I come here like once a month. My dad lives near by so is easy for me to stop by. I like the fact that they have a lot of employees to keep their inventory organized. The prices are ok it could be cheaper but I guess they have to pay their employees right Once in a while they will have everything 50% off on special holidays. I only shop for art supplies and always find a good sketchbook, pencils, markers, rulers, paint kits, canvases, even found a good human action figure for drawing. My holy grail item was a $200 rapidograph pen set from 1994 that was listed for $5. They also have decent 35mm film cameras. They have decent collection of books but I always find a person who is checking prices on their phone of valuable books to resell. They block the selection and will be there for a long time and you have to be assertive to get them out the way. I dont like how packed it is between aisles and people will walk around with empty carts and you have to squeeze through. They should have handled buckets instead of pull carts with wheels. The staff at checkout is a bit useless. You have to scan each item yourself and load them to your bag yourself. They only stand there watching you for security measures to make sure you scan each item. read more

It's always 10/10 for me when hitting up my favorite thrift store. Me and my bestie make it a ritual of ours to start the new year off by donating all stuff that dnt serve us anymore and bringing the new year in with new pieces. To my surprise this New Years Day adventure would lead to these beautiful REAL pieces I would cop from the thrift store. On holidays the store is always 50% off and you can find amazing deals especially if you're VIP. I'm elated at this jewelry find and even thou it's thrifted it still wasn't cheap because it's actual good quality. I still scored it at 50% off so I'm super excited. My best friend found sOME PIECES AS well including this 1960's vintage coat she is gonna kill it! I wanted to gate keep this gem so bad because now I will have to fight y'all off in there on holidays but I'm blessed and I wanna continue to spread the love. A. Bunch. Of. Stuff. I'm not sure if My Unique Thrift is a must-see, but it's really different from thrift stores I've been to. Aside from Unique being huge- it operates almost like a store- some self-check out lanes, some tended by cashiers, dressing rooms, jewelry in glass display cases, etc. Rounding up for this review because everything is sorted by style and the place is tidy. For instance: women's section has all Blouses, Sweaters together, Jackets on one side, Coats in another, etc. the same for men's and children. And kudos to Unique Thrift for not shoving the smalls with the mediums, the large with the smalls and vice versa. I truly love a good thrift hunt where I can pick up something that strikes me. But aside from its neatness, I didn't want to sort through a pile of stuff. Here's the thing... Unique Thrift was just that- and nowhere near Vintage or Antique enough for me as what I would've wanted. I did score a little Alligator or Snake skin black leather clutch for a few bucks and cleaned it with a leather cleaner at home. Unique Thrift does have its Pros and it's Cons- but I personally don't see this spot as a gold mine just because I've been to other Thrift stores where more thought is given to presentation. read more

Here is my mom's terrible experience with this store's manager (picture above). (In her Words) I've been shopping in this thrift store for over 10 years with no real problems. I met nice people and bought some amazing things. However, on January 1, 2025, my rolling bag was given to another shopper in error because the employee responsible for the checked bags failed to verify the number on the claim check ticket stub. Store management said they would look into the situation and review the camera footage. I gave them a week and returned today, January 8, 2025, to seek a resolution. My bag had not been returned and the store manager did not want to adequately compensate me for my loss. I told him I would pursue the matter in small claims court. He became condescending and belligerent and told me he would give me $80 dollars and that I was banned from the store. Needless to I was shocked and horrified. Banned from one of my favorite stores because my property was mismanaged. This manager is arrogant and rude and lacks professionalism. I left the store with my $80 and will never return again! read more

