Very cool spot, I highly recommend a visit if you are a tourist, exchange student, expat or just have not gotten a chance to get exposure to a lot of Italian and European craft beer. I like to think that living in Marin county and the bay area, I'm a bit spoiled with many many great microbrew/craft beer options. Some of the biggest names on the west coasts have tasting rooms, or physical locations very near where I live. However, we have had very little exposure to European and Italian makers in the same vein. Enter establishments like Bir & Fud to save the day. Even if you are not familiar with all the makes and names of the beer on tap, the knowledgeable bartenders will help you out with tastings and advice. These days, tourism for me basically equates to walking around all day looking at stuff. It's a given that my feet and legs feel like they are about to fall off at the end of such activities. So it is quite the reprieve to sit at the bar like Bir & Fud and knock back a couple delicious brews before calling it a day. Go here and try a beer you haven't had before. You can thank me later.

Plenty of craft brew to choose from.

Who would have thought that I came to Italy and Drank more beer than wine? The craft beer movement in Italy is most evident at Bir & Fud. After enjoying a Pizza around the corner at Dar Poeta we came here to sample their beer. The selection is vast and they have 4-5 Cask Ales as well. Beer here is 5 euro a glass. I tried the Cask Ale and then had a Belgium both excellent. We returned the following day and had the burger, another first for me in Italy. It was delicious. Bir & Fud is beautifully decorated inside, has an attractive bar area and outdoor seating as well. We opted to sit at the bar both times because I wanted to be as close to the beer as possible......

If my entire trip to Rome lasted one hour and then I had to fly back, I would spend all of it at this restaurant. You don't need to visit Naples to taste authentic Neapolitan pizza. The place is a gem shown to me by a local, which says something. Tucked nicely into Trastevere, you'll probably already be in the area and should make the stop. An inconspicuous facade, from my experience in Italy, generally means good things. If pizza isn't your thing, and maybe it would be if you tried it here, then perhaps come to sample some of there excellent craft beers. I sampled the smoked schlenkerla urbock. It was one of the most unique and tasty I've ever had. Definitely smoked. I could go on and on, but forget the hype and just come see for yourself.

Great pizza, not easy to find since it is tucked in on the side of bigger restaurants. They have an enormous beer selection. The best pizza we've had in Rome. We had extra garlic on each and added a little spicy flavor.

Our first stop in Rome, we were greeted with a huge selection of craft beers and a tempting menu. We walked over the Ponte Sisto bridge into the Trastevere district and stopped in Bir and Fud. It looks small from the outside by stretches back quite a bit. We walked by the bar with all of the beers on tap and into the back dining area, which looked modern. More like something you would see in a trendy spot in the States rather than Ancient Rome. Our pizza came out fairly quickly. Just a note, my girlfriend and I both ordered our own pizza, but they are certainly big enough to split amongst two people. We ended up taking away nearly an entire pizza between our two. The pizza was very good. The crust was light and crisp and the ingredients were very fresh. I went with a tomato, basil, buffalo mozzarella pizza. Definitely a cool place to check out. If you're from the States, you'll likely feel right at home here.

The restaurant is a must go, without any doubts. They have pretty good beer selection, and decent pizza. I will definitely go back to this restaurant if I ever visit Rome. The minus one star is for the service. The waiter seem not very friendly.

The Double Margherita pizza - glorious!

Our fantastic tour guide at the Colosseum highly recommended this place and we were not disappointed! We arrived at around 7pm and were told that we could be seated immediately if we were willing to be done at around 9pm because of previous reservations - we were happy to accommodate! The menu was easy to understand and had loads of fantastic choices, but I knew what I wanted as soon as I saw a master pizza maker loading amazing-looking pizzas into a wood-fired oven. We started with some of their homemade potato chips with homemade ketchup while we had our drinks. The waiter was patient and helpful while recommending some local ciders and beers. And then our glorious pizzas arrived. I ordered the Scarolone - Mozzarella cheese, raw endive, olives, capers, anchovies, and my kids ordered the Double Margherita - Tomato, mozzarella cheese, basil, fresh buffalo mozzarella. I have to admit, I was a little jealous when I saw the mouth-watering cheesiness of their double margheritas, but mine was equally as tasty! I would heartily recommend Bir & Fud for their ambiance, their craft beer selection, their friendliness, and the neighborhood.

Great local beer selection. Nice big bar. Beer tenders super friendly and helpful for those of us not from around here! Definitely a good stop!

YOU HAVE TO COME TO THIS RESTAURANT. The eggplant parmigiana was the best dish I've ever tasted in my entire life. It was also only six euros. The beers are very good as well! Something for everyone's taste palette. Service was great. The menu is badly translated, but we managed.

Pale ales to start! Very good.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to this restaurant / bar on our first afternoon in Rome after arriving at our hotel near the Ponte Sisto - the oldest bridge in Rome! This restaurant is located in the Trastevere area, which is packed with great places to eat and drink. Bir & Fud has an excellent menu of beers on tap, along with outstanding choices of Roman and Italian dishes. They have English menus too, which was nice. We ordered a few pale ales and the chips with vanilla ketchup to start. Let me tell you, you don't need chips if you're getting pizza. We could barely finish them! (But they were delicious!) For pizza, we got the standard tomato, mozzarella and basil, and then the interesting sausage and potato. Just incredible, honestly the best pizza in Italy so far, and we have visited Venice and Florence too!

Great find in the Travestere neighborhood. My husband loved the local draft beers and I enjoyed a lemon soda that was delicious. We got the trio fritti, which was amazing! Our first time trying fritti did not disappoint.

Stemmed glassware is always a PLUS!

Bir & Fud is a quaint little craft beer bar / restaurant in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. We ate dinner there on a Wednesday around 6:30pm so it wasn't crowded at all. Main restaurant seating is in the back ... handful of tables outside, which seem always occupied (but for good reason - great people watching). Front of the restaurant is a long narrow space which is where the bar is located). Bir & Fud has a very solid tap selection ... definitely one of the better ones in Rome. Food was average ... wasn't really wow'd by anything we had. Service was solid ... prices were fair leaning to a bit high. There's wifi so that's always a plus for the kids. Mostly locals here, which is a good thing. Pro Tip - if you go to Bir & Fud, make sure you visit my favorite craft beer bar in Rome, Ma Che, which is located directly across the street.

    Potatoes, Sausage, and Rosemary.

I was actually surprised by Bir & Fud. It's a hipster-type restaurant with a cheeky name in the middle of the oldest part of Rome -- the Trastevere. I assume the name is meant to attract tourists, and it definitely worked. Bir & Fud has a pretty large selection of pizzas and beers. I ordered a pizza with potatoes, sausage, and rosemary. The potatoes were super fluffy and buttery; it was like biting into a cloud. It was good, but not great. And, same goes for the beer. If you want a modern, clean restaurant (with clean restrooms) and good food, come to Bir & Fud. If you want authentic Italian dishes, go elsewhere.

    Lemon zest pizza.
