I stopped in because the glasses I bought here five years back broke. a screw had popped out and gone missing. I thought that they might be able to help. This is technically a new location. My review in 2021 was for the location about two miles north of here that closed. Yelp did what Yelp does. So instead of a new review, this is an "update." A very nice young lady took a quick look and said she could help. I took a seat and about 15 minutes later, she reappeared with my glasses repaired. No charge and she even replaced the nose pads. Today I went for my son's 820am appointment. I received a confirmation call Monday 11/24/25 for the appt. I arrived at the '5300' South location at 815am. I am a sticker for being on time. It was empty, in fact, empty and Available Sign up and homeless camp at the rear. At 820am I called told them I'm at the prior building and asked where they are located now. I got no apology nor any empathetic response but was given directions to the new locale. Once there (a few minutes before 830) I had to wait behind two others before getting to speak to Sarah the receptionist behind the desk. Mind you I had spoken to two other people in the office, Brittany who gave vague directions then Crystal who stayed on the phone with me when I called back. Brittany was milling around in the glasses area. Sarah told me I was 10 minutes late and can't be seen. I explained the confirmation call where no one mentioned the new address nor is there a mention of it on the recording...that I was at the old location and spoke to B and C (Brittany said she said she thought I was at the old location. Brittany was explaining to my son that the option was to wait to be worked in but if others came in for appts he would have to wait behind them too. I told her I'm the parent and please direct the explanation to me. I chose to reschedule. No one could admit they dropped the ball. They went into this speech about having a ten minute window. I said it will be right at two minutes. I literally walked in the door as the clock turned 6:26 and they would not see me. Wonderful staff! What else can I say, great positive energy as soon as I walked through the door. Everyone was helpful even though they were about to close. I'm typically slow in general and I wasn't rushed when trying to make a decision on what was best for me. They were extremely patient and that means a lot coming from someone who's experiencing many health issues. I was there for maybe an hour and enjoyed the experience. I have been a customer of MyEyeDr ever since they bought the previous company. I have two pair of prescription sunglasses that I needed the lenses swapped out. Nothing more, just replace the prescription lenses with the original lenses. I went to the store and was met by the manager. I explained what I needed and he abruptly told me he didn't have time for this. I told him I'd drop them off and pick them up later. He told me to make an appointment. That's the only way they work. He had one customer in the store. There was one car in the parking lot and no one in sight. I went online to make an appointment and damn, you can only make appointments for EXAMS. After a few very very bad experiences since moving here to charlotte I finally found a knowledgeable friendly place to get my eye looked at. From the first phone call to everywhere in-between everyone was friendly. Before I saw the optometrist they did measurements and whatnot on my eyes and she thoroughly explained what was going on and what the tests were for. She gave me options about stuff that was covered under my insurance versus what tests I can take out of pocket costs but never tried to push anything on me. The doctor explained my results for my eye tests and answered all the questions I have in their entirety. Then when it came to picking my frames out the ladies were very patient and didn't rush me. I didn't feel like I was a burden trying to find the right frame. They were very involved and engaged with me and helped me finally find a pair. She have me all the options available for my lenses and the costs for them. Then she explained what each option was for so that I can decide if the amount for the option was worth it for me. It was great to know that I was in charge of how much I was going to pay with options that I chose. My glasses were done way earlier than expected and I took them home for about a week they were a little tight I took them back they adjusted them with no problems. I had an appointment on Friday 9/2. I confirmed my appointment online and completed the healthcare paperwork online as well. I arrived to MyEyeDr noticing that it is small, but a cute atmosphere. I was instantly greeted by the front staff. She asked for my insurance card and then asked me to fill out paperwork. I told her I already completed it online. She realized this was true and stated I was ready to go back. The girl, appeared young and most likely new, began reading me all my insurance information and the associated costs of my visit for the day. I thought each item seemed high and suddenly, the man at the front counter