It was super easy to make an appointment and she's pretty flexible with her days and times. The salon is on dillingham above a physician's office so I would schedule when they are not open. The salon itself is clean and has a nice ambiance, I did not feel out of place while hanging out on their couch waiting for my turn. Shana did an amazing job on my hair. I had a party later on that evening that I attended and I got many compliments. My scalp didn't burn and my hair actually smelled really good after getting colored. I will be back after this pandemic is over!

After dying my hair dark at home for about a year, I was ready for a change so I let it fade out. Let me tell you, it was orange! Not only did she absolutely transform my hair into the most beautiful, natural looking bronde of my dreams, she went above and beyond in every way. I have never been asked so many thoughtful questions by a stylist and never experienced so much attention to detail. It was obvious that she cared only about the final result being amazing and was willing to pour her time and effort into achieving it. Plus, she's so nice, inspiring, and fun to talk with, and was completely non-judgmental about the hair mess I walked in the door with. I felt so comfortable. Also - great location and easy parking!

On March 7, 2026, I went to MiO's Designs Barbershop in Kalihi with my 12-year-old son for a…read morehaircut and my 8-year-old daughter for a haircut and blue highlights. I checked in with the owner, Nick, and asked if his wife, Mio, was available to color hair. He said he would check and shortly after told us to come inside. I showed Mio a photo of the blue highlights my daughter wanted and explained we only wanted the dead ends trimmed. Before starting, Mio said she didn't have blue dye, only purple, which my daughter agreed to. After bleaching sections of her hair, Mio applied the color but said it wasn't turning purple, explaining she didn't know why and showing me the tube labeled "purple." She asked me to take a photo to show my daughter and see if she liked it. Mio then left the room and later returned, applying another dye without explaining the color, which turned out to be blue -- the color we originally requested but were previously told was unavailable. I asked if the first section could be corrected so everything would match, but Mio insisted it wasn't noticeable and encouraged my daughter to keep both colors. She said it was just a test and that no one would see it. I repeatedly told her we wanted it all blue. Mio said she would have to re-bleach that section, and I told her that was fine. She then colored the rest of the highlights blue but did not fix the part we specifically asked her to correct. After washing, the hair was uneven with light blue, green, and yellow/blonde tones and did not match the photo. I asked her to redo it because my daughter's hair looked faded and was not what we wanted. I also asked her to leave the dye in longer because I felt it had been rinsed out too soon. Mio initially said nothing would be perfect. After I asked a few times, she agreed to redo it. I also reminded her to color the section she had previously bleached but never corrected. After the second attempt, it looked slightly better but still was not the color we wanted. At the front, the total was $376. I explained that I wasn't comfortable paying that amount given the outcome. Mio then began yelling in front of other customers, complaining about having to redo my daughter's hair and saying she wanted to charge me more for it, even though she never mentioned any additional cost beforehand. I explained that it wasn't our fault she had to spend more time on my daughter's hair or use more product, since the issue came from the first attempt. The situation continued to escalate, and I became overwhelmed and started crying, especially because I had six of my children with me and had not expected to be there for so long. The owner, Nick, then stated that if I did not pay he would call the police. I told him he could do so because it was impossible to have a conversation while Mio continued yelling. The police were called, and I paid $250 so I could leave with my children. I've been a loyal customer here for years and have spent a significant amount of money at this shop, which made this experience especially disappointing. Based on what happened, I would not recommend getting hair color services here. The final result did not match what we requested, and the situation was handled poorly. I would also suggest reading other reviews before deciding to book.

When I was younger and had a good haircut, no one ever told me that. Another reason I love Yosuke is that he actually taught me something. Now I am taking his advice and most of the hair is remaining on my head instead of on the floor or in the trash can. My second time here at Salon Blanc was a disaster. My haircuts on December 16, 2025 at 1pm with…read moreAdam turn out so UGLY! I waited 20 minutes for my 1pm haircut, Adam seemed stressed and in a hurry when we finally started our haircut after 1:20pm, we went to the hair washing station, it was full, so he gestured me to go back to the hair cutting station, only to gesture me to come back to the hair washing station a few seconds later. Just gesturing me back and forth with his hand, no talking, no saying "please, or thank you", nothing polite about his gesturing. Being sent back and forth does not make me feel well-treated. Adam used all kinds of heating tools to make my haircut looked okay as I walked out of this "celebrity" Salon. When I arrived home to wash and dry my hair, it returned to its natural texture and it became a disaster. My hair became puffy and so many volume, that it resembled the shape of the letter "A", the shape of the Egyptian pyramid, it became the largest natural helmet you can imagine... a race car helmet! I calmed myself to wait a few days, maybe I will get use to it, maybe it is not so bad, maybe it will be okay, but everyday when I wake up to look at the mirror, I see my big helmet hair and want to cry! This disaster costed me over $100 dollars and $20 dollars in cash tip to Adam. Now I have booked another hair appointment with my old stylist to fix this disaster so I don't go to all the holiday parties with my ugly helmet hair, so that I don't want to cry everyday when I wake up. I also had to wait 20 minutes for my 1pm appointment with Adam. This so-called celebrity salon is not what it pretends to be. I don't feel like a celebrity, and I don't look like a celebrity, instead, my haircut at Salon Blanc made me feel unimportant for a long wait and UGLY!

Of course with the power of social media, I saw that my friend got her hair cut by Allen who was now at Ryanjacobie! I was excited to make an appointment with a groupon that I found for a deep-conditioning treatment + haircut for less than $50 -- what a steal! When I made my appointment, I asked who I was assigned to and I was told it would be Allen, yay! Following Yelp's directions, I took the bus and walked to where I was supposed to be but I kept circling around this one area trying to find the shop...the map said I was here yet it was nowhere to be found??? I read more about the location in the Yelp reviews and tips before I finally found it! It was literally right across Hawaii National Bank. The reason why it was so hard to find was because their sign was stolen so you could easily walk by without noticing. Thank goodness I'm an early bird because I still had 15 minutes to spare before my appointment time. Now I thought Allen would be taking care of me but instead Siera came out and said she would be helping me today. I was slightly sad because I was told Allen would be my stylist but it wasn't really a big deal since Siera definitely delivered as well! It was a bit awkward at first because there wasn't really any talking and she didn't really explain to me how the deep-conditioning treatment would work until I asked her. It was more of her telling me where to go and what to do. It definitely did get better as we started chatting. She helped me fix my previous haircut and made a miracle happen when she curled my hair and got it to stay for the night! I was in love and left the shop a happy customer.
