I ordered from My Thai Restaurant (4th Street, San Rafael) on July 30, 2026, through two separate orders using dine in marin. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst food experiences I've had, and I could not safely eat the meal. The order included two Fresh Young Thai Coconuts, both of which appeared spoiled. They were not fresh and had signs consistent with improper storage, including an off taste. The two Coconut Ice Creams were also spoiled. Both had a light pink discoloration on top and tasted noticeably sour. I ordered two Pad See Ew dishes, and the beef in both had a rotten, musty odor and were pink which did nit seem fresh.. The most concerning issue was with the proteins. My Shrimp Pad Thai contained a small piece of completely raw chicken, which was unexpected and raised serious food safety concerns. The Chicken Satay appeared cooked on the outside, but the inside was still raw and undercooked. The Green Curry was also disappointing. The vegetables were excessively wilted and appeared to be past their freshness. The curry itself had an unusual greasy layer on top and a thick, goopy consistency that was unlike any green curry I've had before. Because of the number and severity of the food quality and food safety issues, I did not feel comfortable consuming any of the meal and had to discard the entire order. This experience was extremely disappointing. I hope the restaurant reviews its food handling, storage, and quality control procedures to help prevent similar issues for other customers. read more

A decent place to grab Thai food in the area if you have a hankering for it. The service is friendly and not super in-your-face with the check-ins. The decor is warm and welcoming, making it a cozy spot to visit. Our most recent visit was a bit of a flop. We ordered: roti, fried tofu, green curry paste fried rice, and Rad Nar. (all but the tofu was disappointing) The roti was $12 which was pretty expensive for a small appetizer, but we gave it a go thinking maybe this would be special. It wasn't. I would skip this one. It was the same roti you'd get at most Thai places but at more than double the cost. It could've been an off day.. not sure, but ours came really undercooked and was soggy. I reluctantly sent it back to get crisped up. It was really really disappointing. On the bright side, the server didn't seem to take any offense to this and was accommodating. The fried tofu was a bit light on the fry but it was crispy enough. We've had it crispier in our other visits. Curry fried rice was light on all the aromatics... I don't know if the flavors are toned down for this market or if it was a different chef but I hate to say it was extremely bland. I ended up adding pepper flakes and pickled peppers to spruce up the flavor. Rad Nar.... not-so-rad... Maybe it's an acquired taste? This dish uses the wide flat rice noodles and comes in a soy bean gravy. Most of the wide noodles were clumped together and the gravy was basically clear gloop. There wasn't much of a fermented soy bean flavor at all, or any flavor for that matter. This was the most bland dish we had that night. Bland and gloopy. So. Gloopy. It was not enjoyable. Thai food usually is a giant flavor bomb of opposing flavors and textures that magically work together (heat and sweet, tangy and creamy, crispy and soft....). Everything we ordered during this visit was simply bland. I really hope it was just an off day for the kitchen. Our other two visits were "ok" (I'm recognizing that maybe the flavors are a bit toned down given the location) but not disappointing like our most recent visit. This isn't to say the food is bad, my intention is to share some honest feedback for those who frequent Thai food to temper their expectations. Stop in anyway? Let me know your thoughts! read more

I received a gift card via email for this restaurant for my birthday. It was purchased directly on their website and emailed to me. The email I received showed a gift card and a card number. The note beneath it said to present the number at checkout to use the card. You would assume you could use this gift card in their restaurant, right? Well, when we tried to use it, the manager could not figure out how to use it. She ultimately said it could probably only be used online and that we'd need to pay out of pocket for our meal. Obviously, we needed to pay for our meal, but we went specifically to that restaurant to use the gift card. We asked if there was any way we could pay for the meal through an online order or whatever other alternative. She repeatedly told us no without any effort to help with a solution. We were very upset, as the manager was quite rude and we felt very embarrassed. I've emailed several times to see if they can somehow make it right, as we don't intend to return to the restaurant and now have a $100 unused gift card. I haven't received any correspondence. Think before purchasing a gift card here, and don't expect any help from their manager! read more

