Another 15 minutes go by and the lady that had arrived after me begins to complain, the staff decide to jump her ahead of me. Waited an hour to even be seen and the doctor didn't provide any information or results that made me walk out satisfied. The urgent care had provided me with antibiotics and the doctor was upset I couldn't remember the name of the antibiotic. Wouldn't return or recommend this place to anyone. If you want fast service complain and they'll jump you 2+ people.

Glasses selection is adequate. I've been going here since he opened (I think I was his 3rd client) Wouldn't go anywhere else. Gave a 4-star since I've bought glasses that did not work out, usually fit was way too tight making them useless for extended wear and yes, I chose them but wish optician had checked fit and eye placement. I cannot speak to prices as I have insurance and have never compared cost to other practices.

Again got fitted. 2 weeks later I went into pick. Again could not focus. They re-ordered new glasses again. Thought the third time would be a charm but nope. Told him no thank you. Went to Costco to have my prescription filled. Much cheaper and they did the good job the first time.

If you live in this area and you need a full doctor medical exam, this is the office you want to go to. Between Dr. Harry Halscheid and his knowledgeable & friendly staff (hi Pam & Debbie), I have been well taken care of for all this time. I have had a long history of issues with my eyes, and was always cautioned to pay attention whenever or if I see bright flashing lights. Thankfully, I didn't travel this Thanksgiving weekend, and I was able to get Dr Reto's attention right away when I was seeing something not right. Through a series of phone calls and text messages we concluded I likely had a retinal tear or detachment. Dr. Reto came in on a Sunday morning after Thanksgiving, and drew his conclusion of a retina tear and put me in touch with an on call retina surgeon (Dr. Saran). Two top notch (no interns here) on call doctors on a Sunday! This tag team surely prevented me from potentially getting a detachment and / or losing the vision in my left eye! I can't thank them enough.

I was told talk to manager who was not there at that time. I sat, I waited. At 1200 I asked for my most recent prescription which I was given. Then she pointed to the person helping a customer and said that was the manager. She could have told the manager that someone wanted to speak with them, but she didn't. I choose to support local businesses, however, with Dr Ammon semi retired his people and the customer interaction has slid. For three years I have been a customer as was my daughter and my deceased husband. We we no longer use Hockessin Eyeworks.

Two…read moreweeks later I did get a voice mail that there was a mistake made at the lab and my lenses had to be remade. There was no rushing the remake and I did not receive my glasses for another +2 weeks. I called on a Friday and was told they'd be in on Monday. By 3 pm Monday, I called again to check. I was told they "hadn't gotten a chance" to check in the shipment. While I was on the phone, the person did open the box and confirmed my glasses had arrived and I could stop by and pick them up. When I arrived, my glasses still hadn't been "checked in". They were quite pleasant when my order was taken, but the service I received after that was poor, at best. Fortunately, the glasses are great.
