His website claims to sell "the finest, high-quality materials," but this stone didn't last a year. A stone expert confirmed it's low-quality with weak veining, and sealing wouldn't fix it. Jeff was asked to visit the site and advise on repairs--he refused and has stopped responding to calls and emails. Poor product, poor service, and absolutely no accountability.

I was thrilled, years ago, when they expanded into a bigger, new location opposite the fairgrounds. Product selection expanded, the store was large, well organized, and brightly lit; parking was easier, and hours of operation extended. Plus they had dogs in the store, which is always a bonus! They also had a full-service paint department so I decided to buy my paint supplies there. Shop local, you know? Unfortunately, their pricing was about 25% higher than I was paying elsewhere. When I mentioned this the owner, Frank, became irritated. I showed him my invoices. He then became angry, not understanding how I was purchasing less for retail than he was paying the franchise, or something along those lines. It was weird. So, I stopped purchasing paints there but did continue buy other supplies. Later, they moved to their present location which continues to have ample parking and easy access, as well as a decent selection of hardware and sundries, to my recall. As a bonus, they carry not only chainsaws, but chainsaw parts and supplies. At the time, the fellow who ran that department, Andy, was great- helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. One day, I needed a couple saw parts which he had in stock; it was his suggestion that I take all that he had, 4 or 5 pieces, and return those I did not need as it would allow his system to automatically re-order. So I did that... Unfortunately, returning the parts was just an awful experience. The cashier at the time, a lady with white/grey hair, could not have been more rude or angry, acting as though I were taking food out of her mouth or committing some sort of fraud by returning the parts as I had been advised to do the previous day. I recall her interrupting a conversation I was having with another customer, an acquaintance of mine, as she began to berate me and demand not only the receipt, which I provided, but also my drivers license to process the return- a purchase of less than $25. I have no idea what makes people think it's acceptable to behave in the manner she did. It truly was a distasteful experience. As a result, I have not entered the store or spent one thin dime there since- though I do purchase thousands of dollars of hardware and supplies, etc. annually. Instead, I chose to patronize another local business which appreciates customers spending their money with them, though it is less convenient for me to do so. Reading through the various reviews here, evidently I am not alone in my experiences.

Helpful, friendly, cooperative and most of all eager to please. It's so worth it to shop at Young's General Store than any big box store......by a country mile in fact. They're well stocked and if by chance they are low or out of something they can get it very quickly from their other store or at worst tell me when it's arriving from their supplier. These opportunist crooks have been gouging customers ever since the only other local repair shop…read moreclosed down.  I brought my Troybilt ride-on  lawnmower in here for a simple seasonal maintenance call.  I'd previously brought it to K&D Repair - who recently closed for good - for my tune-ups, which never ran me more than $200. Aside from the $90 fee "Bill" charged just to deliver my mower to his shop, he charged me $600 for a tune-up on a fully functional, relatively new mower!  When he saw the look of horror on my face, he added that, if I "couldn't afford that much" I could trade in my  lawnmower for one of the dirty, used, decades-old mowers for sale on his lot and pay him just $500!  Seriously??  Aside from fleecing folks in general with his wildly inflated repair fees, this wiseguy pads the bill up so high that many local customers simply cannot afford to pay, and thus, they forefeit their equipment there to him.  That's how he gets all the used lawnmowers that he parlays for more valuable ones -  which is the trick he tried to play on me.  I simply gave this shyster his $600 and a piece of my mind and I fled, never to return again. Please search high and low for another repair shop before even thinking of using these flim-flammers.

My fiancé and I were in Hudson this past weekend and made a beeline for Rogerson's Hardware. We had…read morebeen there six years earlier, before I got back into woodworking, so I couldn't fully appreciate this unique experience fully at that time. About 45 minutes to an hour were spent browsing through the incredible old/new - new/old stock (however it's referred to) and we had the pleasure of talking with Dennis, who answered whatever questions I had while gently rebuffing my attempts to buy things that were not for sale. I did however purchase a nice old file in new condition as well as an old, ornate drill bit holder which will proudly be displayed in my home shop. This store has a hazy, relaxed, out-of-time feel to it and is as relaxing and comfortable as any familiar place where one wants to get lost for a while and forget the loud, impersonal modern world in which we find ourselves immersed far too often.
