Okay, so majority of the items at this place is NOT cooked. It's all basic food and ingredients that you can put together quickly at home, but also, maybe you're having a lazy day like me and I'm cracking up. Jersey city DOES NOT have many good eateries. For this place to charge $12 for WAFFLES and then have an up charge of $4 to add powdered sugar and fruits that's pictured... $16 for JUST waffles - no eggs. No nothing. Are you guys out of your mind? This is milk, sugar, eggs and flour! I can source all those items organically for that amount then produce it multiple times. FOR ONE TIME!!! That's the charge? you guys are NOT that special.

My fiancé said this was the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had. He doesn't even really like breakfast sandwiches. Came on a busy Saturday morning and were able to order after about 5 min. Food came about 10 mins later. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating areas. Tons of vegan options. Very friendly employees who are happy to answer questions. Happy Nourish is in my neighborhood--we'll be back!

I came with really high expectations. I thought it was like a super healthy place that uses good ingredients but I'm not sure I got the James something smoothie and it was thick. So thick.. too thick. I ended up adding ice at home. If my beast blender was workin g I would have blended it again but sadly I didn't have it so I let the ice melt and it was still too thick so I ended up adding milk and cocoa. I felt like it was worth like 2-3 meals. I don't know how healthy or good the ingredient are cus I expected them to use good quality almond milk but it was one of the brands that were more common and have things that aren't as good. The nurish croissant was soooo good! It was really heavy though. The turkey bacon was the best I've tried. Service is good and location is cute. Parking isn't as easy to find and it is street parking. I gave 4 stars cus the sandwich but the smoothie would be 2 stars. Wasn't icy or anything...

Nurish sandwich + cold brew

Stopped by on a Wednesday morning to support this new spot in the Bergen Lafayette area! Instantly, the indoor space is so beautiful, open and welcoming. There's some minimal seating indoors & more seating outdoors. Went with a friend and I ordered the cold brew with the Nurish sandwich. Friend ordered the latte & a BLT vegan wrap. I honestly enjoyed the latte more than the cold brew but the Nurish sandwich I got was AMAZING. Every single bite was another moment of me being blown away. It got messy but honestly, doesn't matter. I got it with Turkey Bacon which I usually hate but tasted SOOO good. All the flavors meshed beautiful & adding some hot sauce on my own was the perfect cap. Staff overall were super nice! And one of the best things about this spot is how vegan friendly it is. Was so surprised with all the food options they had. Definitely recommend checking this spot out!!

Food: We ordered the Croissant Sandwich and the Crispy Farro Salad. The Sandwich was very satisfying. The crispy croissant held together well and supplied a welcome crunchy texture. I appreciated how the avocado, turkey bacon, egg, and chipotle sauce were arranged mindfully throughout the sandwich so each bite was packed with flavor. The Croissant Sandwich eats like a flagship dish and deserves the name the Nûrish sandwich. The Farro Salad was delicious our one note would be that the "crispy farro" was a little too hard (but it's listed as crispy so that is understandable). Inside: With just 2 two-top tables, a window side 3 high stool bar and an interesting reading chair, it may be difficult to snag a spot to sit and eat (additional two outdoor tables - it's 90* so possibly on a cooler day). On the other side of the coin, the seating is spacious so you won't be rubbing elbows with any other diners. A large handwritten chalkboard menu looms over the coffee counter and we had to acknowledge the effort to uniformly write out this detailed menu. Service: The young man that took our order was kind and knowledgeable about the menu and cooking method for our dishes (what more could you want???). The chef was polite and thanked us for coming. All around very good vibes. Enjoy!

Ordered the frittata and iced red eye. Frittata was a large portion and very filling. The ice red eye was strong and delicious. Great free WiFi with plenty of seating. Would come back again!

Sittin Pretty, Matcha Latte

I was extremely excited to try this place. The interior and exterior design are beautiful, and it was crowded with people catching up and grabbing brunch on a Saturday. However, the matcha latte with skim milk was oddly sour-tasting. I've never tasted sour matcha before and was worried that the milk had gone bad. The salmon avocado toast was good, but maybe not worth 16 dollars for the portion. Still, it was enjoyable to sit and do a little work while eating brunch.

Nurish knows their coffee! This location is big on making a perfect cup of espresso! They're using a Faema machine and have their espresso dialed just right. Their espressos have fruity notes, a heavy body with a sweet finish. If you're a fan of naturally processed beans, you'll love their espressos. Nurish has indoor and outdoor seating. They also offer healthy options of sandwiches and salads. If you're looking for a great breakfast or lunch spot, this is it. Remember to order and espresso!

This restaurant just opened in Jersey City's Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood. It's essentially an upscale cafe that serves vegan food, juices, and coffee. The interior renovations have a clean and modern aesthetic, and THE OWNER is very handsome.

32 oz. Brown Rice Bowl

Stopped in randomly for a bite. I feel like true healthy food places are hard to find. So when I stepped into Nûrish, I was excited to try something. The place is bright and inviting. It's small with a few places to sit and eat. They have the menu written on the wall and they have paper menus. I was surprised to see how extensive the menu was. There were a lot of breakfast items, various toasts options, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, salads, warm bowls, pastries and fresh juices. There were both vegan and non vegan options. I chose to have the Brown rice bowl which had brown rice, kale, mushrooms, hummus, red onion, carrots and I added salmon to the top. It was a pretty large bowl and very filling for a reasonable price. All of the ingredients tasted fresh. I also had the flu fighter which was ginger, cayenne, lemon, honey and hot water. That will Knock out any cold! Overall this is a great place to pick up a healthy lunch or early dinner. The service was great and the staff was friendly.

