Husband and I tried tonight after all the hype. Tons of grace is sprinkled over the post, I get it, they are new to town. We ordered: Godzilla roll, spicy crab roll, shrimp cucumber roll and steak filet diner hibachi with nOodles instead of rice. The taste of the rolls were good, no complaints. The rolls were not cut even and the rice wasn't distributed. You can tell someone was new at attempting sushi rolling. We also sat near the sushi bar and watched as sushi rolls were completed and put on bar to be served, some waited there as long as 15-20 minutes waiting to be taken. We requested spicy mayo and eel sauce. Both were served with meal but not homemade or of high quality. We had to ask for extra dishes for soy sauce. We sat down at 6:10, ordered 6:25 and were served by 6:35 sushi and hibachi by 7. I ordered the steak medium it came out well. The meal was warm and the noodles dry, like it had been sitting. The portion wasn't generous for $26. We requested yum yum sauce, served, wasn't a fan, not homemade and was very sweet. Overall, we would eat sushi here again. but not hibachi. This is just our observations. We will come back. You should definitely support local business and try out for yourself! We are very picky with our sushi. read more

Surprisingly good sushi for the area. The simple rolls are affordable- between $5-6 which. They tasted fresh, so I'd probably get sushi there again. Our waitress was very attentive as well. The only downside was that the sushi took long to come out. We went for lunch and it probably took a half hour for our rolls to come out. Additionally, they call the other menu items hibachi, but just note that there are no hibachi grills where they physically cook the food in front of you. Overall, the food wasn't bad and I'd probably return. Only downside is that the food takes a while to come out. read more

Not Impressed With The Food and Worried About the Politics We ordered Hibachi chicken, a California roll and a Tempura Shrimp Roll for carry out. I entered the restaurant and discovered that I was the only person wearing a mask. The unmasked woman in front of me asked if there was enough Soy Sauce and she was promptly given extra packets, extra napkins and extra chopsticks. When I went to check out, I told them I had just arrived, was staying in a hotel and needed chopsticks, plastic ware and extra soy sauce. The unmasked bar staff in charge of take-out orders looked in the bag and told me I had everything I needed. Turns out I didn't. I did not have near enough soy sauce for two rolls and a large serving of chicken and rice. I'm not saying that I was targeted here for sub-par counter service, but I was the only customers to show up wearing a face mask. None of the staff or management or any other customer wore a mask (coming or going or picking up takeout). I would hate to think I was treated less kindly for wearing a mask. The Hibachi chicken was very dry. The Tempura Shrimp roll was almost tasteless and soggy and the California Roll was uninspired. read more

Our sever Alan was prompt and friendly. Food came out quickly which was a plus but I noticed that the food was never hot. We ordered the calamari, the hibachi chicken with fried rice and the hibachi shrimp with noodles of which none were hot. Awesome place and great food! Came to Jim Thorpe with a friend to walk around town and to stop in the shops and we ended up at Myst for dinner. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. The staff were super friendly and personable. We started with some appetizers (not pictured): edamame, miso soup, clear soup, and Spicy Kani Salads. All fresh and delicious. I got chicken pad Thai and shrimp cucumber rolls and my friend got a Philadelphia roll, Boston roll and Myst roll. Everything came quick but was fresh. The restaurant has a fun, yet comfortable, vibe and features local artists' work. They also have a cool outside patio with outdoor seating! 100% would recommend and can't wait to come back. read more

This place is fantastic! My family & I came here our first night staying in Jim Thorpe & everyone loved their meal. My sister got sushi but the rest of us got different hibachi meals. I got the red snapper, which I've never seen offered at any other hibachi place, and it was amazing. Tender & flakey. My mom got filet & lobster & raved about it as well. I love that they give the option to get noodles, rice or both. I picked both & the noodles were delicious & are another interesting touch that I haven't seen at any other hibachi place. The portions are also huge, I could have taken home essentially another whole meal, that's how big the portions are. Our waiter, Rob, was very friendly & helpful as well. Knowing it was going to be too much food I was going to take some home, however it was not good. It came with a soup and salad to start. The house salad was 1 cucumber, some shredded carrots and lots of lettuce drowned in dressing- I didn't eat it. The clear soup was ok- but mostly not flavorful. The hibachi was a large portion, the vegetables were good and that's it. The fried rice was ok but also didn't add much to it. The chicken was extremely dry and hard to eat, which just left me not wanting to eat it. Overall I would not go back to this restaurant. read more

This place is a must visit if you're in town! First of all, I wasn't expecting the cocktails to be so impressive. Most Japanese places in my area are byob and those with a bar usually have sub-par mixed drinks. Myst has some seriously delicious (and potent) libations. They have interesting combinations, too. I started with the cucumber mint cocktail and was extremely happy. The mint was fresh and the balance of simple syrup was spot on. I got a drink with muddled jalapeño that was also yummy. The four of us shared the veggie tempura and gyoza starters and both were great. I ordered the scallop roll and myst roll. The scallop was soft and pillowy--perfect texture. The myst roll was amazing!!! It had real blue crab, a little cream cheese, and asparagus and was topped with smoked salmon. The salmon was very flavorful, asparagus was tender, and the sauce had the perfect kiss of heat. My husband ordered the sashimi deluxe dinner, which was the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The fish was served in big chunks, but was a little dry. The chicken hibachi my friend got was very good and was an extremely generous portion. Our server was wonderful and the ambiance was great. What was even more exciting was the service and quality of the food for the price we paid. Steak teriyaki was top notch. Salmon was a little dry, but still delicious. I have tried Myst a couple of tries before I decided to write my review because they were new and still trying to work some things out. The hibachi is plain. I ordered my steak medium to medium rare and it came out well done and cold. The yum yum sauce they give doesn't have any flavor to it at all. The sushi is okay. Not my favorite but also lacks taste as well. The BEST thing on this menu is Rock Shrimp. It's amazing. Tasteful and something I recommend getting. The service is okay. The staff is very friendly but aren't that attentive. I work in the restaurant industry and was all around disappointed with it here. If I continue going here it's because of convenience. The name alone is a red flag of an aimless fusion restaurant helmed by clueless fans of "Asian food" (appropriators ahem) who only succeed in the capitalization of the talent of their sushi guys. It's offensive, tone-deaf, and just plain embarrassing. They have no business trying to make this food -- they can't do it. They rolled up the history of a whole continent, sprinkled it with dew, and dropped it in the toilet, which is what you will do if you eat here.
