More than reasonable price for a 24 hour gym in this day and age is a rare find. If you pay for a year member ship you will receive a key so that you can come any day. This gym is definitely geared towards power lifters with many squat racks (I don't think I've ever seen anyone waiting for a rack) and free weights in general. The gym is very clean and while there is no shower or additional amenities (which is perfect for me because I don't want to pay for utilities I don't use), there are 2 well cleaned individual bathrooms + small locker-rooms to change and store your belongings. It can get very hot because there is no AC but the gym has a couple fans running and really hot days someone will usually open the garage door to let air circulate. My personal interactions with fellow gym goers have been positive and they usually all keep to themselves unless you request a spot. Huge shout out to Lonnie for this awesome lifting gym for such a low price! My boyfriend and I wanted to get back into lifting, and we were looking for a gym that had all the basic lifting equipment at a decent price. I did some digging on Yelp and found Eastside! I spoke with Lonnie on the phone and he said he would let us come in for a day pass to check out the gym and decide whether we wanted to sign up. We ended up signing up and staying at Eastside for about 8-9 months before moving over to a new gym that has more frills (which we ended up wanting after 8-9 months of just lifting). Like other reviewers have mentioned, Eastside is absolutely no frills. You get a 1-year membership for around $200, which is absolutely insane. For women, there is a small locker room with some lockers, a mirror, and a shower (that I don't think is in service... at least it didn't seem to be for our 8-9 months there). I've never really had a reason to shower at any gym I've gone to, so that aspect didn't bother me. There's also a single bathroom for women, and then a locker room for men and a bathroom for men as well. I can't speak to the men's locker room/restroom. All of the equipment at the gym is fairly old, but they have just about everything you could want if you're into powerlifting. There are around 5-6 squat racks, 4 or so bench presses, tons of plates, dumbbells, benches, and more. They also have some cardio equipment (like bikes, treadmills, and ellipticals). The gym itself is fairly small, or at least it seems to be with the layout/setup of it. It always felt a little busy, but I don't remember ever really having to wait (that long) for any piece of equipment I wanted. The one major complaint I have about this place (that I'm not factoring into my rating) is the cleanliness of the gym. I never came to Eastside and felt like it was clean. I never left feeling clean either. I understood that this was the case when I signed up, so I feel like it's not fair for me to factor it into the rating! I think the gym could benefit from a major major major deep clean. If you're not bothered by that and you're looking for a cheap, no-frills gym on the east side, I'd recommend checking this place out. This gym is awesome. It's no frills for sure: small locker room with one shower and a onesie bathroom, older weight equipment (they have about one of every kind of weight machine, a few things duplicated), smallish space. BUT, the price can't be beat ($200/year for 24/7 key access--yes even on Christmas or at 2am) and neither can the atmosphere. People come here to lift and mind their own business, not pose for the mirrors, talk on their phones, or creepily ogle other people. People are also pretty good about re racking their weights and cleaning up after themselves, there's plenty of spray cleaner bottles around, and the gym staff does a good job of maintaining things around the edges. The gym is definitely geared towards powerlifting (for a small space, it's got at least 6 squat racks, 4 bench presses, tons of Olympic bars and plates, tons of benches and dumbbells, and free chalk) but don't let that intimidate you. Lonnie (the owner) and his employees/trainers are all super helpful if you ever need something or have a question. They do also have cardio equipment which looks newer compared to most of the weight machines and free weights, but that makes sense since there's more moving parts to break down. Despite the gym's smaller floorplan it never feels super crowded even at "peak" hours such as 5pm on a weekday. read more

