I love this new place. Yes, you have to make an appointment. I think it's better like that rather than waiting to be called. This place accepts credit and debit cards, but the downside is that the machine doesn't work. So BRING CASH. I had Isabel and Rosa both women are super sweet and nice. Even if you have your acrylic nails done by some place else, you're still able to go in. Fill in and color change is $35. They don't charge if you want to cut your nails shorter! (Which is a + for me!!) they are very detail oriented and do their job correctly. I will definitely go back. Most definitely will bring others with me. read more

They do a great job but the manager is very rude and unwelcoming. I don't like her attitude when I come in and don't have an appointment. I came in to get a pedicure and gel manicure and she basically turned me away in a sarcastic manner because I didn't have an appointment. I didn't mind waiting but her attitude made me not even want to spend my money there. How do you turn away money as a business owner. She needs to have a sign that says appointments only! I called to ask what time they took their last nail customer. I was told 6pm. I drove over there, walked in 5 mins to 6, and was told they can't take me. I thought they were very rude and unprofessional. I wouldn't have been upset if I just walked in, but the fact that I called in advance and the same woman I spoke to on the phone was the same on that turned me away. Best nail i have been to in NJ so far. I went to several in Maplewood/South Orange and they are only good for the basics. Chic Nails is my new spot and worth the drive (and parking spot look). Hot stone massage included, picked great colors for my unusual designs from Pinterest, friendly, peaceful but not boring atmosphere. I liked this place the past two times going to it, today I went and was told they have something open at 130, I said okay I'll be back and left. Came back at 130 and was told they don't have anything until 6. Then I was rudely told that I didn't not say I was coming back. Called last minute to try a new place and I'm quite happy with the results! They fit me in their schedule, took me on time, removed my existing gel properly and gently, and my nails look great. It was clean, bright and friendly. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the nail technician had to keep answering the phone to make appointments, but it wasn't that big of a deal. I have been coming here for the past few months. The nail technicians are friendly and kind, the gel manicures last on average about 3 weeks, sometimes longer. I have not been able to find a salon in the area whose gel manis lost more than 2. This is the best place in the area. Its a little bit more expensive than some salons, but it is well worth the price. They do this great hot stone massage as part of the basic pedi package, along with a hot towel massage, in addition to the run of the mill scrub rub and whirlpool foot bath. They go the extra mile and it is a good value. O havent dont any of the upgrades yet, but they are only about $8-10 more. Looking forward! I also brought my husbad here for his first ever pedi. I won't go to any other place to get a gel manicure ($30) and pedicure. The staff is kind and professional. I've never had to wait more than five minutes to see someone to get my nails done, but I also make sure to avoid peak hours and weekends. It's always clean. This is hands-down the BEST place I've ever been for a gel/shellac manicure in my entire life. I've been coming here for months and have never had a single complaint about the job they do; never a nicked cuticle, never a rough edge, and never a manicure that's lasted less than 3 weeks. Technicians are all very friendly and detail oriented. Finally, you can't beat the price for the service you receive- I have never been to a salon that does a full gel manicure for less than $35, but here it is. if your'e getting gels i will give you a heads up...be very clear with your technician. they mix gel polish brands and uv lights, which you're really not supposed to do with gels. my gels started lifting after about a week. i also spent hour trying to safely remove the gel from my nails at home (without scraping which causes damage). it's taking forever, and i'm annoyed now bc i think they used an opi base coat, even though my color was a certain brand. i said i didnt want opi products, bc its very hard to remove. they have no business charging 30 for gels. quality is more like 20/25 dollars. also, their business hours are inconvenient. there's only four stations and they close at 6:30, meaning no appointments after 6. I work nearby so unless i go during lunch, its hard to make it. read more

I'm a bit OC when it comes to my gel mani ( I hate seeing the polish in my cuticle) but I was lucky to stumble upon My Chic nails when I was searching for a nail salon . I went in on a Tuesday morning and I was immediately serviced. I did not have to wait nor did I make an appointment. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing and also very clean . Tried to make appointment on the spot to remove a gel manicure and have a regular manicure done. A woman just looked at me and said "there are no appointments".
