I would have given ten stars to My Gym Bellevue if I could. It is the best kids gym in Bellevue! Really hard to describe in short amazing owners and human-beings Alma and Patrick who run the gym and also teach classes by themselves with the assistants which is so rare in the kids gym industry. They're fully dedicated to success of each and every child and connect with them and their families. The gym is being rearranged every week to keep it interesting for the kids and allowing them to practice different routines every week. My daugther also started taking taekwondo classes a few months ago with Patrick and absolutely loves it. She was very shy in the beginning but I already see how her confidence is growing thanks to these classes. Patrick has a unique set of traits - while he is very professional and strict he has an incredible sense of humor keeping kids excited and motivated! And one more thing: if you are looking for a place to have a kids birthday party - search no more - My GYM made my daugther's birthday one of a kid and unforgettable. Many of my guests sent us messages telling it was the best birthday party they have even been to. Fun, magical, full of humor making a birthday child feel very very special! i really like this place and the people here, they're so supportive, and i could tell that it's good for my son (waddler) to understand more about his body and how to move it. he had a LOT of fun, too, and the employees do an excellent job encouraging fun and movement in a safe way. it is just WAY too expensive. $125/month for one class means $31 for one class. i think a membership would make more sense if you were able to attend the free play time, but those time don't work with my schedule. it paints me to have to cancel my membership, since i know my baby has a lot of fun at this place and it would be good for him, but it's just way out of my price range. read more

What a wonderful place for a child's birthday party! A fully planned event hosted by a team that kept all the kids engaged and having an absolute blast the whole time. They were especially wonderful with a shy child who didn't know many people, and within minutes she was having a blast. We've been to a few birthday parties here and though to me it doesn't look like much, my kids always have a good time and end up a hot sweaty mess! They have a party coordinator leading activities so that they can adjust the party accordingly to the ages of the kids and it's private so that you're not running in to strangers as well. I do like the "gallery" seating so as a parent you can just watch from the windows! The party room is big enough to maneuver comfortably and the party coordinator seems to help the hosts out a lot. I've tried out My Gym's camps and classes but have mixed feelings. I like that they have a variety of equipment and set it up in different ways to keep it fresh. And Ms. Alma (one of the owners) does a good job assisting and entertaining the kids. Mr. Patrick is nice too (and the kids love his puppet shows), but he's also quick to yell at or criticize kids for fairly minor transgressions like taking a drink of water at the wrong time or getting distracted from the exercise. It feels a little harsh for preschoolers. Also on some days they allow too many kids and the class devolves into chaos. Or each kid has to spend a large amount of time waiting for their turn for each 30-second activity. I'd probably still give 4 stars except for their shady billing practices. It feels like they know many families won't stick around long and so they try to extract as much from this brief churn as they can. I'm fine with the $75 "initiation fee" and the fact that you have to pay for 4 classes at a time without any refund for unused classes. But they cross the line by keeping your credit card on file to charge you for 4 more classes long after you cancel. For example I signed up my son for the "mini ninja" class (4 sessions), which he only attended once and didn't like. So I cancelled and am totally fine with paying for the following 3 classes that he won't attend. But My Gym says they will also bill me at the end of this month for another 4 weeks that he won't be going either. I complained but they are standing their ground. I'll probably have to dispute the charge through my credit card issuer. Another shady practice is their "unlimited enrollment add-on". When you sign up for a class, it asks whether you wish to pay an extra $30/month for "unlimited enrollment". They make it sound like you can then drop into any of their classes that have space available, but really you can only use it for 45-minute free-play sessions that they only offer twice per week. I tried to cancel this add-on less than 24 hours after enrolling (once it became clear that it doesn't work for any of the normal classes), but they refused to offer any refund. I wouldn't even mind higher prices (especially if they'd make the classes smaller), but it should be up front rather than hidden cancellation fees and bait-and-switch "unlimited" add-on schemes. My Gym is a huge franchise operation with 700+ locations, but I'm sure the local franchise owners have discretion on when to provide refunds or enforce harsh financial provisions. The Bellevue location would rather give up your future business than treat you with any courtesy. read more

