    I returned to Mystic Momo. I've been working my way across the menu. This time, I picked the beef Momos because I've never had pink Momos. They are a thing of beauty. It seems the meat makes the Momo wrappers naturally turn pink. They're a tad spicy. I thought they were delicious. I ordered them to go. The young woman who rang up my order and handed it to me did sp with a smile. The shop has a bright, clean and cheerful decor.

    "Mo, Mo, Mo, how do you like it? How do you like it?" With apologies to those who recognize where that's from. Though my answer here would be "Steamed." I'll order momos any time I can find them on a menu, and these rock! In this convenient-to-downtown location, the inside is cozy, the staff are friendly, and the food comes out fairly quickly and well made. There are other items on the menu, but the momos are king here. Bring friends if you want to order several types to share varieties, each order comes with 8 and their sauce. The momos themselves have a slight kick to them, and the sauce enhances the flavor. There's a decent choice of beverages, though I'm not sure tap water is actually an option here. No matter, I'd love to come here as often as I can.

    I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had some time to go pickup takeout. I ordered two different kinds of momo, the jhol with mushroom momo and the kothey with beef momo. Both were fantastic. I really enjoyed the beef momo especially, and the sauce that came with it was delicious. While not quite as good as the beef, the mushroom momo was still very tasty, and a nice vegan option. I also really enjoyed the broth that came with the jhol. The woman who served me was very friendly and I only had to wait a short time for my food to be ready. All in all I'd say this place is a great option for a quick and simple, but delicious meal.

    I just heard about a Nepali restaurant in Albany and I had to give it a try. It's right at the beginning of Central Ave in Albany NY in the old Trustco Bank location. The restaurant is tiny but the yellow toned walls remind me of a Caribbean or Mexican restaurant. As I observed the multi colored flags are a common decor in a Mexican and Nepali restaurant. This restaurant has 6 to 8 tables, with views covering Townsend Park, homeless people on Central Ave and some brick buildings on Washington Ave. The restaurant is well maintained and clean with good friendly service. The menu is limited. If it's working and the owners are making money, no comments and skip through. If they are looking for some recommendations, I would probably have them add more menu items as the food was flavorful. We ordered: combo set which comes with chowmein, fried momo and steam momo. Best value Jhol momo: almost tastes like minis in lentils soup. But the soup is made out of a tomato base.l which is spicy and tangy Chili momo: was my favorite, my son who can handle spicy food was sweating, this dish is made with stir fried chilies, onions, bell pepperane tomatoes. You have a variety of choices with the filling inside the momos. Vegetarians can choose from mushroom, veggies or chives. Meat options include pork, chicken and beef. In addition they have the chaiya, which is a Nepali tea. It's different and if you like bubble tea, you may like it. It's milky and sugary tea with some spices. There are only a limited people who have passed the tea making test, ones my friend, a masala tea on a train journey in India or me, myself and I. I would recommend the restaurant and probably be back again. I wish the restaurant owners the best of luck with a lot of restaurants nearby shitting down. I did see a couple of yelp-ies at the restaurant as well

    What an incredible spot in Albany! I've never had Momo or Nepali cuisine at all, so I was really excited that it's available here in the Capital Region. My friend and I decided to order a little bit of everything. We ordered the Chicken Kothey Momo, a pan fried Momo that comes with a tomato and sesame based chutney, the Beef C Momo, a stir-fried version with chilis, onion, Bell pepper, and tomato, as well as Pork Jhol Momo, a steamed version served in a warm soup with tomato, sesame, peanut, garlic and spices. All three were incredible! It was hard to choose a favorite. There were 4 or 5 tables for four people, so there was a good amount of seating, and it was comfortable to dine in. I'm looking forward to returning to try more things!

    Mystic Momo opened in July, becoming the capital region's first Nepalese restaurant, and I was so excited to try it out! As a huge momo lover, I was thrilled to see their incredible variety of dumplings--from momos in soup to chili momos (my personal favorite) and even chow mein. Mystic Momo's menu offers so much, and everything we tried was phenomenal , including their mango lassi and chai . We had the Johl Momo, Kheema Momo, C Momo, Fried Momo, and their chow mein. My favorite was definitely the C Momo--sweet, spicy, and tangy, just incredible. The Johl Momo and Kheema Momo were also insanely good, offering unique and delicious flavors. I still need to try their classic steamed momos to compare them to the ones I've had in India. The restaurant also has 6-7 tables and is well maintained, clean, and great service. Overall, as a momo lover, I'm thrilled this place is not only delicious but also super affordable! I was telling my partner that we need to try to visit at least once a month hehe

