I've been taking my kids for 6 years. They accept Tricare insurance. Very responsive. Even work with you on contact comfort.

This place is awful. My wife is a customer here (or WAS) and recommended I make an appointment for…read moreone of our younger kids who wants to make the leap to contact lenses. The first sketchy element is that the link my wife kept sending me kept taking me to a google search with an alternate name. It appears that they do business under two different names which is kind of shady. But the big problem is that when you try to schedule an appointment on their website, it asks you to choose three different times. This is really bad because in this area many people have jobs and families and you can't just bank on some random time MAYBE being available. So I tried to call in the morning and nobody answered. I tried to call again in the afternoon after I made the appointment and again nobody answered. This was for an appointment the next day. I got two auto-texts saying "sorry we missed your call" so I replied to the texts saying I have a job and four kids and I can't be left hanging on these appointments, and this is a bad first impression after my wife recommended this place. I get a call back FIVE minutes after that text from a someone sounding like a sorority chick who just got dumped by her boyfriend. Huge attitude immediately. She's like "Those are just APPOINTMENT REQUESTS, SIR! We have ONE appointment at 7:45am tomorrow." Okay, well the appointments I thought I signed up for were 2:15, 2:30, and 2:45. So I calmly asked why the website listed 12 appointments for tomorrow and 18 for the next day if none of those were really available. And she just kept replying to everything I said by getting increasingly loud and obnoxious so I finally said, "well I guess I will go to another practice then," and before I could even say thanks and bye, she hung up on me. After this conversation, a lot of stuff is even weirder as I think about it. If the appointments are "just requests," then why were there "no requests" listed today, "12 requests" tomorrow, and "18 requests" the next day? That's totally nonsensical because if nothing is guaranteed then why list ANY times that are definitely not available??? And if you're going to list some times, why not list them all? Still the worst is just the rudeness. If your instant response to someone texting that you made a bad first impression but TRYING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION BY SETTING A FIRM APPOINTMENT is to call them back in a haughty tone, then perhaps you should not be employed in customer service. Or, maybe the front desk person was out today and I was called by a doctor. But that just makes things even worse. Anyway, imagine potentially gaining 5 new customers (the rest of my family) and instead losing one (my wife) with just one phone call! Amazing. Anyway btw I got an appointment at MyEyeDr in the Boro same day today and they were actually nice...

If I didn't pay for it, "...then we might have to dilate your eyes..." to continue the exam. I didn't appreciate the implication that I "might" require my eyes to be dilated...but that if I paid an extra $39 then I wouldn't. Doubt I'll be going back there. And it's unfortunate because I've been going there for years without this exam. Anything to make more money I guess.

7/31/26 What a difference three years has made. The last…read morereview I wrote was a one star. If I had it my way, it would have minus five star. Good thing it wasn't up to me. As of today, the experience at MyEyeDr Of Vienna was outstanding. Meeting Dr. Edward Papie and Lab Consultant Connie was a very wonderful experience. It was nice to see the equipment for the eye exams cleaned in front of the customer(s) before being treated. One small task but super meaningful to the guest(s). Dr. Papier is very down to earth and I liked the look of the scrubs instead of a doctor in a suit. Consultation Connie McAllister (last name made up) was helpful explaining the costs and the discounts that were given because of my health insurance. Now I will say my eyes have change just a bit. Mainly my eyes are having trouble reading up close unless I remove my glasses. The exact condition...terminology escapes me right now. Nevertheless, Dr. Edward Papie explained what was going on and how to correct this change of eye sight. When the meeting with the Dr. Edward Papie concluded, I was introduced to Consultant Connie McAllister. Connie reminded me of someone I worked with long ago by some of her mannerisms. Connie was helping someone ahead of me so I waited patiently. The wait time did not take very long. While waiting, I saw a young woman who Consultant Connie was helping. The young lady I saw appeared to be watching my every move. Now whether she was actually watching me or not, I like the idea of being watched. Consultation Connie finished with current client and was now able to concentrate solely on me. Connie explained the costs, type of lenses and transitional lense color I wanted. On this aspect, I have to say transitional lense colors have expanded in color choices since the two original colors of brown and gray were offered. I decided to go back to the amethyst transitional lenses I originally had. The first time I aquired amethyst lenes, I was unaware they existed until aquiring them by accident. Consultation Connie repeated back the order I wished to obtain. After receiving my conformation on the oder, Consultant Connie placed the order for my new lenses. We are now approaching one week since ordering the new lenes. I look forwards to seeing what these new lenses can do. Removing my glasses to read up close again and again is getting rebarbative. Two more weeks to go.

