After going to America's Best for years, My Eye Dr was in network for my insurance. We got there promptly 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment. All the employees were so courteous and knowledgeable. The wait for my two kids and myself wasn't very long. The eye dr helped my son with a little dermatitis with his eyes and explained everything. The woman helping us with our glasses was so very nice. The kids and I had a great experience. I even got a free pair of sunglasses! My eye Dr Portage IN I had scheduled an appt for eye exam and new glasses. I asked them when I scheduled to make sure my insurance covers everything, which I know they do as I get this done every other year. They confirmed that yes they cover everything. But, if I want Dr to look at my whole eye ,(this is not dilation) then I will have to pay them $45 out of pocket for that (don't drs look at your whole eye when examining?)..but, whatever. The day before my appointment they call me and tell me I have to reschedule because I will need to pay for materials..huh? I know my insurance covers everything including glasses materials. I can't figure out why I would need to reschedule because of that. However, I said I don't understand why you would charge extra for materials that I know my insurance covers. The lady on the phone got quiet...so I told her I will schedule someplace else. This is the only place that has ever treated me this way and this is very bad business practice. I do not recommend them nor will I ever step foot in a place of business that I feel I am being scammed. read more

I moved to another town and decided to still travel for my eye exam because I love my eye doctor. Recently customer service has gone down hill significantly. Either they are nice but have no idea what mono vision is and it takes weeks for them to get back to you with an answer. The second type was today rude and clueless. I spent close to 800$ on a pair of glasses there. Here is what I found: they were not helpful when it came to frame selection and sizing. They just disappeared even though there was little going on in the store. When following up a week later, as they had stated I could get my glasses the next Friday or Saturday, they seemed less that enamored that a customer called for glasses. They said they'd call me back "guaranteed" between 1230 and 130PM as glasses would come in then and regardless if mine was they would call back, the lady said. Come 3PM still no call. So I call again and this time the lady says that they don't have any record of me... I ask several times if I can give her any information from the prescription/receipt and she says no. After a while of being on hold she comes back, doesn't apologize, and says "they are here". Bye. Absolutely amazing after spending that much on a pair of glasses that you have to chase and plea to get some service. So I go pick them up, barely in time for close. and no one even addresses the fact that I never received the call back when I bring it up. Here is where it gets down to 1 star (the lack of interest in their customers is maybe 2 to 3 stars worth max): when I ask for a copy of the prescription (as I never want to come back there and buy glasses elsewhere) the lady states that I cannot get the pupillary distance information as I could then buy glasses elsewhere. She states that. I am stunned and then remind them that I paid for the prescription and exam but no can do. Last thing of note: some kids seem to wander the store that seem associated with employees and they are not supervised and are smudging and dropping glasses. Real Walmart experience so I aint coming back. read more

My family and I have been coming to Vision Point for at least seven years. The two most recent issues have shown me there is no loyalty to their customers. Not only will me or my family never go back, but I will also tell anyone I know not to do business with them. The most recent incident involves being out of town and losing a contact. They refused to help me coordinate with an optometrist in another state and used the excuse that HIPA prevented them from letting me know the type of contacts I wore, even though I faxed a consent form to their office. I spent a weekend without contacts because they refused to help me. Think twice before spending your money at Vision Point!!!! read more

I had an appointment here today but based on the comments I had read below just beforehand, I walked in with concerns about receiving a copy of my prescriptions for my records. I spend time between here and Chicago, and absolutely have to have a copy of my contact lens prescription on hand for emergencies; learned through experience. Furthermore, it is the law: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0116-prescription-glasses-and-contact-lenses The young lady behind the counter was polite and not to blame for what she explained was policy, that I would not receive a copy of my contact lens prescription until when the optician decided I could have it, when some "finalized" step was met. I have been a customer at Costco for the last 5 years and always have received a new copy of my contact and glasses prescription at my annual exam. I don't understand this policy of with-holding customers' contact lens prescriptions. I went to this place to purchase contact lenses and glasses. I fully expected that I would leave with both purchases today, along with a copy of my prescription. Instead I left. Be forewarned if you need a contact lens prescription with your exam and/or purchase. read more

I have been a loyal customer for years. Not any longer.Horrible customer service! I waited 5 months for a refund for glasses that were not right. I received 4 voice mails within that time to say it was processed and on its way. Emailed supervisor no reply until a month later when I emailed again.Got supervisor Jen involved when I happen to walk in store and she was there. She told me she would have an answer by Monday and would email with the UPS information. She never emailed me that information. I received from UPS today to pick something up. The customer experience is amazing. My dog had just chewed up my pair of glasses. I went to the Valparaiso location where I received one of the worst customer experiences ever. I was going to buy a pair of prescription glasses and sunglasses. The portage location went out of their way to bring me every possible pair they could find that fit the style I was looking for. Without my glasses on I am blind! They were able to give their opinions on how they looked. The cost that people mention is typical with glasses and for someone that wears them 24/7 you get what you pay for. My experiences a Target and Walmart have been with frames that don't last as long, wrong prescriptions and more. Why was the customer experience here so great? My prescription was wrong. Without question they let me bring in my new prescription and immediately took my glasses and sent them in to get the correct prescription place in them. Zero questions asked and no additional cost. In addition to the wrong prescription the pair of Oakley glasses (not sunglasses) have given me fits trying to get them to fit properly on my face. Each time they helped me adjust them and never showed any frustration towards me. The manager helped tremendously. We are working on a deal where I can possibly get new glasses due to all of the issues I have had with these frames. There are very few times where I can say the customer experience was above and beyond. This was and is the case. read more

I guess they don't realize that is the only reason they got my business in the first place!! I purchased glasses from this location in December 2014. Three months later one of the arms broke, and it is not fixable. I took them back and they told me point blank it was my fault that they broke. They would however replace them, but it was going to cost me $80.00. They don't have my frames anymore so they would have to locate them. From the moment I had my appointment I knew I should have gone elsewhere. Their products are WAY overpriced for "Made in China" garbage. I should have gone to an In-Network provider, but have had good experience with Valpo Vision Point. I will NEVER return to this location. Some of the staff are rude, they are not at all accommodating, and they do not stand behind the garbage they sell.
