My daughter and I went to Mye's Hair Design and it was a great experience for both of us! Mye was not only accommodating by booking us an appointment last minute, but she was also kind, thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Her assistant was also very helpful, and with guidance from Mye she was able to do an amazing job as well. Mye took the time to explain to us what products to use when blowing drying, and what settings to use on the hair dryer to get the best results. I also liked that Mye specializes in straight and curly hair, so we have both options. Previous salons that we went to, which were also great, only specialized in curly or straight but not both. Where do I begin?! I have never in my life experienced such rude and unprofessional behavior as I did with Mye. I personally made an full head weave appointment and takedown from the weave that she installed prior to that I had issues with as well. I arrive at noon on 10/29 and we do not start until 1:30. My boys were leaving school at 5, so luckily my boyfriend was able to pick them up. Total time spent on a takedown and install: 7.5 hours! Either the technique that she uses or the threading are off. I had countless issue with tracks lifting within a week and half after the install. At this point, I have no choice but to seek compensation legally. read more

Mrs. Mye provided excellent service. She made sure I received the hairstyle I requested. My hair and I feel fabulous.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life and I will not be returning. It took 5 hours to get my hair done. This was my first appointment, I waited outside for over 15 minutes. Immediately after greeting me, she told me I was going to call you and cancel, I didn't realize you had so much hair. This was a bit concerning, and it left me feeling incredibly uncomfortable. As the appointment began she continued to comment on how old she thought I was. I think you're older than my daughter. She repeated this statement over and over again. What does my age have to do with anything? The conversation had nothing to do with age and this happened a minimum of 4 times. I found this to be incredibly rude. After putting my conditioner on and sitting under the dryer I noticed she started to work on a client. This is normal. But then I noticed she worked on a 2nd client and as the 2nd client was under the dryer she pulled the previous client back into her chair. This was a person who came after my appointment. Then a 3rd person came in. She worked on 3 people, who all arrived after me, from beginning to end and I was still waiting. She then proceeded to finish my hair, without any apologies or asking me if I was okay with the timeframe. I was looking for a straight cut. I told her I like my ends to be blunt. After she cut my hair, she gave me a mirror to check and I began giving her feed back, because I noticed random longer pieces. As I was looking in the mirror, explaining what I wanted. She brought the scissors to my head and quickly sniped at my hair and said, "like that?" Mind you, I was standing, not in the chair, she came at me with scissors at an angle. This is not the way you cut hair. I couldn't believe the audacity. So I got out of there as soon as possible. She clearly didn't care and made it very evident she didn't want to properly cut my hair. Mye is incredibly brazen and rude. I would highly recommend seeking services elsewhere. .... In response: You don't need to know me Mye. You didn't know me when you did my hair. And you don't need to know me now. This is my experience and its an honest one. You also weren't accommodating me as we'd scheduled this appointment a month in advance. You were also aware of my length of hair as I sent photos per your request. This wasn't you trying to fit me in and do me a favor. What I experienced was you accommodating other customers ahead of me. Yes, its very common to work on multiple heads at a time, as I stated previously. But it's uncommon and downright disrespectful to have 3 clients begin after me and leave before me. And because of that I was in your salon for 5 hours. That absolutely happened as much as I wish it didn't. You were accommodating your regular clients, clearly. Regarding the haircut: at the time I was holding the hand mirror you were not cutting my hair. Nor did you ask me to stand so that you could cut my hair. You asked me to stand to check my hair in the mirror. I was actually leaning with my butt against the counter mirror at the time you approached me with scissors in hand and with no warning. I was not in any proper position to have my hair cut when you approached with scissors in hand. Yes, people may have a different opinion about you than I do but I can only go on my experience. And it would be very remiss of me to not share this with the rest of the public. I would never recommend you. In fact, I would adamantly suggest a more heart-centered customer friendly service provider. I will not be calling you as there is nothing further to discuss. Hopefully you can take these notes and apply them to new clients in the future. We all have our days but unfortunately, this one has left a bad stain, a blemish. read more

