chicken was dry and didn't have too much flavor. I do like the fresh new interior. Our server was friendly. My co-workers also enjoyed their lunch so we'll be back.

We came here for lunch and it was very good! All the dishes we ordered were packed with flavor. You have to order the garlic and cheese naan! The butter chicken has the right amount of spices, the Karahi Gosht was so tender and cooked perfectly and the goat biriyani was another dish everyone should try. We also got the vegetable samosa and puri cups. Benny, our server was the best. The ambiance of the place feels so much cozy and more like a modern than before. Adding this spot to our list!

Change of ownership in this case means a lot. Change of decor, change of menu and change of flavors. All for the good! We love vibrant and flavorful Indian food and that's what we got. The Pakora was well seasoned and cooked just right a very nice introduction to their food as it genuinely gave us an insight of the rest of the food that we ordered which consisted of the American staple dish when at an Indian restaurant which of course is Chicken tikka masala. The creamy tomato curry sauce was very nice and we ordered mild when asked about our preferred heat level and it was mild so for those who don't like spicy hot their mild is mild with virtually no heat. We also like the Aloo gobi and it too was bold and flavorful but not spicy at all but of course if you like spicy hot they'll make it that way too! We soaked up the tikka masala sauce with their tasty & soft on the top and slightly crispy bottomed garlic and cheese naan. The star of the night tho was the Tandoori Boti Kabob. Succulent pieces of moist chicken breast spiced perfectly and it was super flavorful. 10 out of 10 for sure. The new owners are super friendly and attentive which made us feel good. We will come back many more times to try their other dishes.

Tandoori chicken, goat curry, okra Bhinti, naan

For our newest local addition, I highly recommend Namak. From the moment we walked to when we left, it was thoroughly enjoyable. The food is perfection. From our pakora chart to our goat curry. Each bite perfectly spiced. Definitely try the 10piece chicken tandoori bohda at medium spice. My goodness, each kabob remained succulent to the last bite. The curried goat had the meat tender and not hidden by an over curried sauce. The Bhinti of okra gave us individual okra pieces yet not overwhelmed by sauce. The spiciness goes from mild, medium and hot. I like a good spice so the medium was just right. The plain naan was crisp in all the right spots and soft were it should be. The menu has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. The offer beer and wine but menu for that is still building. Bring your own or ask. Benny, the owner and our server, was warm, welcoming and just fun to talk too. It is a small dining room but warm and inviting. Good colors and not overly decorated. The place makes one feel at home.

We arrived around 8 PM and were welcomed with the same warm, energetic greeting you'd expect at opening time. Kumar, a young host, was absolutely the friendliest -- such a pleasant start to the evening. We ordered a bunch of dishes: veg fried rice (delicious), dal makhani (yum), jeera rice, a vegetable curry, garlic naan, pakodas (yum), chai, and mango lassi. But the standout was the veg chowmein -- it was bomb. It became everyone's favorite instantly and was the first dish cleared from the table. We even met one of the cooks who was super sweet. Bless you guys for being so amazing. This is seriously some of the best food around -- I'll definitely be back for those chowmein. Highly recommend!

Their popular items like the chicken tikka and tandoori chicken were already running low. They maybe refilled only once while we were seated and we probably would've eaten more if they refilled more frequently. Their naan is made fresh to order and you can choose between regular, butter, or garlic. I recommend the garlic naan! Chai tea is also included but you have to ask for it. Parking is free as well. Overall, worth trying and would probably go earlier than later when the food is full and fresh!

My friend from El Cerrito has been coming here for years and took me to eat dinner here but now a new owner has expanded the restaurant space and upgraded the ambiance. The owner greeted us and the service was top tier, friendly, fast and provided all that we asked for, which of course included some mango chutney. My friend had the Pakora dish with chickpeas and was very tasty and fresh. I had the chicken tandoori which has a Smokey tang to them and the jasmine rice and sauces were all excellent. My chicken was moist and juicy and came out steaming on a hot platter. The serving sizes were generous and the price was very reasonable. The owner offered some tasting of Free Kittens beer and it was also delicious and we ordered some. The beer selection is second to none and had my favorite oatmeal stout ! It was quiet and seating was comfortable. I had leftovers as there was so much to eat despite being hungry from moving furniture all day. The menu is expansive and the food came quickly, a definite return choice in East Bay off the beaten path.

It's been awhile since we've been to a lunch buffet at an Indian restaurant due to the pandemic so we were really excited this was here! The chicken tikka masala was delicious and flavored well. The naan served fresh was to die for! The best part about this place IMO is that when I asked if anything was spicy, they said no AND IT WAS TRUE. Usually at any Indian restaurant, I tell them, no spice - and its still super spicy :( But here, they were true to their word so I was so glad! I look forward to coming back here to satisfy a craving!

My friend and I walked 16 minutes because we were starving and didn't have a car. The reviews looked decent, so we figured it was worth the trek. As we got closer, however, we ended up on a street with a smell that could only be described as a warning sign from the universe. I told my friend, "If the restaurant is on this street, I'm not going in." Naturally, it was. My friend convinced me to at least give it a chance. We walked inside, and while the smell wasn't quite enough to send me running, it definitely wasn't helping build confidence. My friend was fine with it. Later I realized she was simply too tired to walk anywhere else. I ordered the lamb biryani, and she ordered the butter chicken. We also got what was advertised as a green salad. Calling it a green salad felt generous--it was more of an onion convention with a few green leaves attending as guests. The food arrived, and I was so hungry that I would have eaten almost anything at that point. I started enthusiastically. Then something magical happened: as soon as my hunger went away, so did my desire to continue eating. The butter chicken was the biggest mystery of the evening. It tasted nothing like butter chicken. In fact, I'm still trying to solve the case. Was it chicken? Was it butter? Was it an entirely new life form? The world may never know. The lamb biryani wasn't terrible, but it wasn't memorable either. The most memorable part of the meal was trying to figure out what exactly we were eating. There were only two other occupied tables, and they looked just like us--hungry tourists who had followed the reviews and were now silently reevaluating their life choices. As we left, my Indian friends' advice finally came back to me: "If you walk into an Indian restaurant and there are no Indian customers, keep walking." Sadly, my brain remembered this valuable life lesson only after I had already met the world's most mysterious butter chicken. Some lessons are learned the hard way. Others are learned 16 minutes from your hotel while carrying a to-go box you know you're never going to open. On the bright side, the walk there and back counted as cardio, and I left with a story that was more satisfying than the meal. for the adventure. for the food.
