This company just stole $100 from me! I paid for 3 tickets earlier today. I had a family emergency and was not asking for a refund but only to change the time. I was then told that i was not allowed to talk to the manager. The kid on the phone said i don't have permission to speak to the manager! This company stole $100 from me!!! My wife and I have been to many escape rooms. I would say this particular escape room we did, escape the bar, was simple. It was a one room escape room and it was kind of whack. However, we did manage to have fun and the staff was friendly and patient. We arrived late due to childcare, but the staff worked with us. They allowed us to play in another block since nobody else booked instead of wasting our money. They made it a point that we had fun. I would try another room here. If you are experienced with Escape Rooms I would not recommend coming here. The Google Reviews are very positive but the Yelp rating is definitely more accurate. We did the Bar-themed room. The room design was too simple, there was no story, and outdated clues are still present in the room (which was not made clear before we started). Some of the puzzles and locks were faulty. I recommend that this place get a major update/overhaul to keep up with newer/better rooms that are opening. read more

Update as of 5/15/2017 - I am not going to change the 2-star review portion because the place is still lacking in so many ways, but I will say this --- my friend forced me to go back here to allow it to redeem itself. It did. Slightly. Mob Hit was 100x better than Pirate Ship. The room is so new that they have yet to "green sticker" the entire place (see below)! And we use a phone instead of a tablet for clues! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am now understanding the less-than-stellar reviews on this place. There is so much room for improvement. They have the space to create a masterpiece, but lack the ability to deliver a solid escape room experience. My friend and I signed up for the Pirate Ship. Keep in mind - this was the 2nd hardest room out of their 4. We were solo, which is always a plus since we work well together and have tackled 20 or so previous rooms. As well, we never opt for the easier rooms. A 20% to 30% success rate is usually our sweet spot when signing up. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of positives for this place. The props were worn and falling apart, most of the puzzles were outrageously difficult, and we practically needed a hint for most things. All in all, we asked for 5 or 6 hints, and we usually only need 2 or 3. This is so frustrating, especially since we were informed at the end that we "did better than about 85% of people that try this room". EIGHTY-FIVE PERCENT?! That is NOT a compliment. All that says about the room is that it is insane and best of luck. Cons: 1) They deliver clues on a tablet vs. a screen or walkie-talkie. Sounds like a cool concept, right? Wrong. Upon requesting a hint, the clue master would ask things like: "Have you opened XYZ lock yet?". Dude, there is a video camera pointing right at that lock. Clearly, we have not opened it. The back-and-forth waste of time to get a clue was comparable to texting with your grandmother that had just upgraded to an iPhone. 2) When I say the room is almost impossible, I truly mean it. If you pride yourself on doing escape rooms without using any clues, and can successfully handle this one, you should probably see if you qualify for Mensa. 3) To piggyback on #2 - no escape room should ever be proud of the fact that "every group usually needs a lot of clues to make it through". Well, our clue master seemed pretty proud of it. I get that the point of an escape room is to challenge you, but to stump you so much that you need a bunch of clues to even escape? Uhm, no. 4) "Do not touch anything with a green sticker". Let me just say - there were more green stickered items than touchable items. Green sticker overload. It turned the fun of exploring an escape room into "can't touch that, can't move this, can't do anything". I'm sure that I could go on-and-on, but I'll stop here. It's too bad that the only local competitor, East Coast Escape, has just 2 rooms - one easy and one hard. This was great! We did a little girls night with my sisters and mom. We had a great time! First time doing an escape room and we really enjoyed it! We did the Pharaohs Tomb (beginners). It was challenging, a little creepy but super impressed! read more

We did this room last night. It's very difficult to find off the road. They hardly plowed their parking lot. Very disappointed in this after the other locations we've done. It's extremely expensive, and comes without all the bells and whistles of every other escape room. None of the clues made sense, we had to keep our coats in the room with us and continuously had to get clues throughout the hour. They also weren't watching us as we were going. Other escape rooms have a monitor and the worker outside the room types clues throughout. This one we had to call on a phone and tell them where we were in our solving. Also, one of the clues was a phone, and after two attempts with a code, it locked it for 60 minutes. This setting should be turned off the phone. I do not recommend this escape room as it is definitely a huge waste of money. $93 for 3 people. Total loss. Will not be back here read more

I went again and this place is still awesome. The price is great, and the staff was very fun. You can tell they enjoy their jobs, so that makes the atmosphere significantly livelier. Overall, great experience! Do get there early though, the place is a litlle hard to find. read more

This place was really cool. The outside seemed a little quiet, but inside it was great. The host was very friendly and direct. We did the easy room, which was difficult having never done one before. You get an ipad to use if you need help, and I like that they only helped when we asked. We got to do pretty much everything without guidance. Ever have such a bad experience and think I wish I'd check the reviews before coming. This is that place. I have played many escape rooms across NJ and this one is by far one of the worst. Place was dirty and run down. Puzzles didn't make sense at all. Clues were very confusing when given and puzzles didn't flow well together at all. One thing I hate more when playing an escape room is when an employee has to come into the room because a puzzle/lock isn't working and ruins the immersion (if you call flea market items immersive). I have never written a review before but for this place I had to. I have done about 30 different escape rooms in north jersey. This place claims to be the best in all of New Jersey. It. Is obvious this owner does not play escape rooms. Their room was dirty and puzzles were obsure and lacking. The rooms have no story. We played the mob hit and it was awful. The whole game did not make sense. Only reason I went here was I wanted to see of that claim was correct. Just looks like a tag line to trick people to come. I'm always a huge fan of any and all escape rooms, however I did not enjoy myself at this one. First, we were not allowed into the room for about 30 minutes upon our arrival. The staff were friendly and apologetic, and I get that things happen so that was ok. However, in the room they use a tablet to communicate, and sometimes it took 2-3 minutes to get a hint, or a question answered. When you're locked in a room for 60 minutes, that 2-3 minutes can make a difference! The game master also came in halfway through and "dropped" something that she had forgotten to set up. Was very poorly managed. We purchased a yelp deal, and they did not allow us to apply it to our online order (the yelp purchase told us to PRESENT at the place). They told us yelp would handle it, which yelp explicitly says they do not. Now we're in a place where we're probably out ~$50. Definitely better places to spend your money! read more
