This is a hidden gem. Indian people will know this place is the real deal! Not only is the food amazing, but the people who own this restaurant are part of a proud Indian lineage. Here you don't just get amazing g food, you get history and culture and love. I'm so glad this is Isla Vista. The young people of UCSB will gain so much more than great food. They will get family and love. The restaurant is humble and the beautiful spirit of India will be experienced here. It's like a vacation to India without leaving America. I hesitate to ever rave about this place because I don't want it to get overrun. read more

This place still hits the spot. Portions are huge, the food is tasty and hot, and the meat is good quality. They allow samples from the hot trays so feel free to ask if you want to try something. The food comes out quick and the service is prompt. It's the only Indian option in IV and it provides much needed variety to the area. I honestly forgot how satisfying this place is, especially during a cold night. This place is definitely more of a takeout joint but they do have a few tables. All in all, I will be remembering to come here again if I want some quick and tasty Indian takeout that is more affordable than any other option in the area. read more

Naan Stop is seriously a hidden gem. The food is always fresh, and you can tell they use high-quality chicken--not the frozen or rubbery kind you get at other places. I had the tikka saag, daal, coconut chicken curry, spicy garlic naan, and chai, and every dish was spot on. The flavors are authentic but still easy for anyone to enjoy, and the spicy garlic naan actually has a nice kick if you like spice. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. They chat with regulars and really make you feel at home. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they even have boba. Definitely my new favorite spot for Indian food. read more

I've been coming here for the last 8 years. I drive about 2 hours from LA just for the chicken curry, spicy coconut chicken, veggie rice, spinach, mango lassi, and garlic naan of course. This family owned restaurant is worth every mile and I can't wait to come back again. The owners are a sweet couple who make everything fresh from scratch daily. Very welcoming and delicious hearty meal! And they give samples! read more

This is my favorite spot to get Indian Food. have been coming here for over twenty years. In the heart of Isla Vista with cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, paired with delicious Chicken Masala and freshly baked Naan. Reasonably priced and great service as well. Great ambiance and always friendly staff. Thank you Sunny and Urmil! read more

This place is so good! The owner is so kind and friendly. It was great talking to her. The food is amazing, and really cool they sample it. Got the tofu and chicken of the day, but the tikka masala we sampled was great too. Have to get it never time. The chai was so flavorful. Garlic naan good too. Wish I could've gotten a photo, but I guess you have to go see it for yourself! Highly recommend :D read more

This place is pretty good. I just wish there were more options for choices. My indian spot at home had mango chicken & sweet coconut curry. They only had spicy coconut curry, and it's pretty spicy. But still very flavorful. The portion sizes could be better. It's pretty small. I ordered cheese naan for the first time here and it was pretty good. It kinda reminded me of a quesadilla with thicker dough. The service was quick and the women was really nice. The place is pretty clean and well kept. Nice ambiance. read more

1 Chicken 1 Vegetable Plate: Saag Paneer 8.58/10- so good, i love how creamy it is but not OVERLY creamy. Apparently the saag paneer has tofu instead of the cottage cheese, however I can't really tell. Chicken tikka masala 7.27/10- found it pretty watery unfortunately, however the flavor was still good. I wish it could have been a bit more spicy to add flavor. I felt like they didn't put that many pieces of chicken and also the pieces of chicken were kind of small. Also in relation to how much rice there is, so I feel like this could have been improved Garlic naan 7.48/10- some pieces were incredibly doughy, others very crisp. Pretty good, didn't have a huge flavor of garlic though but really good in relation to the vegetable/chicken plate read more

This place is so good. My friend who's married to an Indian man recommended this place. The servings are very generous. The food is great and the owner is super nice. He had me sample a bunch of different stuff. read more

This place was decent, but it's over priced. Not to add the owner has a attitude as she asked me not to pay with card for a small purchase because it charges them a fee, I don't know I just found that weird but her son is amazing and very funny. The first time I came here I had a pleasant experience, but that was because the guy help me out but when the elder lady helped me the next time I came, she definitely was not pleasant. The building only has so little seating but it doesn't get that much customers so you'll always have a spot. The garlic naan was terrible and explains why it's one of the cheapest things you can get, but the butter chicken was decently good. I wanna say my favorite thing was the rice which isn't good because when I'm going to an Indian restaurant I'm mainly excited for the garlic naan and butter chicken. read more

One of the few places in Isla Vista with FLAVOR. Naan Stop is a staple in this college town and we are lucky to have it! The food is full of big flavor, spices and quality ingredients - which can not be said about everywhere in IV. It's one of the few places I'd drive to IV for. The owner is one of the nicest people you'll meet and you can tell he truly cares about his business. His service, good energy and generosity is something we can all learn from. He makes sure it's comfortable, clean inside and ready to enjoy your amazing Indian food. Big fan of this guy! read more

This place is a good stop for getting an Indian food fix, esp in IV! I came here with my roommates for dinner and when we got there, we had a hard time deciding what to order. Luckily, I was offered samples and it helped me figure out what to order! The worker was super patient with me and kind the whole time I was figuring out my order. I ended up getting a 1 chicken 1 veg rice plate with butter chicken and saag paneer! I also ordered a side of garlic naan and earl grey milk tea. The portions I was given were more than plenty; my food lasted two meals! Everything tasted great and I enjoyed every bite! The boba in my milk tea was the perfect texture and the drink had good flavor, but was a tiny bit watered down. Other than that, everything absolutely satisfied my cravings. I will def be coming back another time! read more