    I tried them for the first time this week. I got the momo combo and it was 4 steamed chive dumplings, 4 fried and a side of veggie lomein. I did not care for the orange sauce... it doesn't pair well with the chive imo. The chili sauce was great. My favorite thing was the veggie lomein. I didn't care for the taste of the steamed dumplings. It was my first time trying them. I tolerated the fried ones but I just don't think they're my thing. I will try the mushroom ones next time. The lomein was spectacular. Dont expect fast service, I hoped this meant my food was cooked to order lol. I look forward to trying other things on the menu.

    Do you like dumplings? The Nepalese version are thin skinned and more crumbly meat than Chinese. This version had some kind of gently spicy peanut sauce. I went at an odd hour (330pm) and they were made fresh, not reheat. It's a bare bones place, with only a few tables. 2 public parking places close by - I hate circling, looking for a space. Total was $14.50 with tax for the plate. You can also up size your dish to 12 dumplings if you are hungry. I think it is a nice option.

    Mystic Momo is small Nepalese restaurant that limits its menu to a select few items. It is located on a busy street, Central Avenue, and parking may be a bit of a challenge. Inside, there are six tables (5 four tops and a "deuce" in the corner) and an ordering counter. The restroom is also in the corner, which, weirdly, has a fob to permit access. The fob is given to you by the cashier at the counter. This restaurant may be getting more traffic due to a recent article being published by a local magazine. I'm glad to have come across that article because I've never had Nepalese food before and was now excited to try it. Family run restaurants are awesome. There is a comforting feel about them. During my visit, the proprietor was behind the counter and a relative, aunt/mother, or friend was assisting him. He was really nice but I didn't want to impose so I left his co-worker alone. Anyway, on the to-go menu today: Beef Momo (Jhol) and Pork Momo (Kothey). Apologies in advance for comparing distinctly different cuisines but I hope it provides a frame of reference. Momos are dumplings which can be filled with meat, vegetables, or paneer. They remind me of Chinese soup dumplings without the soup inside. The dough is thicker, more substantial, and it holds up, more or less, even after being pan fried. The filling remains moist due to the fat content in either the ground beef or pork and it is also generously seasoned like a seekh kebab. Jhol is a soup made of tomatoes, sesame, peanuts, garlic, and spices. I found it to be very good; it had a slight tang mixed with the sweet richness of sesame and peanuts. Kothey is pan-fried to make crispy-bottomed momos. If you like fried dumplings, you won't want to pass on these. I had a quick question on the color of the beef momos, which have a pink hue to them. The proprietor said they add a little bit of food coloring to the dough to distinguish the beef momos from the others. It's not traditional but it is efficient for a restaurant. Side note: the chili sauce served on the side is no joke. It packs some heat. With the combination of a family-feeling restaurant, nice and efficient owners/workers, and carby, stick to your ribs cuisine, this place is really good.

    What a flavor bomb this food is!! We stopped for a quick bite for lunch and got the sampler, which included 4 steamed momos (a Nepalese dumpling) , 4 fried momos, and lo mein. We had fried pork and steamed chive momos. Everything was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor, and freshly made. The pork momos were crispy and generously filled. The chive momos were tender and yummy. The lo mein had great flavor as well, and loved the two spicy sauces on the side. Everything was a bit spicy but we love spicy food! We can't wait to go back!

    The food was good. The small 8-piece is likely enough for one person. I love supporting a small family owned restaurant and trying new food!

I often judge a Chinese restaurant by the quality and taste of its Hot and Sour Soup. This soup was excellent in comparison. The broth was a good balance of flavors. It was just spicy enough. It had fresh mushrooms and tofu. Five Stars for the soup. When I saw the check later, I realized it was included free with my lunch. The Singapore Noodles was a large portion, but disappointing in that I could barely detect the yellow curry. The rice noodles needed more sauce or spice! The chicken strips were tender. There were onion pieces as well as scallions in it. Three Stars. But I will return. There are many booths in the restaurant as well as a long row of connected tables in the center for large groups. The restaurant was clean. One booth had four men who spoke only Chinese to the server. That is a sign that the food is good here. Server was efficient and helpful. Parking is right outside of restaurant in a strip of businesses that incudes Saigon Spring, a favorite.
