This is a challenging review for me to write, because I had expectations that were not met by Dr…read more Frey's practice. I came to realize over time, however, that my expectations were inappropriate. Dr. Frey does eye exams and sells glasses and contact lenses. That's it. He only does it three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, regular business hours only. No evenings. No Saturday hours. If you need glasses or contacts, and you are available mid-week, this is probably fine for you. You're probably a senior citizen, and you like getting your business done on weekdays, when the crowds are less. Apparently Dr. Frey is the only optometrist on staff. I called on one of his business days when my elderly relative, a resident of Hobart, needed to see an eye doctor right away. The receptionist told me Dr. Frey had a family emergency, and there was no other doctor in the office. No criticism of taking time off for a family emergency; however, it showed that this business is a one-man show. There's no back-up for him. I called his office on another occasion, when a second elderly relative had an eye infection of some sort. I was referred to the hospital emergency room. Dr. Frey only does business by appointment, and does not make room in his schedule for an unexpected illness. You see, I had this idea, this crazy idea, that Dr. Frey was more than he wants to be. I thought he might be acting as a physician, and that he would see people who have eye problems, eye emergencies, and the like. I was wrong. He wants to do eye exams, and sell stuff. If he sees anyone who actually might have an ongoing disease process, he refers them to another practice. He's got himself a pretty sweet deal. I wish I could work three days a week and make enough to live a comfortable life. So, Dr. Frey is what he is. If you can manage your expectations, and think of him as no different than some retail optometry chain in the mall, but with really lousy business hours, you'll probably be fine. Just don't expect real medical care here.

Dr J is amazing and this office is the most professional, friendly, and well trained staff I've…read moreever had the privilege of working with. I have referred many people, and will continue to do so. Probably my favorite eye doctor and center I've ever worked with in 30+ years of wearing eye glasses. Highly recommended!

After having moved to the area 2 yrs ago, I needed an eye exam so decided, based up overall review…read moreratings to try the CP Eye Care. A student (who didn't seem trained or competent) read my eye pressure which took him several tries. Next, I saw the doctor who was very personable. After selecting frames, I was told that my TWO pair of glasses would be in within 10 working days/2 wks (which I thought was extensive - previous IL eye doctor delivered in a few days). I called a few times to check on them (never received a call) and was told that ONE pair was in. Asked the student which pair and he indicated that distance was in. Asked him when reading glasses would be in and was told within the next day or two. Picked up the "distance" glasses only to discover they were actually "reading". So I kept calling and could NOT get a definitive answer nor did anyone offer to check with the lab. Finally, I called and asked for the doctor (who was "with other patients" then never called me back until I called AGAIN and left ANOTHER message). He said he made a mistake with the order (yet never notified me of a delay) then the next day told me lab needed to reorder glass as it came in damage (I'm smelling a run around). Told him I wanted to cancel the back order and would never return to this provider. The next day all of a sudden, (he never mentioned my refund) and told me glasses would be in within a day or two. When they finally came in, NO ONE on either occasion sat with me to ensure glasses (which I paid $900+ for) fit correctly, I had to ask for a case both times and had to ask for an itemized bill (which I should have received before the order was placed). It would take a Philadelphia Lawyer to figure out the bill with all the ancillary charges on the bill. I will happily drive back to IL to my PROFESSIONAL and WELL-TRAINED optical office where they have their act together. WOULD NOT RECOMMENT!!!!