We went there for a 5 year old girl's birthday party yesterday and thought it was very well done. The staff was friendly, organized, got the party moving along and the children engaged. They had some games and exercises even a zip line that the kids could go on. There was a pinata that was problematic, it wasn't breaking open quite right, the young woman was able to get it taken care of... the kids were so happy. We were invited to another party that will be there in a few weeks, my son is very excited! The place was clean, well lit and smelled pretty good too. I bring my nephew here every week and he absolutely loves it. I think the staff here (Brian and Joanne) are great. I read a review about My Gym having "too" much structure and I think that's absolutely wrong, I think there is the perfect amount (enough for the kids to have interest in the skill and to try it out, sometimes multiple times). My nephew and I love My Gym, our Mondays wouldn't be complete without it. We've been coming to myGym for a little more than a year and in that time it has become a special place for my kids. They were both hesitant and clingy at the beginning but the open friendliness of the teachers and the fun atmosphere brought them past that quickly. We've tried a few different classes for each kiddo and all were mostly hits. The weekly practice & play is a great addition to the classes- especially when the weather is bad. Didn't have the best experience trying out a mini ninja class with our 2.5 year old son. Our son is the type where he likes to explore and do his own thing in a class and it seemed like the instructors were annoyed that he wasn't following the activities they had setup. They insisted on having the double doors open when it was 30 degrees out and our son had a runny nose and toes and hands were ice cold. Their only response was to layer him up to which we just decided to leave less than halfway into the class. read more

I called and made an appointment for a tour of the facility to get more information regarding having my child's birthday party at this location. The person who greeted me when I got there said Brie will help me with the tour and answer any questions I may have. This Brie person was less than helpful. It was pulling teeth getting any information out of her. Me: Hi, I spoke with a gentleman named Brian on the phone earlier this week about having my daughter's birthday here and he said that I can come in today to tour and get details of different birthday packages you guys offer. Brie: What do you want to know? Me: Can you walk me through how the facility will be set up, what activities you guys offer, where the food can be set up, etc.? Brie: Well, I can't tell you how the facility will be set up because we bring in different things on every week. Me: OK...then can you elaborate on how you guys run birthday parties? Will there be instructors or is this a free play? I was told someone can give me more details when I come in. Brie: *With annoyance* What do you want to know? Me: I just want to get a better idea of what you guys do, what kind of games will be played, where the table will be set up for the food, etc. Brie: You'll have people to run different activities. Me: Can you tell me more about the activities for the kids who are around 4-5? Brie: *With annoyance* What do you want to know? After she said "what do you want to know?" for the 3rd times, I decided not to bring my business here. It was pulling teeth and this Brie person was not offering a whole lot of information. When I asked her what her name was, she said "Sure, go! Go and call the manager! Do your thing!" I have a very active 11 month old and wanted to sign him up for a fun activity to do every week. They're one of a few places that offer activities specifically geared toward babies under 1. The membership price includes one scheduled class and one free play class, and I think the monthly membership cost is very worth it. They have wonderful staff members who organize each class with a warm up, some sort of skill activity, and a group song. The 50 minute classes constantly have a whole range of activities to keep your little one's attention. They offer one free trial class, which I highly recommend for anybody considering signing up! read more

