Quiet restaurant when we went on a Friday night - a few other diners and regular take out/delivery. Makes it easy to get in and parking on metered side streets go free early. It's table service and we went with trying their chicken seekh kabob and palak paneer along with jeera (cumin) rice and a paratha naan (naan that has been pan fried) to try. The chicken seekh kabob is well sized and good pieces of garlic in the mix (not raw). The palak was richer than we've had it elsewhere. The paratha naan fills a space that is neither of its namesakes. Will cost a little more than other counter service options nearby, less disposable ware with family style dining, and number of staff available to take care of you. read more

I had a Groupon and tried this place out today with my wife. At first glance, was not sure about the restaurant as was old and only one server. We ordered the Tandoori Chicken plate and Butter chicken. Naan, rice and Mango lassi too. All of it was good portion size and excellent food. We asked to have the Tandoori well done and they cooked to perfection. Don't judge a book by cover and food was very very good for this guy who usually eats at fancy restaurants. If you want food value and tasty food, come to this reataurant. The server was answering phones, waiting tables, and felt like he was overworked but he managed well. Basic looking locally owned Indian restaurant but the food isn't basic. It sure is easy to find Indian food in Rogers Park, and if you're looking for authentic stuff, you can get it from here. Naan On Devon is a little place visited mostly by Indians. Meaning, if they like it then it must be good. The entrees are just that and don't include naan or rice, but the prices are okay. About as authentic of Indian as you can get. It has that pungent Indian food smell as you come in. That better be the food I smell. Anyway, we got some authentic cuisine. The menu is full of lots of stuff. Chana Masala is her favorite so she got it. It's about $11 for entrees, which is a pretty typical price for Indian food it seems so I won't complain a whole lot about prices. The one I got was the Mix Sabzi. It's another vegetarian item. This is basically mixed vegetables. Both the entrees were good. The problem was they were only the main part and nothing else came with these. It didn't include naan. There was no rice. It's a couple bucks extra to get bread. Then a couple more for rice. Good as far as what we got. It would have been better to include naan or rice with it. White rice has always come with every Indian dish I've had over the years. Here if you order chicken do NOT expect anything else. I'm glad I decided to post a review, and saw my last one. I come here regularly. We eat chapati at home, and rather than making them at home, I order and get a whole bunch from here. I've tried many places but this place's chapatis are perfect. And even after freezing them, they're so good. And the perfect size! And the perfect thickness! I love the rest of their food too, especially the seekh and chapli kababs. Actually, everyone at home (even the picky eaters) love the kababs. I'll also get nihari, haleem, and every now and then, biryani. I order everything ahead of time, but when I get there, there are at least 3 to 4 items I wish I had ordered! I haven't eaten here -- we haven't eaten on Devon since the Pandemic -- so I can't comment on the tableside service, but whoever attends to me is always kind, polite, and prompt. And if I need to wait, they're very good at giving me a good estimate of how long. Oh, and I drive in from the north 'burbs, so this place has to be amazing to make that drive for food! read more

This place is not a fancy one but hole in wall kind like most of the places in the vicinity.The place is not huge but can accommodate around 40 people. We ordered garlic naan but ended up getting a normal one with 5-6 garlic pieces on it .Mutton kurma was good and its not really spicy so most of the foreigners would like it.Chicken biryani was good and Mutton biryani was little wet but the pieces were well cooked. The food was TERRIBLE. I am Indian and have Waterbury Indian food all my life. This was the worst and I do not exaggerate WORST food ever. The nans were like papad and the curry had uncooked spices and had so much spice they only burnt your throat. I know they would never give a refund so I won't even call them but if this was an American restaurant I would have called for a credit back. read more

I found this place on accident and love it. It's VERY small and easy to overlook. If you are seeking an authentic experience, this is the place to go. Nothing is fancy...at all. The menu is written with a marker on a poster board. I've never been to India or Pakistan, but I honestly thought I was there when I walked in. There is no fluff in this place. The portions are huge and it's rather cheap. The last time I went there, I had the biryani plate for $4.00. The plate came with basmati rice, naan, with biryani. The do have several combination plates and specials. But, as cheap as they are, they really don't need a special. They are open later than most of the other restaurants on Devon and worth making stop. Just look hard because it's easy to overlook. read more

They have severely decreased the portion size of Chicken 65, they probably give 60% of what they served before.It makes me sad that they give so much less now because $8 is not worth it for the amount the give you. They also boosted the prices on the platter by $2. One thing to note about the platter is that it's inconsistent. For example, you'll get two pieces of kabob one week, but the next week it will be replaced by chicken. The food is still delicious and still one of my favorites on Devon. Wanted Indian food so we thought, why not hit up Devon?? We thought we would go up there (30 min drive from Little Italy), be spontaneous, not rely on Yelp and just choose a restaurant. Well, after convincing each other that we should not trust ourselves in an unfamiliar neighborhood we both pulled up our Yelp, as usual. Anyways, this place had 4 stars and we also wanted something hole in the wall so we came here. This place was very good. We ordered: Curry lamb- Very tasty Haleem- It was a Sunday special. We didn't know what the heck it was but being the adventurous eater I am, I ordered it and loved it! Lamb chops- Very tender and it went great with the raw onions and naan. Recently went here with some friends with a simple desire for naan and/or samosas. And boy did we get some naan. The staff wasn't entirely friendly, nor were they rude, rather they were just rather busy than anything else. Anywho, the food was prepared fresh but rather fast and damn was is delicious. I got the chicken biryaki, one of my friends got curry, and my girlfriend got a spinach and cheese thing that I can't remember the name of, and then we all got naan. Everything was simply fantastic, very filling, and all very cheap to, with my meal coming out at only about $7. Then naan itself is huge and only 75 cents which I recommend above all else. Also their hours are from 2PM till 7Am making it a great late night munchie destination. P.S. Watch out for the bones. The meat fall right off but sometimes it slips into your food and gives you a tad bit of a surprise. Definitely recommend. read more
