This is a hidden gem. Indian people will know this place is the real deal! Not only is the food amazing, but the people who own this restaurant are part of a proud Indian lineage. Here you don't just get amazing g food, you get history and culture and love. I'm so glad this is Isla Vista. The young people of UCSB will gain so much more than great food. This place still hits the spot. Portions are huge, the food is tasty and hot, and the meat is good quality. They allow samples from the hot trays so feel free to ask if you want to try something. The food comes out quick and the service is prompt. It's the only Indian option in IV and it provides much needed variety to the area. I honestly forgot how satisfying this place is, especially during a cold night. This place is definitely more of a takeout joint but they do have a few tables. This place is pretty good. I just wish there were more options for choices. My indian spot at home had mango chicken & sweet coconut curry. They only had spicy coconut curry, and it's pretty spicy. But still very flavorful. The portion sizes could be better. It's pretty small. I ordered cheese naan for the first time here and it was pretty good. Not to add the owner has a attitude as she asked me not to pay with card for a small purchase because it charges them a fee, I don't know I just found that weird but her son is amazing and very funny. The first time I came here I had a pleasant experience, but that was because the guy help me out but when the elder lady helped me the next time I came, she definitely was not pleasant. The building only has so little seating but it doesn't get that much customers so you'll always have a spot. The garlic naan was terrible and explains why it's one of the cheapest things you can get, but the butter chicken was decently good. I wanna say my favorite thing was the rice which isn't good because when I'm going to an Indian restaurant I'm mainly excited for the garlic naan and butter chicken. read more

1 Chicken 1 Vegetable Plate: Saag Paneer 8.58/10- so good, i love how creamy it is but not OVERLY creamy. Apparently the saag paneer has tofu instead of the cottage cheese, however I can't really tell. Chicken tikka masala 7.27/10- found it pretty watery unfortunately, however the flavor was still good. I wish it could have been a bit more spicy to add flavor. I felt like they didn't put that many pieces of chicken and also the pieces of chicken were kind of small. Also in relation to how much rice there is, so I feel like this could have been improved Garlic naan 7.48/10- some pieces were incredibly doughy, others very crisp. this is my first time getting naan stop and i got the tofu tikki masala and it's one of the best things i've ever eaten. the tofu is SO succulent and i'm actually writing this review to make myself eat slower. (flatbread in picture is mine but i'm sure their naan is fire ). vibes in there are excellent too. i'm pescatarian and it's hard finding good affordable vegetarian food but this is so good. i cant wait to try more of their dishes. read more

I ended up getting a 1 chicken 1 veg rice plate with butter chicken and saag paneer! I also ordered a side of garlic naan and earl grey milk tea. The portions I was given were more than plenty; my food lasted two meals! Everything tasted great and I enjoyed every bite! I ordered Naan Stop from DoorDash; with that in mind this review is only reflective of the food. I ordered the 2 Chicken Plate (chicken curry & chicken Tikka). The food looked as though it had been through a dryer cycle. Sauce was dripping out from every side of the plate. The rice was very bland, although most white rice had a particular flavor, I could not taste it on this rice. Some of the rice was mushy at the bottom; most likely from being soaked in the sauces from the chicken. The chicken curry tasted somewhat bland with a hint of curry and tomato. The chicken tikka was overly creamy for my taste; however, some may want it that way. I was hoping that more spices would come through and tantalize my palate, but it was not so. read more

I've been here before and I know their food is excellent. That said, today there were some issues. I went in and ordered paneer tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. When she rung me up it said saag paneer so I reiterated I wanted tikka masala and not saag, then when they were talking to eachother about my order again they said saag. I clarified again that wasn't my order, I wanted paneer tikka masala. They dished something out of a tray and gave it to me and I left. It should be noted that at the time I was the only customer they were helping. When I got into my car I realized they didn't put the rice in the bag so I had to go back and ask for it. Then when I got to my destination and started eating I realized it was tofu tikka masala, not paneer. The sauce is delicious but the dish still wasn't what I ordered. Naan stop's food is pretty tasty!! However, since only one person was helping customers when I was there, a long line formed since everyone was waiting for a large order to be completed. That being said, the worker was definitely doing his best and making multiple drinks as well. I won't be in the area anymore, but I hope they can have more workers helping customers at once! Stopped in for lunch here with co workers as I have passed by here for years but never stopped in! The staff member working behind the counter serving was super kind and patient as I tried to order for the first time! I settled on the Chicken Rice bowl with Tikka Masala and it was super tasty! I also had Garlic Naan that is not pictured but that was some of the best naan I have had in a while! Everything is reasonably priced as well. This is by far the best food Isla Vista has to offer, and one of my all time favorite places anywhere. The service is very friendly and very fast, and the food is very affordable compared to any other similar restaurants I've been to. They are open almost everyday till 10pm so it is always an option for late evening food (I only wish they were open on Sundays too). Ok, I thought for awhile about writing a review about this place.. I have got to say.. I've read a lot of reviews written and most seemed to be good with problems pointing to a staff member... Well, I door dashed an order bypassing the hiccups that could ever be presented by the staff member... I ordered the jazmine rice and two entrees.. Curry chicken and coconut curry chicken. I grew up eating curry ( and no I'm not Indian nor Asian) Of course this is door dash so price is not to be really factored in ( it is what it is) Now I have got to say.... I've ordered several times from this place. The same items and the flavor was consistently the same. I've found this to be a hard to reach feat in Santa Barbara yet this restaurant succeeds at it. The curry is basic... You don't get standard fixes and trimmings that come with curry, ( onion, potatoes etc..) However..... They serve a good tasting curry chicken... Their is no denying this. (Fyi, just because you get curry seasoning in the grocery store and add it to a Dish doesn't it make it a great offering. It's a little bit more complicated than that) The jasmine rice I'm not used to eating curry with. it complimented the curry flavor extremely well. I will continue ordering from this restaurant.