I've been taking my little guy to My Gym for the last 5 months and we both love it. My son has always been on the shyer side, but since he started coming to My Gym, he's really come out of his shell. We are doing the older class for 2 year olds (there's usually an overlap of classes per age group) and he loves practicing his skills and playing on the equipment. Here's the deal: You can sign up for one free class. You have to do this online and create an account. At the class for 2 year olds, they start off with circle time with a child sitting with their adult basically doing fun warm up exercises. Then there is free play for about 30 mins, with the teachers bringing out optional special activities to do during the free play. Then there is either "separation time" for the younger class (kids play with toys and each other while the adults hang back and supervise) or for the older kids they have a skill building activity. The class ends with another quick song/story that helps the kids wind down. If you like the class, you can sign up for a monthly membership. It is a little pricey. You get one structured 1 hour class per week and 1 free play hour a week. Both are offered at multiple times during the week (see their website). That doesn't sound like much for the price, but the teachers do an amazing job of coming up with a new program every week with new skill building activities and they move the equipment around into different configurations to keep everything fresh for the kids. FYI for the kids 3 yrs and under this is NOT an unsupervised class. Adults NEED to be involved to help manage kid behavior as there are only 2 teachers per class. My kid got slapped by an older girl over something trivial and as irritating as it was, her mother jumped right in and smoothed it all out between the kids. My kid will sometimes not want to wait his turn for an activity or equipment but I'm there to help redirect him. Sooo I guess I just want to emphasize this an interactive activity, not a form of babysitting. I can't say enough good things about My Gym. They are flexible about schedule changes and if you have to miss your assigned weekly class, they allow make up classes pretty generously. My only complaint is that they aren't great with answering the phone. I suspect that's because they don't have one dedicated person to "work the front desk." The teachers are usually the only staff I see in the building. They usually keep their Facebook and webpage updated for any schedule changes (they follow BSD inclement weather decisions) and upcoming events. And like any adult gym I've gone to, they only want to discuss contract or event details in person. Which is fine, they are usually pretty cool with walk-in questions. They are pretty good about answering emails, usually within 24 hours. The special activities (also available to non-members!) have been fun. I definitely recommend My Gym, especially for parents of shy kids like my son. The skills he learns at My Gym has really boosted his confidence. read more

My twin boys had their first birthday party at my Gym and LOVED it. So did all the other kids who were there. We invited kids of all ages from 1-7 and the staff at My GYm did a great job of making it age appropriate for ALL of them. They were super organized and friendly. There was a good balance of organized play and free play. It was great. We will definitely do it again and would recommend it to others. Another reviewer complained about how the staff make them eat the cake in a gated off area. I think this is a good idea, otherwise the gym would be a disgusting mess with all the kids eating cake on the carpet and on the play things. I have been bringing both my kids to My Gym on and off for the past 6 years. My daughter took her first independent step at My Gym, at the late late age of 18 month. I truly believe it would have taken her longer if not for that 'gigantic' ball pit at My Gym ("Gotta get there, WALK! BALLS!!"). A big part of building her confidence took place at My Gym too, from the parents-involved to independent classes. My son is a total different animal compared to his older sister - the attention span of a gnat, and he doesn't need any prompting to charge straight ahead. But the structured classes and gentle but firm hands of the instructors there helped tamed him (a bit, not nearly enough for me, but that would be MY job!). We had all level of classes there, birthday parties there, dance recitals there, winter and summer camps there. I never have to worry about the place not being clean enough, the teachers not being nice enough, or my kids would be treated any way but the way they deserve to be treated. Let's face it - if the kid is behaving like a brat, then yeah he's not going to get away with it, and that's exactly how it should be. Of course My Gym is not for every child - just like every parent have different parenting style. If structured play is not for your child, then you are probably not going to find My Gym a good experience. It's not about good or bad, just different. As for birthday party - I've been to countless parties, certain group of kids would have more fun in structured play, others would be better in Chuck E Cheese or the Y. Again, it's different for each kid, it's the parent's job to decide what is right for your own kid. Joanne the Director, and Brian the owner, are awesome people - both of them are parents themselves, and their dedication and passion really show. The instructors are all well trained, and mostly great. Again, different personality so some may click better with kids, others may take longer. My Gym offers trial class - take advantage of those to find out if it's indeed for your kid or not. As for me, I'm sending my kids back to summer camp there, again. We've tries Stem, Ninja and Tae Kwon Do and my 7 year loves them. They are challenging and fun and a good way for kiddos to blow off steam. All three of my daughters (ages 8,7,3) have attended classes at this location for years and have loved it. Every week the play equipment is changed around so that it's new to the kids. I'm a firm believer in having a structure so that the children start learning rules at a much younger age and can take it with them in other aspects of their life. Sitting in a circle and listening to a story is needed also at other respectful places such as the public libraries, preschools and kindergarten. Even a birthday party can be a great learn opportunity to teach kids to learn to wait for cake, games, and other goodies. Plus there is no "cage" but a baby gate so that kids don't take food onto the carpeted area. The staff is like family and they really care about the community in which they live in. They had a fantastic fundraiser right after the Katrina disaster and raised quite a bit of money because one of the participants have ties to that area. They also participate in a program to give back to my older daughter's school PTA program. They are always throwing free holiday parties for the community and allow you to come check out a class for free to make sure you like it before signing up. The instructors are AMAZING and since they switch the equipment around every week, it is almost like starting a new adventure every week for my little boy. I registered online in advance and made a mistake by thinking I could do a trial class with two kids. My Gym doesn't offer family classes, but I thought having my 2 year-old and 3 year-old in the trial wouldn't matter. The person working was kind enough to explain my child was too old (3 1/2 versus 3 1/4 which was the age limit). He originally said "too tall" (she is incredibly tall) which made me wonder if he was being discriminatory, but he explained it was her age (by 3 months). He gave the girls stickers, stamps and even books! He was kind as we left. Then a few hours later, I had the rudest conversation with a staff member. She called me and was condescending in her tone. She wanted to "make sure" I understood their strict age limit policies. I honestly had let the strange (no sibling policy) go and left My Gym happy; but when she called and actually demanded to know my relationship to the girls (for her notes), I decided to write this review. We will continue on with our beloved classes, such as Waterbabies, Tiny Treks, Great Play and Kindermusik. We will continue to visit HappyNest, Dabuda, Highland Community Center and Kid's Quest. These businesses deserve our money, are flexible when I need to bring a second child to class on occasion and have earned our family's respect. read more