switched paperwork with her stating "that was her old information." I completed all the prescreening and went into the eye exam to wait for the doctor. The doctor arrived, introduced himself and shook my hand. We began the exam-- was he supposed to wash his hands before touching my face and working with my eyes!? I thought so too, but he didn't. He left materials in another exam room and had to go get them (x2). I expressed that I was having an issue with my L eye constantly watering and how it was disrupting my every day life. He had NO absolute clue as to why this could be and asked me to try artificial tears from over the counter every morning before putting my contacts in. Side note, his DEEP breathing throughout the whole entire exam drove me absolutely crazy!! I got a free pair of sunglasses with my exam (insurance perk) so that was pretty cool. They didn't have a huge selection but luckily I found a pair and got them adjusted to my face. Lauren (maybe Laura, i forget now) was a great help with trying to find me a pair of glasses. She suggested certain frames and completed all the numbers to let me know final costs for each pair I liked. However, (since I used my insurance for contacts as I wear contacts 90% of the time), the prices of glasses here were just too high. read more

I have typically visited the same eye doctor for the past several years due to it being our family eye doctor. However it became a hassle driving back to my hometown (an hour away) and working with my busy schedule. I was in dire need of getting new contacts and did a little research and found out about MyEyeDr. One of my colleagues also mentioned this place. Booking an appointment was very easy and there were a lot of options that worked around my schedule. I chose this location because it was close to my job uptown. From the moment I walked in everyone was welcoming and professional. I spent less than an hour with the entire appointment and everything went quickly. I visited the branch at NC-South Blvd, 5330 South Blvd.Charlotte NC 28217-4116 on 10/17/2015. I did a comprehensive exam which is fully covered by my insurance. Later then, i consulted the Optician sitting in My Eye Dr and he advised me to order Lenses as per the prescription for which after deducting from my insurance i would have to pay $111.00 out of pocket. I double verified with him and he said that yes that is the entire amount i would have to pay. I paid the amount from my credit card and then he told me that you are all set to go and come back to collect your lenses when you get the SMS. I got the SMS yesterday and today when i went to collect it, they asked me to pay another $110 which was shocking to me. They said that this is the pending amount. I wanted to talk to the person who told me in the first place that the amount that i had to pay was just $111 which i already paid, but they said that, that guy has quit the company. He is no more working with My Eye Dr anymore. This seems fraudulent to me.They are not refunding my amount and they have not given me the lenses as well. I would never order lenses for 200 bucks. Because he told me that all i had to pay was $111 - I ordered. To add to this- i was not given any receipt of payment as well. He just gave me my card payment receipt. This is again suspicious. When i spoke to the customer care- they were no willing to help at all, and on top of it they send me an email saying that we cant help. I still havent got my lenses and not even my money. read more

I found this in my network when my new insurance kicked in. Lesson learned, keep to your local, professional, caring optometrist and eyewear provider. The staff is fine (a few inappropriate conversations between them, but courteous and professional to the customers) , the place is clean, and the wait is acceptable. This is all great, on the surface. After my appointment, I got sent to a girl who was to consult me on getting new glasses. She pushed really hard for these particular kind. We tested a few and she kept going back to the same glasses. She measured and said they would be fine even though they felt very snug. She assured me this could be fixed in the final fitting. I purchased my glasses which sent me back over $300.00 and went on my merry way. I came back about a week later to pick them up. They fitted them and they were still tight. We plied and plied until they were snug, but not alarmingly tight. The girl, which was not the same who consulted me on the glasses (actually, I've never seen her since) told me it was natural and they would relax and expand with normal wear. I came back two days later due to serious pain on my temples and headaches. The gentleman plied them some more. They felt snug, but better. I told him they still felt tight and, again, I was assured they would expand with time. I came back a third time because they still caused pretty serious pain. I had to go home once because the pain was so bad. I took them off in front of my daughter and she was alarmed at how deep and pronounced the grove from the glasses was on my temples. I returned to get them fixed