I tried again and someone answered the phone , not sure who, because they didn't introduce themselves or say any kind of greeting. I wasn't even sure if it was the right number but went ahead and asked how much a trim and silk press was and then the person said they're not accepting new clients and hung up without a goodbye. Completely fair if a person doesn't want new clients , but it would be nice if that was published on here / the website/ or the answering machine message - somewhere anywhere so that people aren't wasting their time trying ask for an appt. I don't usually leave poor reviews but I think this time warranted it. First of all I had to wait 30 minutes for my appointment to start (appt was at 2 and it started at 2:30). I came in for a only a trim. Over the phone she told me the agreed price was $40 but then when the appointment was over she told me it was $60 (because she wrongly assumed I was a child and not an adult ??). I sent her a picture of my hair before and I do not look like a child. So it shows me that she may not have even looked at the picture beforehand. She also told me she could not lower the price because of how thick my hair is and that I'm not a child. She was very unprofessional and I think that she purposely told me a lower price to have me get the appointment and then only until after she had completed her service did she up charge me. read more

Terrible communication skills and time management. We've gone the Mye multiple times with these same issues and this was our final time going to this location. This is not her first time overlapping appointments and having multiple cancellations. While she did accommodate to our schedule, she overestimated the amount of time she could spend on us. Her good intentions are not followed through. This time, our family spent an hour in traffic to arrive on time. Mye double booked us, 2 1-hour relaxers, and someone else's "4 hour weave" at the same time after pushing our appointment back 15 minutes. While in traffic, far away from our home, she told us instead of doing both hair styles she could only do 1 of the 2 relaxers. Unfortunately, our phones were dead and we found out once we arrived she could do neither relaxers. Once we arrived, she laughed and said jokingly that she could get us in next year. She made sure, repeatedly, we understood that she works 13 hours days! If you do decide to get an appointment here, good luck. You will probably be rescheduled after arriving and then pushed back a hour just to show up again with someone else still in the chair for another 45 minutes. read more

She asked several questions about what I was looking for, which was to taper my sides and nape a bit more since I did the big chop right before Christmas. Mye was the most pleasant and was able to squeeze me in on Easter weekend. On top of that, she seems very particular with scheduling, so I didn't feel rushed or have to wait an hour, everything was smooth sailing. I had a wash, deep condition, blow dry and straighten. I have been going to Mye for over a year my most recent visit was less than desired. I received a perm, which was perm straight no problem there. Then I added two tracks added for length. But my ends were cut very blunt which meant the extensions no longer blended with my natural hair. Since my hair was curled it was not noticed till the next day. The transition was so noticeable that I could not wear my hair down without looking like a disaster. When I reached back out the answer was to add more tracks? No thanks, especially since my hair is just above my shoulders. The correct answer would have been to place the tracks correctly & trim my ends correctly to blend. Such as another shop did to correct the issue. More importantly I'm really disappointed that any hair dresser would let any client leave their chair looking such a mess. Having said all of that if you wear you hair or a complete sew in then your good. But of you add a track or two I would reccomend another hair dresser. On a good note she's friendly. I think I have just out grown the level of service she provides. UPDATE TO mye's Response: I will definitely be the bigger person. I'm completely happy with myself but that clearly just shows what kind of person she really is which will be reflected in her work. read more

I had such a great experience with Mye. I moved to the area about 2 years ago and hadn't found a stylist yet so after going natural for a while I finally decided to find a stylist and get a relaxer again. My hair has been relaxed previously but has never felt so full and healthy afterward. She used a mild relaxer (which I don't think any stylist has done before on me) and it turned out great. She did an amazing job with my hair, all I needed was my hair straightened and she did the damn thing, I walked out feeling so good because for the first time I finally found someone who could actually straighten my thick, long, curly coarse hair! From the start she was asking me the questions hairstylist will usually ask their first time client's, like what are coming in for, have you ever had your hair straightened before etc (since I was coming in to get it straightened). I loved how she was able to answer my non stop questions about her hair services, about what she uses in her hair, what she thought was best for my hair etc she was very informative and I appreciate her actually listening to my questions because some stylist I've been to have gotten annoyed when I ask questions! She's so great at keeping a conversation which is huge especially if your hair will take awhile, that is a skill that unfortunately not many stylist have. She made me feel very comfortable and confident which is one of my biggest things that I look for when looking for a new hair stylist/nail salon etc so needless to say she made me feel at home.