We've been taking our kids here for around 4 years now, and they've always been wonderful. We started off with a series of various "kids gyms" but once we found this one that was it for the rest. Good stuff, inventive songs and games, have a good collection of classes for each age group, and in each one hour class they strike a really good balance between structured activities and free play time -- something that most of the other places we tried didn't do as well to my mind (they'd either just let the kids run around with nothing organized happening, or the entire class period was a series of guided activities that, if my daughter wasn't into, meant she would quickly check out). My Gym is so fun! I am taking my third child to classes here once a week, and I definitely regret not doing this with my older two kids. The activities are directed at developing core areas appropriate for the age group. My daughter is 11 months old and walking so they work on developing their core strength and recovery techniques (because falls are unavoidable with a new walker). She LOVES it! We went there for a birthday party for a two year old and their play time was too structured. Some of the activities were okay, like the parachute game, but most of the other ones were not age appropriate. Most of the kids have an attention span of 30 seconds and they expected the kids to watch puppet shows and follow instructions like throwing a ball or run around in a circle. They have plenty of toys and equipment and it would have been better if they just let the kids play on their own. At the end, we had to gather 40 in the lobby for pizza, which was really only big enough for 15 people. Would not recommend as a birthday place for toddlers or large groups. read more

It would have been better if there were more "just play" time and less structure - the kids loved the zip line - but they only let the kids go 1 time... what 5 year old doesn't want to do it again? Timelines - it is only 1 1/2 hour for a birthday party and it was too short. The kids wanted to go play more after the cake and food, but the area was shut down... Friendly and helpful staff, but very ridged... there was a price discrepancy at the end and they accommodated the lower price and that was nice to see. I have been going to My Gym with my kids for years and absolutely love it! The classes are fabulous! The program helped my son to enter preschool with skills and confidence. He loved coming to class each week and made friendships that have continued outside of class. The staff members are friendly and really make the effort to get to know your child. My son loved it so much that he had a birthday party there. It exceeded our expectations. They made him feel like royalty and our guests had a great time as well. After our party, a few other friends booked their parties at My Gym. I love that My Gym plays "real music" during classes. It makes it a fun environment for adults too. My 8 month old daughter recently started classes at My Gym and is so excited to be there each week. The curriculum is so well thought out. I really wish all kids could experience this. read more