He had great bedside manner and took some extra time to explain why he was performing certain tests or asking me certain questions. The front desk was extremely kind and efficient and I was in-and-out with a year's supply order of contacts in the mail and a few extra packages to get me through the next few days. Parking was easy and it was not too busy which means I'll probably make my next yearly appointment here as well. Highly recommend.

If not for the care of Dr. Mitchell and his staff, I probably would not be able to see well enough to work any more. As a long term patient, I have been seen by most of the technicians and both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Morin. My visits have been both routine checkups and emergency visits when I have had problems that needed immediate care. Without fail, they have identified what needed to be done and delivered a treatment plan that worked. At one point, Dr. Mitchell referred me to a specialist for a rare condition with serious health implications. I liked that he knew his limitations and was comfortable sending me to a subject level expert. When I researched the person I was referred to, I was pleased to learn that I was being sent to one of the best in the country! I have always been treated kindly and with respect. The doctors and staff listen to what I say and give thoughtful responses. They are really the best!!!

Dr. Mitchell is awesome…read more So 4.5 years ago I had him do my ICLs, which were fantastic because, as someone with vision in the -10 to -11 range in each eye, in addition to dry eyes, I was not a LASIK candidate. Those ICLs made it so that I didn't have to wear glasses anymore, and could see just like everyone else. Hooray! But then about 2 years ago, I had a corneal lesion (don't ask, you NEVER want to have one of those-- SO horribly painful) and that (likely) set off a downhill slide into ... CATARACTS. Yes, a 38 year old developing foggy vision, especially in the left eye, where I'd had the corneal problem. By the time I was 40 (earlier this year), my left eye was completely fogged and useless and my right eye was halfway fogged up. It was like looking through an opaque fogged up shower door all day long. I couldn't see squat. 40 year olds aren't supposed to have cataracts! Grandma and grandpa are! Well, in swoops the gallant Dr. Mitchell to save the day, yet again. During surgery, he pulled out the ICLs and the fogged up natural lenses and gave me crystal clear new lenses and now I'm seeing better (mid-range and distance) than I ever have. EVER. Even with the ICLs. (The reason for that is it's always better vision the fewer lenses there are - so natural + ICL is going to be worse than just natural.) Because I had an astigmatism to fix and they don't make toric multi-focals (and the Dr. says he thinks they wouldn't be that good anyhow because it's trying to do too much), I will always need (pharmacy-bought) reading glasses for the two feet or so in front of me, but sheesh! I can see again! I can read street signs! I can see leaves on the trees instead of just a blob of hazy color! I. Am. Thrilled. Marry me, Dr. Mitchell? :-)

Instead of…read moreupdating my prescription, she referred me to Eye Doctors of Washington because of supposed scarring on my eyes. The earliest appointment I could get was on June 23, almost a month and a half away. To make it worse, although I live in Tysons Corner, I could only get an appointment in their inconvenient (to me) Chevy Chase office instead of their Tysons office. At the appointment, instead of updating my prescription, the doctor prescribed medications for supposed problems that have never been diagnosed before. I now have to go back to that inconvenient office on August 31, which means I'm stuck with my outdated prescription until at least sometime in September -- unless they come up with another excuse to delay things even further. From first doctor appointment, it is going to take at least four months to get glasses with a current prescription. That kind of delay is entirely una.

Ekaterina, their front desk person, said she would not schedule my follow up appointment due to a balance on my account after I had previously asked for an itemized receipt and EOB. I had mentioned I was on my spouse's insurance and needed to follow up since I had been incorrectly billed and was trying to get that sorted out before I made payment since I had every intention in paying my balance. The other front desk person, Mia, overheard and provided me with the information I requested and apologized. I am honestly uncomfortable returning to the office because of this interaction. Ekaterina is unprofessional, displays attitude in conversation and tone and is a poor representation of the practice. Working in healthcare, I am well aware of frustrations with insurance companies and knowledge of social determinants of health, so it is disheartening to encounter other personnel in the field who are poorly versed in competence training and present judgmental, rude, and unprofessional demeanor in the healthcare office setting.