Today, After 20 minutes arguing with 2 people behind the counter they said the rice was not included yet, the website clearly states it. they tried to say this lunch menu is only during the weekdays even after we showed them the website advertisement. No staff was paying attention to us and we did not get seated for about 5 minutes even there were empty tables. The servers were not attentive for our orders. My money was not well spent there. We ordered spring rolls, pad Thai with beef and pineapple fried rice. The spring rolls tasted fresh and the combination of ingredients were great. However, it's on the pricey side. The portions of the pad Thai and pineapple fried rice were small with that price. For the pad Thai, I only tasted ketchup, there was only a few pieces of beef. It so delicious and tasty. It depends on what mango they give you, it either kinda sour or sweet. I think my was sour-ish but it balance out really great. I wish they give me more coconut milk. I'm a little disappointed since they had such good revives and they have like 100 "Best of Marin" plaques all over the walls. But it was only okay for us. The crab cake was delicious but the green curry wasn't so great. The flavor was good but the veggies were hardly cooked and the menu clearly says there's eggplant in the dish, but we had zero eggplant. Our waiter wasn't very friendly either. I realized that all of our food was created with quality ingredients in a medley of flavors, textures and heat. This place serves great Thai food! First time for several of us here. The seating area had neat shared bench seat with cushions- it gave the illusion that we were sitting on the floor. We had a variety of dishes: -Beef salad- grilled marinated pieces of beef among greens with pickled julienned carrots, radish and beet with a citrus lime dressing- wasn't a small salad and it was filling and refreshing. The beef was tasty and soft. -Chicken coconut soup: tangy and creamy with tender pieces of chicken -Pork pad thai: soft pork with sauced noodles. 2 people could share this dish -Green curry: it had a nice kick and wasn't too thin. It had a good amount of veggies- it was great with the coconut rice. -Barbecue chicken: big pieces of tender marinated chicken All of the dishes were enough to share among 2 people with a side of rice and they weren't overly salty. I recommend getting the sticky rice and the coconut rice was pretty good too. I thought the prices were reasonable for what you got. Restaurant was close to empty except for a large party. Our waitress was great as usual. Towards the end of the meal a young man came out and told us My Thai is closing now, was there anything else we wanted. He seemed impatient and uptight and we felt really rushed. I told him we were feeling rushed and he said that what he meant to say was that the the kitchen was closing and did we want dessert. His explanation seemed begrudging at best. The restaurant is located off of busy 4th street and it was bustling during a weekday afternoon. Lunch specials are on the pricier side, but given the quality and the area, it's not a bad option for lunch. Ordered their panang curry with chicken lunch and a Thai iced tea. I upgraded to the sticky rice and the lunch special comes with a salad as well. The panang curry was rich and flavorful with an array of delicious spices. The chicken was really tender and they provided an ample amount of meat. Wasn't too big of a fan of the sticky rice though and probably could have forwent the upgrade. It comes in a cute little basket! At first I thought that they had forgotten the rice, but it was just hiding underneath there. It was decent but nothing special. The salad was average but I enjoyed the dressing. Their Thai iced tea was like diabetes in a glass! BUT... that's the way I LOVE my Thai iced tea. It was perfect. It was pretty busy during lunch but the food came out super fast. Service was adequate but nothing over the top. The staff was very pleasant to interact with though. It's easy to say fast attentive service when you are practically the only peeps in place within 39 minutes of closing time. But we got it Conspicuously they never asked what level of spice. The portions were smaller than I remembered and smaller than other Thai restaurants in the area. The flavors were subdued. Deep fried tofu added to pad ga pow at the last moment so it had no time to soak up the sauce. The veggies in that dish looked like they had been steamed instead of stir-fried and also had almost no flavor. The sauce was watery. I've had phenomenal pad ga pow here but this was a far cry.
