Our group of 8…read moredid the Boardwalk room, which is designed to look like the boardwalk with walk up games and a pizzeria. There were a lot of puzzles and locks for us to figure out, so we all had something to do at any given time. There was only one puzzle I would have to say wasn't particularly intuitive, but we had so many people with so many points of view that it didn't even slow us down. They currently take online reservations only and they unlock the front door fifteen minutes before your start time, so take that into account. The strip mall they are in is extremely run down, but there is a nice bar next door to enjoy a celebratory drink when you're done.

The building may not seem like much on the outside but as the saying goes, it's what's on the inside that counts. The staff was friendly and helpful and the experience is worth every penny (we booked a private room). The decor of the room fit the puzzle perfectly and the authenticity was a little spooky (which was perfect), it wasn't cheesy looking but rather made you feel like it was all real. We chose the hardest room, the Vampires Lair. From the moment we stepped through the door our hearts were pumping, because like I said the setting was spot on. The quality of craftsmanship created a fully immersive atmosphere that added to the excitement. I couldn't believe how much team effort it took to do one of these but I will say, regardless of the group dynamic going in, this experience will force you to work well together (if you want to succeed). Sadly 2 people bailed last minute so we only had 4 people and despite failing (we didn't make it by 2 puzzles arggg) it was so much fun but here's a small tip, make sure you have at least 6 people. My biggest tip is to remember it's a game and if you want to enjoy yourselves choose the right spot, this one, East Coast Escape Room, because quality counts and this was definitely a memorable activity.

Our puzzle master, Jamie, did a great job of explaining the process before we got started, and I do appreciate that the door is unlocked so you can come and go as needed (didn't have to, but I remember when that wasn't the case!). We did the Witch's Cauldron, which was a really fun room to work with. Of course without giving anything away, everything was pretty clear in terms of what was next, and clues came way in handy when we asked for them, which was easily done by just saying so while looking at a camera. I think this was their newest room, but the first one I'd been to. I thought it was really well done, and everyone was engaged throughout. I especially prefer the rooms where there's a lot that needs to be done, so people can split up doing stuff rather than everyone crowding around one puzzle. I'd love to try another room there sometime!

The rooms are $32 per person (no discounts for children or weekday pricing), and with tax the total price for the three of us was $102.36. David was our game master and did a great job of explaining everything to us before we started and quickly feeding us clues during the game when we asked. We did the Egyptian Tomb: Imhotep's Curse because it felt the most like we were in Indiana Jones. I wish we had known there were actually two rooms, so that I might have budgeted my time better and asked for clues a little sooner. Alas, we did not escape the room(s), but it was still a great experience and it was all very well designed. I think we are all itching to come back for redemption, so we'll definitely return and give one of the other rooms a shot.

Escape the Puzzle is an awesome escape room with seven themed rooms where you get 60 minutes to find clues, crack codes, and solve puzzles to escape in time! My friends and I did the carnival theme room which was medium level as far as difficulty goes. But I will say this is one of the harder escape rooms I've done! Thankfully we got unlimited clues (at least carnival room did, unsure if all the rooms are like that)! Something to note: if you have a physical disability, or don't like tight spaces, the carnival room may not be the best choice for you and I would speak to the owners for more details as to not spoil anything. I highly recommend bringing a variety of people as each room can fit at LEAST six players (some can fit more). And what makes this place even cooler is that the owners created the entire game themselves. Every room, puzzle, and little detail was completely designed by them. You can really tell how much thought and creativity went into the experience. Made it very personal and helps this business stand out more among the many escape rooms in the area. Perfect for friends, family, date night, or a team outing--Escape the Puzzle is the perfect indoor activity you didn't know you needed. Think you can escape?! Enter if you dare!

The 1 hour always flies by as we were trying to figure out all of the clues. We chose the Speak Easy puzzle which was great. We had to ask for multiple clues to get started however, once we got in the groove it was smooth sailing. The speak easy room was 4/6 difficulty so it made for a fun time. By the end of the session we were exhausted from scrambling around but it was worth it in the end. We were able to complete the puzzle however, the last two clues did not work so the staff had to come into the room to help us. From her knowledge they just redid that room and all the clues were not set up correctly therefore, we could not truly complete the quests. Overall, it was a good time. Great team building exercise. I wish they made sure the room was fully functional prior to allowing customers to book that space for the 1 hour session. I recommend checking this establishment out if you are in the area. Cheers!

The lobby area is pretty spacious with comfortable couches, and the rooms were simple but immersive. We purposely chose two of the easier ones (The Antidote and Budapest Express), and both parties were able to escape, despite multi-tasking as parents. The Antidote might have been a bit TOO immersive as the older girls were scared. The staff was attentive with the clue giving & walked us through parts that were known to be difficult. Doors were unlocked the whole time in case young ones needed a potty break in between. It was great to find an activity that we could enjoy for ourselves and with kids! It was also nice being in the Bell Works metrohub that we could make an evening out, exploring shops & eats, and running around the bit spacious place. I plan to come again!