again, the girl, who even claimed to remember me from coming back, plied them again. Again, I told her, these feel tight. She pretty much told me they were too small for my and that she hoped it worked out for me this time and gave me this "sorry buddy, but you're SOL". In essence, she diplomatically told me that is as far as they could go and that I just wasted $300.00 on something I can't use without causing severe pain and probably damage. I resorted to wearing my old glasses or a week, no pain, no tension, no headache. I started wearing my glasses again about three or four days ago. After two days, the pain was so severe and the pressure to my head was so intense, my vision became blurred and again, I had to go home and take some serious pain meds. During my third visit, I witnessed another customer who had also been consulted into getting contacts that were not right for him. The lady who was helping him, albeit very politely, told him he pretty much was also shit outta luck. This company takes no responsibility for how neglectful, irresponsible and inexperienced their staff is. Now, I am stuck with very expensive glasses that I can't wear and they made no attempt to try to do anything about it. Our experience with this My EyeDr location was great. This was my youngest daughters first pair of glasses and she was really excited before we went to her appointment, but when we went in she freaked out. She was afraid of some of the equipment and looking "crazy", and being made fun of at school. She was reassured by the sweetest staff members Amy and Renee. She was all smiles after all was said and done with. The relationship between the staff was noticeable because of the smiles and commodore. My girls really enjoyed their appointment. Don't you hate when there are add-ons that you don't ask for, but are slipped in? There was a warranty that we were charged for on the receipt that our flex spending wouldn't pick up. No big deal--we tried to get a refund and were told that, even if it was THEIR FAULT, and even if they obtained written authorization from us, there was not a way for them to process a credit card return over the phone due to the potential for fraud. (Ironic, that, since they potentially fraudulently added a charge onto our account.) Since their office is far out of the way and the traffic around there is awful, I asked for a check to be processed. That was fine, I was told, but would take 4-6 weeks (and, when asked to note "rush" on it, they said it wouldn't make any difference because it was coming from the corporate office--a corporate office that must be in the wilds of a country that technology and transportation forgot because it takes 4-6 weeks to get a single piece of paper back from there). I also asked if I was able to speak to someone at corporate, but was told that there was no one that I could speak to there (I guess the telephone fees to a wild country would be astronomical since they probably don't have telephone poles or the internet available, so maybe I should be thanking them). But seriously, a refund for a charge that we didn't ask for and, because we don't want to have to drive to the other side of town and brave the crazy traffic, we have to wait 4-6 weeks, and there's no one higher than the store manager to talk to? Nope. I asked her if we could get his vision records back because we are NOT going there again. To be fair, the ladies I spoke to were friendly and courteous, but I was told it was their "corporate policy." I have worked in retail before, and when it's a customer service issue for something that was the company's fault? We would bend over backwards to make it right. We were also told NEVER to throw policy in the customer's face because that is just really bad customer service. I found this place was in my network and with the great ratings it received, I was excited to go. The actual eye exam was painless, and rather quick. It was the best experience I've had yet with an eye doctor, however, when it got to the part of "did you want to get glasses today" that went a little downhill. The gentleman that was trying to help me pick out a pair of glasses was very distracted by another employee who obviously didn't know what he was doing. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was a bit irritating when he was interrupted at least 3 times, and then pulled away. The glasses selection was small for my price range, and the man helping me didn't really listen to what I liked/wanted in my glasses. When I made a comment about how I didn't really like the cat eye lens, he proceeded to show me a few more like that, and with every time, I'd comment how I didn't like that style on my face. I also felt extremely pressured to purchase a pair of frames that I didn't like and were out of my price range, but the gentleman raved about how well they fit on my face and how he'd "never seen these glasses look good on anyone, even the model they were displayed on" which was kind of him to say, and be so confident in, but it was a little stressful as he kept trying to close the sale on a pair I obviously struggled to love. Overall, the doctor was great and most of the staff was friendly, but the small selection and pushy salesman was a bit disappointing. I ended up going to Lens Crafters and fell in love with a pair as soon as I put them on my face. Which, thinking about it now, are indeed similar to the ones my pushy salesman was trying to get me to go for. In conclusion, I'm giving this four stars just because their glasses selection wasn't as big as I'd hoped, and I'd definitely go back for an eye exam, but not to purchase any glasses due to their limited selection. read more

