    Carne Guisada Bowl
    Kent R.

Had to go check out this "first of its kind" restaurant the other morning for breakfast. I had seen all kinds of pics online of Chef Edward's food, if you know San Antonio, you should know his style! Mxicanna is the first CBD friendly eatery in town with plenty of options to choose from. This Tex-Mex spot isn't your standard run of the mill taqueria that's on every corner. It's got your favorites, they're just cooked with love, respect, and pure awesomeness!! The setting inside is so relaxed and chill. Little upstairs area with couches where you can chill with some friends. The painting on the wall is incredible. Love the logo. Open kitchen so you can see Chef Ed getting down on those amazing dishes. Speaking of...so the food. The Carne Guisada bowl I guarantee will destroy whatever opinion you had on tenderness of meat. It melts away, so tender with that red chili enveloped sauce that it's braised in. The torta toast points are fun and very much useful when you scoop up all that meaty goodness with! Especially with those glorious sunny sides on top. His papas though. Seriously. Get a side of them and thank me later. Literally the crispiest potatoes I've ever had, drizzled with some kind of tasty aioli that brings it together. You could scrape the taters and it sounds like pork belly skin. Unreal. Go support this place y'all! Anything Chef Ed puts on your plate, you're gonna be very happy I promise. I'll be back for lunch this eeek guaranteed.

WOW...if you are in the San Antonio area this gem is a must visit. The empanadas were picture perfect and tasted heavenly. If you get Carne Guisada Cheeseburger add a fried egg to it !!! Ed (owner and chef) is a true gentleman and great guy.

I'm back again and food is so damn good. Got the Pork Ribs with Fried rice and the meat was so tender and flavorful! Also if you come have to have the Carne Guisada Empanadas. I wish I would of gotten a pic of it .

    Chorizo and Egg Burger

ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS PLACE, if i could rate this more stars I absolutely would. Everything about the food was amazing. The overall experience was enjoyable for me and my family. I ordered the Chorizo and Egg burger. The burger was made with perfection. The egg was amazing, the chorizo was scrumptious. Everything was so yummy. Munched on it and enjoyed every last bite. We ordered banana bread at the end of our dinner and it came out beautifully. Everyone enjoyed the food they got served. Place was clean and the service was super great! Will come back here or door dash when they have it available, worth every dollar.

I didn't need extra fat from avocado after the corn cakes since it doesn't add much flavor to the dish. The corn cakes are good and I will order again but not as good as some other cornbread. It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. I wish it was a fluffy whip cream to cut down from all the sweetness. Overall it's still a better tres leches than other places in the area.

It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The food was flavorful and unique. We had a wonderful dinner with my family at Carriqui.

Service is fast, place is decently clean for the foot traffic, the servers all look happy and eager to work. I ordered tortilla soup, I usually like it with a cup of rice and avocado like most places serve it. However, I definitely think this is a safe Mexican food restaurant when it comes to not overdoing it with spices and the extra stuff. My soup had a decent amount of chicken. I had a mimosa, loved that they used fresh orange juice. Flour tortillas were delicious! Before heading out you need to have the sweet bread!! So goooodd!

People say when in San Antonio, do like the San Antonian's. Nobody really says that. I mean, I just…read moredid, but I also just made it up. With that being said, let's make up a review. Except I'm not actually making the review up, I've been to the place. Both San Antonio and the restaurant moments away from being reviewed. I'm always down for solid Mexican food. It's always pretty damn good. I mean, at the pure base of things, it's basically the same few ingredients, just different vessels to get it to your mouth. I'm never bad about that. I love transportation. Mi Tierra was a pretty great looking place. Plenty of space, a nice outside waiting area, plus a bakery. I have never been to a place with a bakery that I didn't like. It seemed like a very authentic place, and that's coming from a resident of Michigan. A resident that eats Taco Bell. A resident who eats Taco Bell and think's THAT'S authentic Mexican. The first thing I noticed was that this place did not seem to serve burritos. Not a marker really for me, but it was something I've never came across before. I also thought that you were stuck ordering enchiladas or tacos in a meal type of setting. Upon further questioning, you can order a la cart. That was a relief. I ended up ordering the enchiladas Verdes because sometimes I ignore my color palate and go for green. And because I can't just stop eating one form of meat, cheese, and sauce, I ordered a taco. Actually, I just ordered a taco because I wanted a dryer enchilada. Or did I order the enchiladas because I wanted a wetter taco...I don't know anymore. Anywho, I ground beef, American style taco. Now, I've always been a big fan of chips and salsa. Some salsa hits, some miss. Some salsa is pureed and is basically red water. Some salsa is just a full tomato. I like my salsa like I like my orange juice. With extra calcium. Wait. Mild pulp. That's it. This salsa pretty much hit those notes. Had good flavor and a little spice left to linger. The main course came out and everything looked delicious. Green enchiladas looked exactly like I expected. However, it took me a moment to realize I was not looking at a burrito...but instead, my taco. It was served a peculiar way. wrapped, seam down, with a little bit of the meat on top, pico and lettuce on the outside, next to it. It was a burrito peacocking as a taco. I've never seem this display before, and I have been to many Taco Bell and non-Taco Bell restaurants. The taste was pretty good, though. All the taco flavor in a burrito jacket. The enchiladas were pretty decent, too. Everything tasted like it had all the ingredients and that they were in all the right spots. No doubt about it, I was full after e

Both my wife and I ordered breakfast plates--hers was the chorizo and egg and mine, huevos rancheros. The restaurant was empty besides one diner sitting outside with her dog and one family inside which should have been a red flag to stay away. My chorizo and potatoes were cold and my beans were not hot either. This was not like it had cooled down--cold. The ranchero sauce looked bad and all of the food on my plate had no flavor, no seasoning, literally no effort whatsoever. I had a bug crawl across my hand while we were there as well. She had the issue with her plate, food was not even warm. The tortillas were hot and tasted good so that was how I warmed up my food. Our waiter also decided that he would cross the street to go speak to a woman at the little outdoor patio restaurant across the street on the corner. Not kidding, he was there for at least five or ten minutes just talking to her. I have always wanted to try Tito's and wanted something new to us but I guarantee there is no way we will ever go back. We left hungry, disappointed and embarrassed by what we just went through.
