What a great find. Plenty of restaurants in Italy, but not many have good beer (Peroni is NOT good beer.) This place has a few on tap, many craft bottles, and were just so kind. Even brought us out some delicious fried zucchini as a treat. Step off the beaten path and enjoy a nice Birra from the heart of Rome! read more

This is definitely the place to go for Italian craft beer. This review is only for the craft beer selection. I had the Spaghetti Western imperial dark coffee stout which was excellent. It tasted similar to other coffee stouts I've had in the states. Keep in mind that this place is tiny with not much space inside, but it's very cozy. They gave us complementary bread as well. Also note that they have unusually limited hours and close around 7 pm. It's not really a bar, but more of a small restaurant that serves you upfront. I definitely recommend this place off the beaten path for craft beer. read more

This great beer shop was immediately across the street from our B&B. The proprietor knows beer and has a number of off list beers that can satisfy any taste (and his printed list is fairly comprehensive). He works the small bar and makes all the food and snacks. The food is all fresh, quite a bit is organic, and simply pleasurable. It also is well matched to the beer. For the non-beer lovers, or just the lovers, there is a small selection of wine. So, beer, charcuterie, sandwiches, even pizza. All in an intimate but not invasive space. We visited in that time between walking the ancient paths of Rome and locating dinner. Excellent and worth the effort finding. Eat well, tip well. read more

An absolute must stop for anyone in the city. It's small for sure but I continuously find myself day dreaming at lunch time back in Detroit for one of their amazing, fresh, delicious sandwiches. If I only had a day to spend in Rome again, this would be one of my stops. The owner was super passionate and friendly. The beer selection was amazing. And now I'm hungry again for a sandwich that's 4,600 miles away on the other side of the planet :-( read more

We have been traveling through Italy on our honeymoon and have had many wonderful Italian beers thus far. This place is no joke. Great beer selection accompanied by delicious pork sandwiches and other variety. I would give this place two thumbs up. The music, which has not been mentioned before, was great and added to the total ambience. While there, we met an American expatriate who has lived here for 12 years and loves the place. We loved Marco and My Ale! Perfectly located right across the street from our flat on Cappellari! Wonderful sandwiches, juice drinks and beer. We enjoyed this restaurant twice during our stay in Rome and it would be a regular stop for us. Although we loved the pizza in Rome, when we wanted a change, Marco's fresh panini style sandwiches were the change of pace we needed. Well done, Marco. Tell Nicola we say hello! The owner Marco was so kind and friendly to us "tourists" he made a panini i never thought could be so good, but than again he freshly sliced the cured brochette and used his own, light and fluffy baked flatbread. So yummy! As an American tourist, Italian food is obviously delicious, but you may need a break from pasta, pizza and wine. This is a great place for some craft beer and paninis. It's SUPERRR tiny, so hopefully you get there when it's not busy because there's only about 8 stools and you can't fit any more people in there than about that. Other than it being small, it's delicious, fairly priced, and friendly service. read more

Great place after a full day on our feet at the Vatican. Great beer selection and good food. Really enjoyed the Strong Lager Falesia, and the assorted meats. My Ale is a tiny little spot just a few blocks from the craziness of Campo di Fiori, but it feels miles away. It's super charming, with free wifi and a wonderful little counter to sit. Fantastic food with high-quality organic ingredients (if you order a sandwich, you'll watch Marco assemble the ingredients right in front of you, slicing the prosciutto from the block, letting you choose the cheese, etc). Same goes if you order a juice! Besides coffee and food, My Ale also serves as a kind of high-class deli, where you can purchase different meats and cheeses to go (also organic!). One of the first places I discovered here in Rome and still one my absolute favorites. They use only the highest quality ingredients and there is something for everyone on this menu. I have tried every single sandwich and I enjoyed them all. If it's a one time trip here don't forget to try the zabaione! We stopped here while staying in the old historic center of Rome. I wanted to try some Italian craft beer and my wife wanted something simple like wine and panini. We saw good reviews on Yelp and in spite of my past experiences of loving Italian food and wine, but not being very impressed with Italian beers, I figured we'd give it a go. The place is very small, maybe ten or so people capacity, but it's a fun little space. As others have said, the owner is very friendly and clearly enjoys what he does. The beers were better than I expected and a move in the right direction compared to previous experiences with Italian beers, but I still think they are a bit lacking compared to other places (like the micro breweries back home in Colorado USA) or a quality German, Belgian or Polish beer. Nevertheless, the panini we had was absolutely fantastic. The bread was wonderful, fresh, home-made Focaccia. By far, it was THE best bread we had in two full weeks staying in Italy. The rest of the panini was excellent as well. Just really simple, great quality food. The wine was very good quality and reasonably priced as well. Although still partial to non-Italian beers (thus 4 stars instead of five) I'd say if your looking for great food and wine in a friendly, small atmosphere, you've got a five star establishment in My-Ale. read more

Enjoyed a great sandwich from this funky little place for lunch. I was impressed with the choices and quality of ingredients. I went traditional with a ham, mozzarella, and basil sandwich. The meat was hand cut and delicious. Ripe tomatoes and very fresh focaccia. The owners were helpful and pleasant. Overall a great lunch or dinner panini stop. read more