I love this place! I have been going here for 20 years, even before it was MyEyeDr!! Dr. "J" is the best! He's professional, helpful and patient with questions and concerns. The front desk people have changed over the years, but I have never run into anyone who was rude or at all unhelpful. Just the opposite; everyone has been very kind, friendly and helpful. Had a 9am appointment first thing on Saturday morning. At 9:45am, I am still waiting to see the Optometrist. Apparently, they took walk-ins and an appointment scheduled after mine before me so I was forced to wait. What's the point of scheduling an appointment if they are not honored? This has been the most frustrating experience due to one person's attitude! It started out great with Laura greeting us at the front desk and being so helpful. Then we looked at frames and Renee ( I think) gave us smiles as my daughter and I looked for frames. We were seen by the physician who felt this new lens by EyeZen would be good for both of us rather than progressive lenses. Okay now time to pick frames and order glasses. We worked with Stacey (I'm almost certain but so mad I'm not sure). I asked her to do a comparison of the new lenses versus progressive because once our quote was complete I realized it was much more expensive than the progressives my daughter received last year. This was due to what my insurance covers. The next question I have is what is the difference in this new lens and the progressive and she doesn't know!! We googled it. Then she says we have to have anti-glare and adds crizal never mentioning the standard that my insurance completely covers. I usually have a lot of questions and am very patient during this. So I ask if the doctor can answer additional questions and put the prescription for progressive lenses into the computer in order to get an accurate quote. She looks at me and says no because she is at lunch. Really? I leave with my questions given and written down. She agreed to call me after speaking with the doctor and provide me with my answers. Fast forward. Today is Saturday and she calls me at 4:01 with the information requested. I asked the most important question...my daughters prescription for progressive lens was +0.5 last year, the new lens EyeZen 3 is +0.875 why is the new progressive lenses prescription +1? She pauses and then repeats the prices and differences that we had just discussed. I restate the question and there is another pause and she says I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I state that I understand but my concern is the difference in the prescription powers. She repeats that she doesn't think she is explaining this so I can understand. Now my patience is wearing thin. I say to her that I understand but I need my question answered can I just ask the doctor. She say no because she left at 4. So I ask if I can get a call back with the answer on Monday. She says no because doctors don't return calls and I need to come in to speak with a doctor. I ask if she is new because she says she doesn't know the doctor or if she will be there Monday. She states that she isn't new but only works weekends. Okay now I have to drive 30 minutes to the other side of town to ask a question?! You gotta be kidding me. With much frustration in my voice I ask her to close out the sale and I will go to another location. She eagerly says yes which annoys me further. So I ask for the manager and am told one is not there. So I ask to speak to anyone else that might be able to help me. She tells me yes but that she is with a customer and will pick up as soon as she is done. I hold and hold. While explaining the situation to my husband. He proceeds to call on his phone and low and behold they are closed!!! Terrible experience! I plan to make a call to management but this is the second time I have had poor customer service. We spend thousands a year for a family of four in glasses, contacts and wearing sunglasses. I've been told I expect too much from people regarding customer service. I didn't think wanting someone to be knowledgeable about the products they sell and answering questions for a customer was too much. For those reading this, let's stop giving our hard earned money to companies and letting them skate by giving us subpar service. We can together demand that the standards be raised!!! read more

