Very disappointed with my experience at Gold Star GMC in Salinas…read more I was upfront with Patrick about my challenged credit and the vehicle I wanted. He told me he could work with me and gave me confidence that he could get me approved. I was also concerned about my credit being run everywhere. Shortly after submitting the application, I received alerts showing approximately nine credit inquiries from different lenders. After all those inquiries, I received no proactive follow-up call or text. I had to contact Patrick myself to find out what was happening. When he finally responded, I was told they could approve me for something around $25,000 and was asked, "Do you like Jeep Wranglers?", not the vehicle/options we had originally discussed. I understand that dealerships sometimes need to shop financing around, especially with challenged credit. My issue is the expectations that were set beforehand, the number of credit submissions, the lack of communication afterward, and then being redirected to completely different vehicles. Based on my experience, I would not shop here again. If you finance through this dealership, ask how many lenders they plan to send your application to before authorizing anything.

Here's a polished but still firm 1 star review:…read more I was really disappointed with my experience at Toyota Salinas. I booked an appointment online for 12:30 PM and drove about 20 minutes to get there. When I arrived, I checked in at the front and was told to wait in my car because someone would come out to help me. I waited about 18 minutes with no one approaching me, so I had to flag someone down myself. After that, I was told there were 13 cars ahead of me and it would likely take around 4 hours before they could even get to my car. At that point, I was confused and frustrated because I had booked an appointment. They explained that the appointment time was really just a drop-off time, which was not clear when booking online. The whole process felt disorganized, slow, and inattentive. The customer service was poor, and I felt like my time was completely wasted. If appointments are not actual service times, that should be made very clear upfront so customers can plan accordingly. I would not recommend coming here if you expect timely or attentive service.

As far as service in general - It's been 5 stars! In dealing with this Salinas service department…read moreon two separate occasions, I am writing this review because I feel they are service-driven and focused on their customers' needs. Of course, they care about the bottom line, but I feel like they are more focused on assessing and helping their customers have a great overall experience. Here is an overview of the experiences I have had at this location in Salinas: OIL CHANGE: I took our Pacifica in for an oil change and was treated professionally by both my service advisor and at checkout. I was told there would be a 90-minute wait for my oil change the week prior, and it was approximately 90 minutes. I also received my vehicle back in the same condition. (That has not always been the case with other centers! We once received our vehicle back with a used face mask and a sock when our vehicle was returned!) The advisor also answered a question I had that was car-related, but not oil change-related. She had to research what I was asking, but came back promptly and with the information I needed. She was kind and she seemed experienced and knowledgeable! AUTO REPAIR & SERVICE: I called to speak to someone in regard to the issues I was having with our vehicle. It took a couple of tries to get through, and I could tell that they were extremely busy, but the service manager (Don) answered. He asked what issues I was having with our vehicle, but when I went into more details he asked questions (to get more insight on how he could assist,) he looked at my vehicle's past history and took time to talk with me about my concerns to best assist me BEFORE I made an appointment. I called with questions and was spoken to with respect as an individual and concern for my vehicle's needs. Don was professional and I felt he genuinely wanted to help me with my vehicle's issues! On both occasions, I appreciated being treated as a valued customer, as it has not been our experience at other dealerships and service centers! I am a woman, who drives our family's Pacifica 90% of the time, and is responsible for the maintenance and decisions when it comes to service on the vehicle. This will be our family's service department to work with now! Thankful to have found this service department and Chrysler dealership!

I like cars made in Asia and think they make the best cars for your buck. I've never to have a major repair done on any of the cars I've owned made in Asia. And I've owned 8 of them. My salesman, Mike, was cool. He never once pressured me to buy a car. if he had said, 'What do I have to do to get you into this car today?" I would have walked out. But he didn't. I've never been in sales, but I do know about that "Always closing" selling technique. I stopped by about 4 times to ask questions about the car when I went to Home Depot or Kohl's on an errand. I first saw the K-5 about 4 years ago and thought it was the best-looking car of the similar cars made by other car makers, but I wasn't looking to buy a new car then. So, when I decided it was time to buy a new car, the K-5 was my first choice. I'm well aware they sell cars across the street. I went home and figured out what I would be willing to pay for the car. I went back; test drove the car and made my offer. Mike took my offer to somebody, I've never figured out who they are, and within 15 minutes, they accepted my offer. I was satisfied with the deal and assume they were too. Then it was on to all the extended warranty stuff. Tino was cool too. He knew I was interested in that and didn't push me. He just did his job. If I didn't think this was going to be a good dependable car, I wouldn't be buying it. At 77 years old, this is may be the last car I buy. But if I do buy another car, My Kia is the first place I'll go.

