Ironically while leaving the store I said to my daughter, "while I could get all of these items for a fraction of the cost on Amazon I don't mind paying more to support a local business." We then got into our car, she opened the squishy and after simply taking it out of the packaging it popped, exploding sand all over my car. After spending an hour vacuuming my car, I went back with the popped/defective item and asked for a simple exchange. (Note the cost of this item was $6.99). The manager refused to exchange it. Instead I was told that because the store has no way to verify the quality of its toys, it passes on the cost of such risk to its consumer. Notably, the store obviously chooses the products it purchases and then marks up for retail. As a regular customer at this store, it's not about the measly 7 bucks. It's the principle and the lack of customer service offered. Apparently the store knows that it operates more as a tourist trap and that the majority of its customers are visitors. In any event, I will not be returning and would highly recommend that all New Buffalo visitors avoid shopping here.