I ordered a pair of computer glasses in early October, but I haven't got it yet. At first they used the old glasses inspection report, made a pair of myopia computer glasses, but I needed computer glasses with aging eyes, and they later found the new report. I told them that I was going abroad on October 22. They told me that they could get it ready before the 22nd, but I didn't actually get it. On the trip, on November 23, I also received a text message from them saying that I could take it. However when I went home on December 22 and went to get the glasses on December 24, they said that they could not find it. It is now January 2nd today, I have not got it yet. read more

Manager and service at this store is some of the lowest I've seen in awhile. Complete lack of empathy of store personnel especially store manager Angela. I think she was mad that I canceled my order and she lost commission and told me I have to wait 6 weeks for a refund to my HSA debit card that could only be issued by a refund check via postal mail from the home office. 6 weeks and a refund check in the mail and all they have to do is swipe my card? This is 2016 for goodness sake! Never once told me that they were upgrading debit card systems and that if I called the 800 customer care line I could get a refund over the phone instantly. Only found that out after I called to report her reprehensible customer service. After the way she talked to me, I am confident she was trying to punish me by making me wait as long as possible for my refund. When I asked her if she talked to all of her customers they way she was talking to me, her response was "Only to the one's that don't listen!". I will never use this company again for my vision needs after this serviceIi received at this store. She should be fired for talking to me the way she did. Completely unacceptable! Uncaring people and won't let you walk around the store. They make you sit down and bring what glasses they think will look good on you to you. My Eye Dr. has been the most complicated establishment I've ever had to deal with. Beverly is an employee there who blatantly lied to me about not being able to give me my eyeglasses prescription because i only paid for a contact lenses eye appointment, while also telling me that she prefers I buy from My Eye Dr. instead of shopping for frames online. I scheduled an appointment for a refit and when I was with the eye doctor, I asked for my eyeglasses prescription and he got it for me in less than a minute--I was shocked! I told him my experience with Beverly and he said "there must have been a miscommunication," and i told him that she literally withheld information from me but he dismissed it and never acknowledged it. There were more problems like getting the wrong contacts in the mail and having to wait longer for them, but I understand those are simple mistakes. I was very worried about the transition from Pearle to My Eye Dr as I have been going to Pearle for many years specifically because of Pat and Adam. I was just there, dropping my usual TON of money and I'm happy to say that they were both there, Pat took appropriate time with me as I was getting 3 pairs of glasses all for a different purpose. Other places would have rushed me and not given such great, personal service. Pat is AMAZING. When I go back to pick up my glasses, I'm so happy to know Adam will be there and he'll be just as wonderful as he always is too. As long as Pat and Adam are there, this is where I go and spend all my money, without question! There is a location literally around the corner from my house, but I drive to Pat and Adam. read more

I think this my worst experience with an eye examination center over the past 18 years. Be careful - this lady calling herself as Manager in the South Blvd my eye dr makes appointment with you for an eye exam over the phone and then refuses to take you for an eye exam, saying it is a medical problem and will need to be treated/billed medically straight away. She is just a manager but decided to act like a doctor at the reception and just looked at my eyes and decided that the doctor will only see me with medical insurance and not as a regular vision exam through my iMed insurance. I argued with her for several minutes at the office and she remained stubborn and did not let me see the doctor for a vision exam. Procedure - ONLY a doctor can certify that something is wrong with my eye and that I would need medical attention and that medical insurance would be needed. And later I call her back to tell her about her blunder and she says she decides whether the people coming in would need a medical exam or eye exam. Bho... read more

this was a great place before the original owner sold it. The staff on the exam side is great. The staff on the glasses is completely inept. Took OVER 2 MONTHS to get my sunglasses and I still not get the pair I ordered. I was told take it or leave it. I took them with the understanding that I was getting a full refund. Haven't seen it 2 months later. My regular glasses took just as long and they were a re-order of the same style just a different prescription. They were made incorrectly no less than 4 times. Won't even get into the 3 different interpretations of my insurance etc. Customer service just plain sucks here. read more