I fell in love with this thrift shop when I moved into the Inwood area. There were always great brands, clothes that were either new with tags or in great condition and lots of stylish items. For someone who is comfortable with going through racks and racks of different items, I find this location to be very organized. Everything has it's own section, there are aisles for dresses, pants, jeans, jackets, shirts, etc., all sorted by size. They have a great selection of bags and jewelry too! The best part are their discounts! They have amazing deals by color each week. Sometimes you'll find something you love at 75% off their already reasonable prices! The clothing was used and i would just see the employees just dumping the toys on the floor with no care. Most of the toys were used or were not even in the boxes that they came with. And NONE of the flashlights that were on sale there worked. The store is a mess and they don't even sort the clothes. Im pretty sure they just get used stuff from some random garage sale and the workers never pay attention. The stuff that came with the things were not together and just scattered wherever. While they're still semi-organized, some aisles seem a little in disarray mess from RUDE customers shifting & shoving things around, and the SCENT to sniff of funny aroma seems like moldy, stench of OLD stuff so OVERPRICED in just about all their NOVELTY & GENERALIZE things which can compare to newer items? They've gone extravagantly too exaggerated with outrageous High-MarkUps on USED & ABUSE second hand random products! While I support MIGRANT LABOR there is a particular HIRING of specific group that's not conducive to Fair Equal Employment for all ethnic populace which is somewhat controlled especially when a person's broken English is misunderstood lost in translation! I thrift at My Unique in the Bronx and I have found some nice things. The prices could be much lower but if I can not afford it I don't buy it. "This is NOT a thrift store for those in need". And I wouldn't trust the bags as authentic. The issue I have with my unique is being treated like a criminal when I go pay for my items. If you are going to stand in everyone's way while they are ringing up the items just go back to having cash registers. During covid (flu & cold season) they are too close and can be very rude at times. The cashiers behind the counter where the "luxury" items are treat you like they don't want to be there. It's amazing how you ask to see something and they roll their eyes when you don't want it once you look it over and see the price (which is always overpriced). Many of the older women that shop in the store are angry when they see younger people shopping in the store. FYI. They do take cash and card. read more

First, don't come expecting a mall-like store. It's a gritty New York Thrift store that thrives on quantity. Don't come expecting to be able to find the exact thing that you are looking for or at-your-service help. Once you can come in with this attitude, this place is great. I was checking out with an employee standing over my shoulder in the self checkout line. She watched as I scanned each item, and then when I placed it in the shopping bag I purchased, she would take each item out and rescan it herself. Incredibly demeaning experience to be accused of shoplifting. If the employee had used her eyes while standing over me, she would see each item appear on the screen as it was scanned. If they can't trust customers to us a self checkout line, they should pay for cashiers. Go somewhere where you are treated like a human being. read more

I can not be the only one who notice that about My Unique Thrift ! If you feel the same way let me know. so we all know, that each clothing piece has a Color tag, and we also know the three colors are heavenly discounted every single day. 75% 50% and 25%. So there's this one thing that I have been noticing for example : let's say color pink is 75% off today color blue is 50% off today and color yellow is 25% off today. No tell me why do all the clothing pieces with a pink tag will magically disappear from the floor?? You Might find a few pieces here and there but the majority is just gone. The same with color blue which is 50% discount it yellow is a different story you might find more yellow because it's only 25% discounted. I've went to my unique thrift three days in a row just to see if that's really true, and every single time when a specific color was 75% discount it it disappeared from the floor, because they want you to purchase things full price. Don't get me wrong even full price items are not extremely expensive but if you already go thriwimint that you will be able to save 75% it can be very disappointing if the color is just gone. read more

The merchandise is great, but the "managers" are terrible! Not only are they not professional, but they are genuinely mean people who feel entitled and who misuse their position to "punish" their customers. There is no loyalty or consideration for long-standing customers. They are not trained in good customer service, nor do they appreciate their main source of income -- the customers. Learn about good customer service and learn to appreciate the people who really pay your salary. You got it twisted -- the reason you even work at the store is because customers buy. I used to only visit the Brooklyn location because it was the closest to me. But I decided to trek all the way up to the Bronx since the bk location closed and I can't believe I waited so long. The selection is so much better; good clothes, shoes, jewelry!!! Omg so many earrings. Some of the prices are a little too much but since they have sales so often it's ok. Also I was having trouble using the app to access my birthday discount but the woman there (wish I remembered her name) was so beyond patient and helpful. The whole staff was actually. A+ for organization and volume. A- for handbag selection. I would A- for quality (most everything was in pristine condition). Vast amount of clothes and items. I would agree that it looks like a TJ Maxx more so than a thrift store. I give the design and fashionability (is that a word?) of the selection of clothes a Grade C. Things here are of styles long past, but you can still get some very basic items. Not the vintage cool kind of old style, but the "oh I forgot about that dress in the back of my closet from 5 years ago" or "this is the sweater aunt Suzie bought me for Christmas a few years ago" kind of old style. You can find the basic button dress shirt and slacks and etc here. Prices were not THAT cheap. I saw an Old Navy coat for $39 which IMO is way overpriced. The purses were so adorable and I wish I would have snatched this vintage boxy purse when I first saw it, but later I saw it in the hands of another. Oh well. Probably would be a great place on another day because seems they have lots of inventory that they kept bringing out, but unfortunately for me I took home nothing. I searched hard for something...anything to buy but there was just no love there. I would go again another day and as this is one of the first thrift stores that didn't gross me out, it definitely warrants another chance. read more

