My family rented 181 Dipsea for 2 months and because of the Coronavirus we got to see Seadrift…read moreRealty and the owner's true character. Cold greed like I've never seen before. The sort of character that makes your skin creep up, like you're watching a horror film. A few individuals I'd like to make you beware of are Mr. O'Connor (owner of 181 Dipsea), Ashley and Betsy (both from Seadrift realty). I couldn't put their full names because of Yelp's policy. I'm writing this review, a day after being forced to move out and risk transmitting Covid-19 to my father, with no where else to go. A "shelter at home" order and "moratorium on evictions" has been put in place by the Governor of California. My dad is one of the highest risk categories of death for the Virus according to his cancer doctor, the CDC, and the World Health Organization. Here are some details that I wanted to make future renters and the Stinson community aware of. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic center. Our family was in shock but we moved into a charming house, 181 Dipsea, while he began his chemo treatments just over the hill from Stinson. At first everything was ideal, the house was charming, birds flying around in the lagoon, soft waves crashing on the beach, my dad could relax from the mental and physical exhaustion from one of the most lethal cancers. My dad then decided he'd like to spend his days in Jackson hole because of new developments with the Coronavirus. We ofcourse moved him there even if that would put our family through financial strain. I stayed at the Stinson house to close it out and pack our things before our rental contract was over. Then the Coronavirus became a harsh reality around March 11th globally. Because of how novel the virus was, even the cancer doctors were grappling with how to communicate to their patients. It wasn't until a few days before our rent contract would end on April 4th 2020, that our cancer doctor recommended to our family through a Zoom call that I needed to be quarantined for at least 7 more days after the rental contract was due (14 days since last possible exposure). When Mr. O'Connor, Ashley, and Betsy heard of our precarious situation, they showed their true colors. Here are a few quotes from Mr. O'Connor: "Certainly you can quarantine as you wish elsewhere, and if that is not to your taste I have nothing to say about that, which is your issue, not mine." "Accordingly, if you persist in holding over, we expect remuneration at a rate of $500 per day, our normal rate in April. If you do not pay this amount through Seadrift Realty or otherwise, we will have no recourse but to institute a lawsuit against you to collect this amount plus court costs." I've attached both his first and second email below and removed full names as per Yelp's policy. There are a lot of amazing and good people in Stinson and owners of Seadrift properties. But based on how this situation was handled, I believe the community and future renters, would be better without the evil from Betsy, Ashley and Mr. O'Connor.

Great original style has been maintained (or "retro" if that's what you'd rather call it) and perfect for a couple like us or you're traveling with another couple. It had all the comforts of home and even had a bocce court out back, which we weren't home enough to use. We never encountered the neighbors on either side so no complaints there. The only "complaint" is the windows are original so they're paper thin and you can hear traffic and even bugs knocking up against the windows. This wasn't in any way enough of a deterrent to keep me from booking here again in the future. Owners were great to work with and answered questions in a timely manner, which I'm discovering after years of renting private homes is a rarity! Perfect for your Napa vacay!

Every time we have rented the entire process has gone smoothly and there haven't been any issues. You drop by and pick up the keys and they give you directions to the place you are staying. Everything is provided that you need. Most of the rentals come with a spa, BBQ, and many other accommodations. Rentals are reasonably priced and there are so many to chose from, so there is one usually available!

I have stayed at the Straus Home Ranch twice now for teacher retreats and I cannot say enough…read morepositive things about it. The home is historic and full of love. The family history here is compelling and part of why we chose to stay here- it is a privilege to be part of the Straus family's world, and to see the land that Mrs. Straus fought to preserve. The home is comfortable and lends itself to so many great memories- we enjoy conversations in every nook and love retreating to our rooms for much needed rest. The views around the property are stunning. One of my stays was rainy and that was equally delicious - this natural invitation to hunker down and read and be present. Michael is a wonderful person and host and has always shown us such kindness and openness. It is great working with him to set up the place prior to our arrival, from extra requests to making a fire pit for s'mores. This place holds a special place in my heart and I would come back more often if I could afford to - it's a great treat. You will love it.

They had our hearts within minutes of meeting them, and we quickly learned that their warmth was matched with deep event planning expertise, lightning fast responses to all manner of inquiries, and a general willingness to do absolutely everything within their power to make our wedding seamless. We can't say enough positive things about Vivien and Michael. We had heard planning a wedding would be stressful, but largely thanks to Vivien and Michael, we honestly never felt stressed. They regularly welcomed us to the ranch ahead of our wedding, helping us build a special bond to the land and to their family. They worked so effectively as a team, helping us find lodging, answering questions on behalf of our other vendors, thoughtfully navigating asks related to honoring recently passed family members, and so much more. During the wedding weekend, Michael bent over backwards to make sure everything ran smoothly, always beaming with a huge smile. His soft serve ice cream was such a big hit! It was always such a relief to see Michael, because we knew he was fixing something we didn't have to worry about, or making something work better, or just thinking 10 steps ahead to make a future moment run smoothly. He is exactly who you want at your wedding!! We had the wedding of our dreams and we can't imagine a better place or better hosts for this special moment in our lives. We plan to visit Straus Home Ranch regularly and will loudly sing the praises of Michael and Vivien everywhere we go, because we're convinced there is no better place on the planet to host a wedding.
