My experience here was not great at all. I went in for an annual check-up looking to obtain new contact lenses and a back-up pair of glasses. With Insurance I expected maybe a hundred dollar copay or so after all was said and done (as my experience has been with other optometrists in the past.) The woman who provided my consultation even assured me it shouldn't run much over $80. However, I ended up leaving there that day having spent $500, even after insurance on a pair of glasses that I won't ever even be able to wear because it distorts my prospective differently out of each eye causing headaches, and a year supply of contact lenses which caused me to have essentially the very same problems and felt like sandpaper in my eyes. At the checkout stand the lady running up my bill provided me with an assortment of upsells, which I hadn't realized I'd even been upsold until the bill was all rung up, as she made each sound vital with no mention of any costs or any details about what I was being handed.
I left from my first visit with nothing to show aside from a free pair of plastic sunglasses (which the insurance company paid an exorbitant price for,) and which are also about the same quality as a gas-station pair of sunglasses. My regular prescription glasses arrived about a week and a half after my original visit, and my contact lenses about 2 weeks thereafter. So after multiple different visits, I ultimately got vision products which caused me more vision problems than I ever had before visiting.
The whole process during my original visit felt rather rushed, and all too overpriced. MyEyeDr. essentially milked $1000 out of me and my insurance company for a pair of prescription glasses and 12 pairs of contact lenses; which, I don't recall having ever been offered a choice of anything less than 12, or as they called it a "year's supply" of contact lenses (which I definitely would have opted for less knowing that I could get the same contact lenses through other vendors for a lessor price.)
My individual needs and concerns seemed very low on their list of priorities; their number one priority it seemed was to grab as much money from me as they could feasibly get away with while offering as little in return as possible.

I went back in for a re-examination after a couple of weeks or so of trying to get by with the terrible vision products that I'd been issued in hopes to get the prescription sorted out correctly, however they sent me to the exact same optometrist who couldn't get the job done right the first time. Sure enough, things didn't work out so well for me the second time either, he essentially refused to switch out the lenses in my glasses which I paid for, saying it didn't matter that they caused me headaches or problems with prospective because they still gave me 20/20 vision (I would never be able to safely drive wearing those glasses, so again they're completely useless to me.) I was at least granted to have the same prescription in both eyes for my contact lenses. So I tried that out, thinking that my eyes would eventually adapt, and that the redness and irritation caused by my contact lenses (issued to me a second time) would eventually end. I endured for a little over a month or two before I finally couldn't stand it any longer and decided to go see another Optometrist.
Finally, after going to an altogether new optometrist unrelated to MyEyeDr, they found that the prescription given to me by MyEyeDr was about 3 prescription levels too strong and that the lenses were in fact the wrong curvature for my eye. So, that explained all the problems the contacts given to me by MyEyeDr had caused me.

It's been several months since I first wrote this review, although, I recently decided to change my review from 1 to 2 stars because when I called them asking if I could trade the 6 remaining boxes of contact lenses I had from them--which caused me all the problems, for my actual prescription--prescribed by my new optometrist, they sent me 8 boxes of sample contact lenses in my true prescription. So that was actually a pretty decent gesture (even though they likely get those sample contact lenses for free from the contact lens companies.)
Nice gesture, and they were pretty nice about it all on the phone, however, it really doesn't add up fully to all the money that I spent, and all of the grief that I experienced by going here. I still recommend looking elsewhere for your vision needs. read more