We are always so impressed. The Incredible food is all vegan! Their menu is full of so many options and they alway have specials. So many healthy options. I love their lasagna! Flavorful sauce that was creamy enough but not too heavy- better than some "fancy" vegan Italian restaurants I've had in the city. Also comes with a side of garlic bread. The mushroom empanada was very good- each piece is huge!! They are deep fried, and would be nice to have a baked option perhaps. The filling was really good- seemed like a mix of meat substitute and mushrooms. Also tried the vegan crispy chicken burger- portion was huge. Very nice sesame bun and "chicken" patty was thick and hearty. For dessert, got the strawberry cheesecake which was so-so for me. The texture was ok but the taste was not cheesecake-y enough for me. But it was still good overall. The slice was HUGE! Definitely for sharing. Also got the vegan gluten-free choc chip cookie which I really liked- crispy edges and chewy center, not too sweet. Everything was well-packaged and service was fast after ordering for pick up. The staff were lovely. Overall, Gaia & Loki left a great impression for yummy vegan comfort food in Jersey City, with very generous portions. The restaurant seemed popular and crowded, and has a nice casual vibe to it. Come with an appetite, and people to share with. Will return to either in person or order takeout again!

The dining room is spacious and with a nice ambience between the lighting and artwork of willow trees. For dinner - I had the whiskey BBQ brisket and fries. The texture and taste of the "meat" was fantastic. Most meat eaters wouldn't even realize that they are eating plant-based brisket - it was that good! Our server "Teddy" was attentive, informative, friendly - and with a clever sense of humor. The price paid was commensurate for the quality of food and service received. Vegans, omnivores, and explorers alike - should try Willow Vegan Bistro!

This sandwich is usually not something that is available vegetarian so i was curious to see the flavors and textures. The steak is chewy and meaty so if you are not a fan of faux meat then i would proceed with caution. I enjoy the cheeses here as they are unique and different from each other. The sandwich overall was okay though not my favorite sandwich ever. - smoked Mac and cheese (7/10): macaroni with smoked goat cheese, cheddar, mozzarella baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with vegan pancetta and breadcrumbs. This was a cozy appetizer especially on a cold day. The flavors of the cheese are rich and smoky with a hint of saltiness from the pancetta and breadcrumbs. I would have liked it to be a larger portion and offered as an entree. WOULD I GO BACK? Maybe. I liked the ambiance and the option to try dishes that are usually meat heavy but the cuisine is not my personal favorite.

They were selling margaritas outside at this event. Me and another dad just finished our margaritas and decided to walk into Pet Shop with our empty plastic cups to see if they could make any to go drinks. We were greeted by Jessie at the empty bar. I told him "hey we have these plastic cups....any chance we can purchase to go drinks for the event outside." He said no...which was fine. But then he reached across the bar and snatched the cups out of our hands stating he could not let us walk out with the empty cups we came in with. He could have asked us to hand him the cups instead of grabbing it from us like that. We were stunned for a minute that that actually happened. So after that happened I asked if I can use the restaurant's bathroom. Jessie seemed annoyed...looked at us up and down and replied "the bathroom are for paying customers only." We took it as judgement as if the other dad and I were some kind of peasants. We ended up purchasing 2 margaritas at the bar in order to use the restaurant's bathroom. The margaritas were good and priced good($10 each). The business was empty. Wasn't like he was busy. The bartender Jessie was acting like an a**hole. You shouldn't work in the hospitality business if you lack basic customer service skills.

No table service so you order at the bar, which wasn't a hassle at all. As the night went on (8pm) the music got pretty aggressive and extremely loud. I get that it's a bar, but there were probably 30 people inside and suddenly you couldn't hear the person sitting across from you. The food consists of typical bar fare, but it's 100% vegetarian. I like the loaded tater tots - they're nice with a few jalapeño pieces, the savory "meat", and topped with creamy cheese. I've definitely had better wing alternatives and vegan ranch sauce was not good. Lastly, we tried the pet shop tacos and they were mostly void of flavor in a dry tortilla. If you're a vegetarian and looking for late night bar food, perhaps this will do the trick. If you're looking for a good dinner and a couple drinks in a super laid back environment, maybe not.

They take pride in their restaurant's offerings, as they should. My server was wonderful, offering suggestions to this first-timer. I started with a Volcano Roll - hearts of palm substituting for fish. Well balanced and delicious. Next was broccoli "beef" - fresh broccoli and shitake "steak" with mushrooms really balanced the dish. I ended with something so unnecessary and so wonderful, I'm glad I did it: The sticky toffee pudding. Just pure delight. It was relatively quiet when I was there. I could see how it could get a bit noisy if it were crowded. But even so, the people who visit are friendly and I ended up having a great conversation with the table next to me. I'll be back. I'm not exactly local, but it's definitely worth the trip! Planta is on my faves list now!

So, from the vegan perspective, this is a popular and tasty place. We started with drinks, being lunchtime, we opted for non alcoholic drinks, the matcha colada and the salty maple macchiato. The matcha colada had a nice color but tasted mostly like coconut and pineapple which was still yummy. Friends ordered 3 different kinds of sushi and dan dan noodles with tofu. I was confused with the sushi as I thought vegans didn't eat fish...so yes I asked and was told that they probably made the "fish" with tapioca. I did try a bite of each roll (I was still full from the fest) and I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. They did a nice job with the roll and presentation. The matcha cheesecake was nice and creamy. I would not have known it was vegan. I don't normally like food that pretends to be something else because it usually doesn't live up to the real thing. The idea is that it is not pretending to be something but rather substituting with vegan options, I do think from a health perspective, I am more open to trying more vegan foods. Ambiance felt upscale and wait staff were helpful and congenial. I hear dinner time gets packed here. I may have to try again when I have not eaten already.