In response to my very negative review about that experience, the dealership escalated their response up the chain, at first trying to justify what I experienced, but ultimately offering a seemingly sincere apology, promising the dealership would make sure their staff did not behave in this way going forward, refunding the upsold work, and offering a free future service. So while my initial experience was very negative, I was happy with the final resolution, and the most senior person who engaged me in the end really listened and said all the right things in response to my concerns. In summary, while my initial experience was very negative, I was impressed by the dealership's ultimate response, and maybe most impressed by the time they took to really listen to my concerns and seemingly take them seriously. How to rate this overall experience is a bit challenging, but I'm going to focus on the positive resolution rather than the challenging experience beforehand.

The service guy Mikki P is an aggressive bully and a documented liar. That last is not my opinion,…read morebut rather exactly what Volkswagen Corporate said. Background: We received a notice direct from Volkswagen that our warranty, which had expired in 2025 on a car we had bought from this same dealership, was being extended a full 5 years to 2030, for one item only, the clock-spring (in the steering wheel, controls airbag, cruise control, several other items), which we had already had to pay for out of pocket after the warranty expired once, and had already broken a second time. We took the notice card from Volkswagen which clearly had the VIN number of our car on it to schedule an appointment to get it fixed, and bully / thug Mikki nastily refused. He said our warranty expired in 2025 and he didn't care what the card said he wasn't going to honor it and basically that we were wasting his time. I should have figured something like that would happen, given that they lied to our face when we bought the car years before, costing us an extra $1000 on that sale. I called Volkswagen Corporate immediately after the insulting conversation with liar Mikki, and they confirmed that our VIN number was in the system and that any dealer would see that exact warranty extension in the dealer database, but that there was nothing they could do to get an unscrupulous, dishonest, deceitful dealer trying to skimp on service, who was dedicated to cheating customers to honor the warranty, and advised me to see another dealer. I then called the Service Manager Joe Silva who said he stood by bully Mikki and he wasn't going to honor the Volkswagen warranty extension either. Completely useless. That he even has the word "service" in his title is a joke. (He and Mikki should be mopping up spilled soda in the backroom of a truck stop Burger King at 3 am for minimum wage.) Instead we called Santa Cruz VW who could not have been more professional and welcoming. They looked us up in the system, confirmed the VIN, THEN because my daughter had to drive from far out of town, even though we live only a mile from the Cardinale incompetents, prioritized the warranty repair and had the car fixed in an amazing 90 minute turnaround. So we got to drive 60 miles round trip instead of 2, but given their horrible customer service attitude if we'd had to drive 3 times as far we'd have been better off. I am absolutely going to buy my next car from Santa Cruz VW, and am advising everyone I know to avoid any business with the name "Cardinale" associated with it. By the way, read some other Yelp reviews from this place, and you'll see that automatic denial of ANY warranty extension is what they do, again and again. I was amazed that loud talking hostile aggressive Mikki could stand right there and deny an official notice from Volkswagen Corporate, put in place specifically because this part had a huge failure rate for a decade, and simply ignore it. He is clearly in the wrong profession, and I think he would shine working as a bouncer in a seedy bar where he can intimidate 90 lb skid row drunks and roll them for quarters and dimes in a garbage filled back alley after they pass out. That any business would employ him to interface with the public is beyond comprehension; actually, it would be like employing a 9 year-old boy with a magnifying glass to "interface" with an ant colony.

It was the best car I have driven the past months . One problem it had 112,000 miles and we want something under 50,000 so he showed us a 2009 with close miles to what we wanted . It was getting late and my son was with the babysitter so we had to leave. I left really happy with the service .