If you're used to thrifting anywhere else In the NYC area, don't bother with this place unless you like to look for old, overpriced things. The items here are individually priced - not priced by category like Goodwill. Unfortunately, that means a somewhat recognizable brand such as a French Connection dress goes for $25, a pair of Levi's for $25 and a Nike sport bra is $9.99 - thanks but no thanks, I'd rather shop the clearance rack at the retail store or Marshall's and get it brand new. And let's be honest, no one should be paying like $20+ for used small kitchen appliances. Do yourself a favor and get better quality and bang for buck elsewhere. For $19.99, I can shop Goodwill in Manhattan and get premium denim like Frame, Citizens of Humanity or Joes Jeans. They'd likely mark that up to $35+ at Unique. I will not be returning. read more

i started thifting about 3-4 years ago and didn't know it was such a big trend. This is probably the biggest thift spot I have ever seen and it was very organized. Aisles for activewear, outwears, pants, sweaters, buttonups, t-shirts, etc. It got better they have 50% off on all items on holidays which is practically giving everything away. The only issue its a cluster-fuck of people, it's chaotic. Advise going early and listen to the employees they are overwhelmed but helpful. read more

Buyer beware, this is not a charitable organization, they are out to make money. I have visited all the Uniques and this is the only location where the manager, Sam will hide certain items before a sale and then put the items back out after the sale especially if he knows that you are interested in that item but waiting for the sale to get the better price and to save money especially in this economy. I have never heard of a manager of any business doing such a thing? He acts like the profit is going into his pocket. Also a lot of their items are marked up as if you were going to a regular store to purchase them, this is supposed to be a thrift store with thrift store prices. Ugh, whyyyyyyy do I have to live so far away?! I stopped into this store during a visit to my cousin's house in the Bronx. I was on the hunt for some items for my soon-to-be-here baby boy. This has got to be the biggest and most well organized thrift store I have ever seen! And trust me, I've been to lots of thrift stores in my lifetime. I was traveling light this trip (just a carry-on and my purse) so I stuck strictly to items for the baby. Otherwise, I'd have spent hours in that store going through every rack and shelf! I spent a measly $23 dollars and got over $100 worth of stuff! 3 wearable blankets: 2 from Halo and 1 from Carters. Each of these retails for $20 a piece. The most expensive one was 3.99. I also bought a Baby Gap bunting suit, and countless Baby Gap, Old Navy, Ralph Lauren and other name-brand onesies. I live in CA. You New Yorkers are sooo lucky to have this place! I only like this place because the space is so strange. Everything is meticulously organized: the bric-a-brac is packed into plastic baggies and hung in the aisles; the relatively massive selection of cheap purses is neatly hung along a wall; all objects are categorized and separated so you can, for instance, browse through Easter baskets without being distracted by the Tupperware. You can also peek into the backroom and watch employees sort through new arrivals with assembly-line precision. Other than a single sweater and a collection of recipe cards from the 1960s listing classics such as fortified milk and a paella where canned tuna is the sole seafood ingredient, I have never found anything good here. Everything--clothes, décor, etc.--is either super mundane or kitschy in an appalling way. Plus, the price of the recipe cards was kinda exorbitant because Unique split up the set into approximately 1000 tiny baggies costing $3 each. Basically, I only come here because all of the unnecessary baggies and the organizing gives me a magical feeling like I'm stepping into a documentary about severe OCD. read more

AHHHHH !!! I love love love it here, I've bought so many skirts, shorts and blazers here and I always leave with two bags filled with goodies. My lastest buys were two pleated skirts that were $5 bucks each, a couple of shirts and two pairs of shorts, all for under $30 bucks it doesn't get any better than that. This is a great place if you know how to shop here. It can get very crowded, so it is best to go on a weekday. If there is a holiday, keep in mind there might be a big sale but the it will be mayhem to get through the aisles. The variety of merchandise is outstanding. There is vintage and also new items. The selection for children is maybe the only weak area. As this is a for profit chain, prices are much higher than a regular thrift store. They are especially high for jerseys, mens shorts, button down shirts and jackets and womens dresses. I have found great deals on a discount day and also for bric a brac, purses and books.