This is almost my dream gym. No frills, no fancy anything, just plain serious weight lifting (no classes). They have all the equipment one could want for powerlifting or bodybuilding. 6 squat racks (they're high enough for tall people to do OHP), 4 bench presses, lots of different barbells, including deadlift ones, safety bars, a ton of plates, some kettlebells, two cable stations, a lot of machines and benches. You need a piece of equipment, you will find it. All of that and none of the superfluous means it attracts mostly people who are serious about their routine (all levels). Everybody keep to what they're doing, everybody is helpful, respectful and polite (ask for a spot or some help? You got it). No-one is judging, no-one is paying much attention to you and no-one is showing off. All around good vibes. Most importantly, people are actually pretty good at putting their weights away and cleaning after themselves (the old spray bottles have been replaced by disinfecting wipes) As a woman, not once have I felt uncomfortable, and that's a first. I just feel like... one of the many people working out. There ARE women there, so please don't feel intimidated. On the cardio side, several treadmills and ellipticals, and a few bikes. No rower unfortunately. The (women) locker room is ok - serves its purpose. Lockers may be a little old but again, they work (BYO lock). There's a shower (haven't used it) and a spacious (clean) bathroom. There are hooks outside the locker rooms for car keys and coats - that tells you all there is to know about the population here. No fear of theft. Is it super clean? No - I agree that the ceilings could use a good clean-up. Is it big and spacious? No - but it's not really cramped. I actually like the industrial vibe. Is the equipment brand new and shiny? No, but it's high quality, plentiful, and it WORKS. Oh, and you only pay $200 A YEAR for 24/7 access (they give you a key). Can't beat that, especially on the West Coast. Finally, shout out to Lonny. I don't see him often as I come at 6am, but he's super nice, and super helpful. I appreciated his welcome when I came back after 2 years of pandemic. Two things I would like to see? More 25lbs bumpers, please, and a pull-up station that isn't so damn high. read more

I've been coming to this gym for years. I tried 24-hour fitness for a while but felt they were overcharging for what they delivered. When they raised prices again, I went back to Eastside. The problems with this little gym include: NOISE. They play a boombox at high volume with no way to reduce the volume or what they play. I'm not a fan of acid rock. Add to that din, they have 3 TVs that blast away at high volume to compete with the boombox. There are no remote controls for any of these devices--at least not available to the members. The gym is also a magnet for weightlifters some of whom love to slam their weights on the floor. This noise is enough to drive many of us to the other end of the gym--where the boombox makes it nearly impossible to hear our trainers. Comments about this to management are met with "Well, this is a weight gym." Cleanliness: The men's locker room is constantly littered with discarded underwear and other clothing, water bottles, and other sundry crap. Some lockers are rusty and all of them are dirty--covered with years of dust and grime. They are also not anchored to the wall. I nearly pulled then entire locker over when steadying myself. Invariably, we come to the gym to find weights strewn around, and other equipment scattered all over the gym. Old equipment: All of the equipment is dated and while most of it still works, in many cases the rubber handles are worn off, the ropes frayed, the adjustment mechanisms are stiff or inop, and the overall condition is sad. Each time I visit, I try to use the stationary bikes and have discovered that only one of the three really works very well. Today, the left pedal of that bike was broken but no sign was placed on it to say that it has been reported. While they have a full-time attendant, I have seen him vacuum, but never make an attempt to keep the place clean or picked up. I will say that they don't charge much. I guess you get what you pay for. I just wish the owner took more pride in their establishment and invested a bit more work in its upkeep and were more sensitive to the needs of their clients. Nope, I'm done. I like the people I've met there, most are considerate and helpful, with only a few who disregard the noise-sensitivity of the other members. read more

So I came to Washington for a friends wedding for a whole week. I live in Los Angeles, California and I've been training for years. Even on vacations I need to get my lift in as I'm just a passionate lifter and love fitness (hence why I'm a personal trainer/coach now) and I was calling multiple gyms once I got into town. Most of the bigger chained gyms were not really willing to help me out with a week pass. I offered to pay what I had to so I could get my workouts in. I find Eastside on google and call. Lonny, the owner, answered the phone and I chatted with him about my situation and he happily said I could train there for a week for a small fee. I was ecstatic because 1. The fee was NOTHING for a weeks worth of gym. The gyms in LA would charge 3-4x the amount for a weeks pass. 2. The welcoming attitude of the owner was just very appreciated. I come to the gym and pay the fee and start working out and I'm in literal heaven. I love old school bodybuilding/ powerlifting gyms and you don't get many of those out in LA. A great no-frills gym with old-school but highly functional equipment. It's great for powerlifting, as they have six full squat racks, four benches, as well as Texas Power bars and Deadlift Bars. Because it's lacking in some machinery (hip adductor machine, ab crunch machine), if you're more into bodybuilding you're probably better off going to somewhere like Gold's Gym, but Eastside Gym is great for training the big 3. The owner is incredibly friendly and everyone I've seen there is dedicated to working out. I wish there was a bigger restroom/locker space and a dedicated area to perform stretches with a yoga mat, but for less than 30 bucks a month, I have no complaints. I have belonged to Eastside for just about a year. The owner Lonny is great. I tend to workout very early hours of the morning and was provided a key to access the gym if Henry isn't in yet. Being able to open the doors myself at 4:30AM is awesome, especially when it's been hot out the day before. It's nice to get some air moving in there. There's never a wait for equipment early in the morning. The selection of equipment is perfect. They have a massive amount of free weights, two squat racks and dumbbells that go to 150lbs each. I love that you can pull 500+LB deadlifts or farmer walk with the 150lb dumbbells and not have people look at you like you're crazy! If needed, other members or Lonny are always wiling to help with a spot! The atmosphere is the best of any gym I've been to. Nothing like the large chain places that only want to sell you training packages and have their members more concerned with flexing in the mirror or talking than actually lifting weights. The cost simply can't be beat. Pre-pay for a year is the way to go. read more

