Part of the issue was ill fitting lenses While treating me he told me to see an optometrist closer to home for a proper contact Lense fitting. I Did so and had subsequent visits with Dr. Kaufman. A few years back during a call to make an appointment I was told that I'd been terminated from the practice. What? I later received a call stating this was an error, notes weren't clear or read in their entirety, something along those lines and I was able to move forward with the appointment Fast forward, Called 2/24 LM to see the doctor. Recd call from nurse on 2/24 at 7:56 a.m. stating I'd been terminated from the practice. Shock! I asked why, given no reason. I said well I called before and was told terminted but later it was found, an error in notes/interpretation of records and I saw the DR. I have Great insurance. Copays paid. I said, could you ask the DR. about this? Nurse replied I did. Not certain I believe it. The nurse was giving a scripted response but the kicker was when she told me "you'll just have to call around" what? That's how you speak to a patient? A better response would've been we can't see you however, there are other viable opthamologists. I didn't argue with as she didn't care anyway. The nurses there have always been great but not this one nurse. I was given no reason for the termination. At the very least I should have been provided with a reason for the "termination" I was shocked, confused and dissapointed. I'd always received good service and expected more and better from this practice. I said thank you and hung up.

When I arrive at 8am for my appointment, I'm told they don't take my insurance, but they can still see me if I want. Really? You don't check before? If you know you aren't part of that plan, maybe you should get yourself removed from it. I called to request an appointment at 10AM, got an answering machine and left a message. I received a call back but missed the call. I called back less than 10 minutes later and the person who answered acted as if I had called a tavern to make an eye appointment. Here's how the call went...I explained that I had called first, I left a message, and I missed her return call. She said "I called you?" I said "Well maybe it wasn't you, but someone called me back and I missed the call. I just wanted to make an appointment." She said "Let me see who called you" and she put me on hold. Came back and said "I don't know who called you but why are you calling again?" I explained I was referred by Dr. XXXX from XXXX optical to make an appointment with an Ophthalmologist to check for suspected glaucoma." She said "Dr. who?" I said Dr. XXXX who is at XXXX optical. She said "OK and where is that?" I won't go through the rest of the unnecessarily awkward conversation just to make an appointment (geez) but let's just say that based on this person's unprofessional tone, I didn't get a good feeling and I'm going to a different ophthalmologist.

I understand there is a schedule that needs to be kept because I have common sense and understand how an office runs. However, I do not find it appropriate to put my aunt's safety at risk by having her walk in the office without her cane/walker that she unfortunately now needs to use on a daily basis. On top of that, as I'm helping my aunt to sit in the eye doctor chair, I waited to make sure she was comfortable. Bell looks at me and rudely says "Are you going to stay in here or leave?" His office is a well oiled machine - so efficient - and such great care - I have never felt like I was a "GUEST" more in someone's home than being in his office. Every single person asks if you have any questions - they just don't take care of your needs - they anticipate your questions early on so you are well educated and prepared. From contact lenses to glasses and everything in between - this is a top notch facility.
