This office is a fucking scam. If you or your kids are looking for a new eye doctor, look…read moreelsewhere. I moved to this area 18mo ago and havent seen an eye doctor in almost 3 years. Figured I would go here as I looked up IN NETWORK providers in my area. None of what this place does is transparent. I asked for a simple updated Rx for my glasses and contacts. They scammed me into taking pupil dilation (which i told them I didnt want) only to turn around and make up some fake story about how I "might" have Astigmatism. Only to put me in trial contacts fit for Astigmatism and THEY HURT MY EYES. Clearly meaning I do not have astigmatism. LIES LIES and more LIES. So what should have been a $15 visit ended up being a $140 visit because they decided to code the charges as if I have astigmatism so they could say "look we put him in the fancy contact lenses, he just didnt like them." Oh and to top it all off, the script they gave me when I left was incomplete so when i went to order contacts at Costco a week later, they wouldnt complete the order because there was missing information. And doctors wonder why no one trusts them anymore after Covid...this is why!! Read the room Doc, maybe try giving a shit about your patients for once and not treating people like cattle you shuffle through your door so you can buy another beach house.

If I could give this location zero stars, I would. This has been the most disappointing experience…read moreI've had with an eye care provider, and I have been receiving routine eye care since adolescence. My primary concerns relate to communication and professionalism at the front desk, particularly involving the office manager at the Rocky River location. During a recent visit, I was given incorrect information regarding my insurance coverage for an eye exam. I was initially told that I would be responsible for a significant out-of-pocket cost, which understandably caused concern and led me to consider canceling or rescheduling my appointment. When I attempted to clarify this with the front desk, I encountered inconsistent explanations and was informed that I would be charged a $50 cancellation fee. This was especially frustrating given that the confusion stemmed from misinformation provided by staff. When discussing the matter with the office manager, I found her demeanor to be dismissive and unprofessional, which further added to the stress of the situation. Fortunately, after speaking with a member of the financial department, I was correctly informed that my exam would be fully covered by insurance. While I ultimately proceeded with the appointment, the experience leading up to it was unnecessarily stressful and could have been avoided with clear and accurate communication. Additionally, I observed what appeared to be staff discussing patients within earshot of others, which raised concerns about professionalism and patient privacy. I do want to acknowledge that several staff members were courteous and helpful. However, my interactions with the office manager significantly impacted my overall impression of this location. I hope leadership addresses these concerns to improve communication, professionalism, and the overall patient experience.

Dr. Bonnie Chen, absolutely not. I have been wearing glasses and seeing specialist since I was in elementary school, but she has been the worst eye doctor I've ever seen. I am very nearsighted, have a decent astigmatism, retinal issues, and family history of eye health issues that could lead to blindness. When I would address my concerns with her, she dismissed them. She would tell me it is average life stuff that I wasn't having issues with. My final straw was when I expressed to her that I was having more troubles with light sensitivity - mainly when driving, but also when I was outside in general - even with the use of sunglasses. She told me it wasn't possible for me to have this experience because I have brown eyes. She then went on to tell me that I just needed my prescription updated (hadn't changed much), make sure my windshield was clean (already clean), and continue wearing sunglasses (still doesn't help). I went to my pcp and got a referral to another eye doctor. I'm glad I did. My concerns were finally heard and addressed.

You don't find ANY of that in this day and age in a doctor's office. Most of them make you wait at least a half hour and then can't wait to get you out ASAP with zero emotion or class...like a bunch of ZZZZZZOMBIES!! Thanks for changing my perception and image of what a doctor's office can be like. They have set the bar very high and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to be the team that cares for my eyes--now and in the future. I especially want to thank Maria for assisting me in picking out an extraordinary pair of exquisitely cool glasses. She is the utmost professional, very knowledgeable at what she does, and has a great sense of humor. She is the BEST!! I can't wait until my new spectacles arrive! Thanks again to Maria and everyone at Piedmont EyeCare!! You made my day and restored my faith at least in the eyecare profession!! See you again soon! SUPER SATISFIED, client, Brenda

NOTE: This review is not regarding the skill of the optometrist at this location. This review has…read moreto do with issues related to communications from this optometrist office and the professional acumen of the staff. You don't have to read the rant below. Here's the issues: 1) Off-putting and excessive security for an optometrist office, 2) Electronic Health Records system questionnaire that doesn't value the patient's time, 3) Incompetent office staff (scheduling appointments within insurance parameters). There are other optometrist offices that provide better customer service. For more specifics: To start, greeting clients with a locked door. I know that it is the 21st century. Certain neighborhoods can be rough. Is Blakeney or Weddington a high crime area? I don't think so. So, why is it necessary to have everything but a retinal scan to get into the office space? So you had someone come in and grab some frames - once (Oakley frames cost about $15/pair to manufacture, you may pay $100/pair). Stop treating the vast majority of people as if they are going to repeatedly violate the security of your business. Between your profit margins and your insurance, you can handle the shrink. Next, let's address the Electronic Health Records system (EHR) that is designed to consume mass quantities of patient time asking questions that are sometimes patently ridiculous. Men cannot get pregnant, this is basic biology. In a digitally active online form in the 21st century, why after acknowledging that I am a man would a form ask me if I'm pregnant (this is a "sex" question, not a "gender" debate)? No reason other than wasting time/energy. Why would such a system not retain information from prior visits and simply ask for changes and updates to previously reported information? Its not a HIPAA thing. Is it because you don't value the client's time? So, you really are going to ask me to fill out this complete multi-page form again for another appointment next week - really!? Finally, lets talk about the importance of scheduling appointments that acknowledges the world of health insurance that we live in and that funds the very existence of the modern optometrist office. When a client completes an appointment and the optometrist tells the person at the front desk to set them up for their annual appointment, it is not a stretch to think that part of the scheduling algorithm would be to include insurance requirements for the ANNUAL check-up. So, imagine my disappointment, when I show up after completing the forms, working my way through security, and the front desk staff asks, "So, you're going to be paying for this visit out of your pocket?" No, I pay a monthly premium so I don't have to. Now, to make it worse, I have addressed these same issues - in writing - to the company at least 2 years ago. They haven't done anything to change them. This optometry office needs significant improvement.

Kim the nice lady that tried to take payment of $229.85 for glasses I attempted to purchase in full, my card only allowed $116.85, she ask me did I have another form of payment, I said no and she said well when you can make payment come back. Me assuming that the money she took would return after the weekend, nothing happened. I went back into eye associates that Monday were she then mentioned that it was a partial payment and I at that point I mentioned I am changing directions and getting smarter glasses, then Kim wanted me to sit down with sales rep again. I politely declined and trust was lost my way and no longer wanted to be tricked into anything else, I even mentioned to her that I had no idea that this was a partial payment. Kim moved right pass that and attempted to refund $106.85 they said $10 was copay which still confused me because I thought the payment was for glasses. Neither less accepted $106.85 refund. Tried multiple times to refund money, could not. Kim then left for about 10 minutes saying they could do a check, came back and told me they couldn't do that and to dispute with my bank. I just feel that they should break these payments down on a sheet and verbally ask if I wanted to do partial payment before I left out on the 31st. I'm in sales and felt like I was not top priority and that the information could have been explained 10 x better.