On a lark I dropped by Eastside one and a half years ago, with vague ideas of joining a gym and getting into barbell training as a complete novice (I was 55 at the time). Lonnie, the owner, answered all the questions I had, and suggested I start with the Stronglift 5×5 program. The next two days I stopped by, he personally coached me through the five basic compound lifts, and pointed me to additional resources to check out as homework. He did all this without charging me a penny. I've been weight training ever since, and really owe it to his natural friendliness and welcoming nature. I love this gym. Yes, it's the best deal I've ever seen by a long long ways. What really brings me back week in and week out, though, is the relaxed atmosphere -- it feels as much like home as any gym ever could. Walk in any time and you'll see young folks, old guys and gals, walking tanks, keyboard jockeys, lifetime lifters, men, women, newbies -- a complete variety of people. I am new and so far have come during the day, before work, and after work and my experiences have all been good. Plenty of street parking if the lot gets full. Everyone seems to have good gym etiquette and people are friendly but mostly just focused on their work out. The gym has a great amount of free weights and benches with a wall of mirrors to check your form. I'm by far the least in shape person every time I go - I have more than 100lbs to lose - but I have not once felt intimidated or out of place. I actually look forward to my gym time here! If you need fancy locker rooms and a pool this is not the gym for you but if you want to combine cardio with weight training it's great and so affordable! The gear is well used but it all works - I couldn't imagine a better gym for what I'm looking for. read more

The Eastside gym is great for those of us that want to get in, work out, and get out. There is never any problems with Parking, no waits for equipment, and the managers are awesome and just kinda hang out around the gym; very friendly. They have a ton of free weights and good equipment to get in shape and stay that way. The Price is the most attractive part, I paid around 70$ for 3 months! The only drawback is that there is no real amenities other than 2 small locker rooms. If your looking for a good gym to lift and tone then this is your place. Used to be a Redmond native till I moved but most of my family is still in this area, this is the gym membership I purchase when I come for a visit. The owner usually is happy to only charge me for a month but with Covid fucking their business they are sticking to the 3 month minimum plan which I totally understand. I'm happy to pay whatever it costs to support this locally owned small business, both owners are great guys and the gym is filled with all the equipment you could possibly need whether your goal is power lifting or bodybuilding. After researching gyms in the Kirkland, Redmond, Totem Lake area, I stumbled upon this jewel. For many years I was a patron of the 24 hour fitness chain however, I got tired of the 'peak' hours at the gym which meant no parking spots, no free machines, and I got tired of having sales people constantly trying to sell me expensive packages. I walked into Eastside Gym a month ago and was greeted with a hearty handshake from Lonnie the owner and I haven't looked back. What I need and at a price I'm pretty pleased with. (199 for 12 months, 130 for 6 months). This beats out the brand gyms in the area if you don't need anything fancy and just want a place to lift weights or use some cardio machines. With the purchase of a year long membership you'll also get a key that'll let you have access to the gym after hours (Ronnie, the owner, closes up shop when he leaves sometime during the night but technically no hours are listed since it does vary from time to time from what I can tell). Good number of squat racks, benches, and free weights as well as a slight focus on machines if that's more your type (mostly just one-ofs though). The gym stays mildly busy throughout the normal times of the day but usually never so much that the gym is over-saturated with people. read more

Such a kickass gym! If you're a lifter living on the eastside, you gotta check this place out.... Three squat racks+a squat stand, plenty of benches, a deadlift jack, chains, resistance bands, bumper plates, loads of (older) dumbells, various machines..... Fellow members are super friendly and always willing to spot, take advice/give advice and the owner, Lonny, is there a majority of the time (and super helpful as well). There really aren't any down falls to this gym if you're looking for an affordable place to LIFT.