I ordered Naan Stop from DoorDash; with that in mind this review is only reflective of the food. I ordered the 2 Chicken Plate (chicken curry & chicken Tikka). The food looked as though it had been through a dryer cycle. Sauce was dripping out from every side of the plate. The rice was very bland, although most white rice had a particular flavor, I could not taste it on this rice. Some of the rice was mushy at the bottom; most likely from being soaked in the sauces from the chicken. The chicken curry tasted somewhat bland with a hint of curry and tomato. The chicken tikka was overly creamy for my taste; however, some may want it that way. I was hoping that more spices would come through and tantalize my palate, but it was not so. read more

Almost yacked after trying their biriyani, vindaloo, & pickles.. i'd be embarrassed to put a friend on to indian food for the first time and it being this.. Food was delicious! Might need to have more of a kick actually, but it was definitely worth the price. They have something for everyone and multiple food and drink options. Catch me trying everythingggg on this menu. Chicken and vegan option so flavorful. Garlic Naan so soft, and airy. Everyone was so sweet, and hardworking, I could see them moving constantly, and everything was organized. The ambiance was peak, they had some music and some decor that was really cool, but I'm trying to find more music similar. read more

Owner cracked my windshield because he claimed I parked in his spot. There's no marking or sign plus I come here all the time, except today someone had parked behind me, blocking me in. Having to get back to work, I asked him to move his car to which he just rudely responded "you are in my spot." It was only after I left the lot that I noticed he had hit my windshield with something, leaving a large crack. Obviously never coming back here, the inside is dark and has weird vibes anyway. read more

I've been here before and I know their food is excellent. That said, today there were some issues. I went in and ordered paneer tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. When she rung me up it said saag paneer so I reiterated I wanted tikka masala and not saag, then when they were talking to eachother about my order again they said saag. I clarified again that wasn't my order, I wanted paneer tikka masala. They dished something out of a tray and gave it to me and I left. It should be noted that at the time I was the only customer they were helping. When I got into my car I realized they didn't put the rice in the bag so I had to go back and ask for it. Then when I got to my destination and started eating I realized it was tofu tikka masala, not paneer. The sauce is delicious but the dish still wasn't what I ordered. I do plan on going back, but today wasn't a stellar experience. read more

We were in SB for the weekend to visit UCSB and we got hungry after touring that huge campus for 2 hours! I was so sceptical to try Indian food I wasn't familiar with, but my daughter insisted we try Naan Stop. Omg this may be the best Indian food we've ever had. Ever. I enjoyed the Spicy Garlic Naan and the Chicken Tikka Masala! They both were OUTSTANDING. I don't have any pictures, but I need u to understand me! We may just drive back down there just to go, if she doesn't go to UCSB. Just sit with that... read more

10/10 food, 20/10 service. Amazing experience every time I go. Good vegan and vegetarian options. A must-see every time I'm back in IV.

The food here is amazing and so is their boba tea!! I got The plate with vegetable white rice, spicy coconut chicken curry and the chicken masala. Everything was good and you can taste the many spices they use in the food. I also ordered a jasmine milk tea with boba which I drank like nothing because it tasted so fresh. The staff who took my order was super friendly as well. I'm definitely going back this week again to get their food. read more

More of a takeaway restaurant but has some inside and outside seating. Decor is what you'd expect for takeaway. Many ready to serve dishes so the staff of two managed 8 of us plus the college customers in good time. They were very helpful and friendly. The food was awesome we had about all that was to offer. The Naan is fresh and must have. I had saag paneer and spicy coconut chicken plate. Awesome! read more

Naan stop's food is pretty tasty!! However, since only one person was helping customers when I was there, a long line formed since everyone was waiting for a large order to be completed. That being said, the worker was definitely doing his best and making multiple drinks as well. I won't be in the area anymore, but I hope they can have more workers helping customers at once! It was also super hot inside and there was only one bench with an umbrella outside. This place might be better as a take out spot. read more

The man who served us food was so kind and gave us so many samples. Complimentary Naan and absolutely life changing food. If you go to UCSB or ever are in the Santa Barbara area I HIGHLY recommend. Way better than any of the main stream food restaurants around here and filling portions! The tea is also so delicious, I love this place so much I wish I lived out here. Music playing in the restaurant is also amazing I love the vibes and decorations. I would drive two hours from LA just for this, it's completely worth it! read more

Great again Sunny. Thanks. They want 85 characters to the review. Cauliflower was wonderful.

Ok, I thought for awhile about writing a review about this place.. I have got to say.. I've read a lot of reviews written and most seemed to be good with problems pointing to a staff member... Well, I door dashed an order bypassing the hiccups that could ever be presented by the staff member... I ordered the jazmine rice and two entrees.. Curry chicken and coconut curry chicken. I grew up eating curry ( and no I'm not Indian nor Asian) Of course this is door dash so price is not to be really factored in ( it is what it is) Now I have got to say.... I've ordered several times from this place. The same items and the flavor was consistently the same. I've found this to be a hard to reach feat in Santa Barbara yet this restaurant succeeds at it. The curry is basic... You don't get standard fixes and trimmings that come with curry, ( onion, potatoes etc..) However..... They serve a good tasting curry chicken... Their is no denying this. (Fyi, just because you get curry seasoning in the grocery store and add it to a Dish doesn't it make it a great offering. It's a little bit more complicated than that) The jasmine rice I'm not used to eating curry with. it complimented the curry flavor extremely well. I will continue ordering from this restaurant. At this time I don't have a pic..‍‍‍ I always finish it before I can even find time to take a pic.. The dish always came the same visually I will update in the future with a pic read more
