Naamon is my hair hero! I've been to him several times and each visit went really well. Exceeded my expectations, actually.
He is a veteran hair stylist, so he's fast and really good, but he's also down to earth, friendly, fun to talk to and he is really willing to please. He will cut and color how you request, but he also gives good advice and won't steer you wrong. He can take 1 look at a photo and give you that style. If you ask for more layers, different style, etc. he is very accommodating and nice about it.
On my last visit, I chopped off about 10 inches of hair and went shorter than I have in years. Trust me, I was pretty freaked out, but I felt like I could trust Naamon. I asked him if he could take it off slowly, and he was so nice about it. He took his time and I'm thrilled with my cut! He even let me drink a beer to calm my nerves as I was making drastic hair moves.
He styled my hair at first with no product and minimal styling (just blow dry and tousle with his fingers) because he knows that's how I'm going to be with it at home and he wanted to make sure I liked it. I do nothing special with my hair and he knows this. This is actually a really great thing to do at a salon. I have been to countless hairdressers who fuss with a cut to style it really nice before I leave the salon, and as soon as I wash my hair I find that the cut is awful and the style just covered it up. Naamon made sure this cut will work for me and that I like it before he styled it and made it look salon worthy. This took extra time but I really appreciated it. He also gave me styling tips Ashe went along. Super nice of him!!
There's no ego or attitude here, like you find at some of the snootier and more expensive salons. The salon is tucked underneath the front of 24 Hour Fitness on Kapi'olani Blvd. and there's parking in the back.
I highly recommend Naamon. You have to call him for an appointment to make sure he's at the salon since he rents a spot there and is not sitting around waiting for walk-ins. read more
