Got custom fireplace doors for an original brick fireplace (I.e. non prefab, random size opening)…read more The results were great, measurements were right on, the finish was good and the welds looked professional. Packed well too. Sure, a big box store door would have been cheaper but then we wouldn't have been able to pick the size, finish material, handles etc. Plus this frame is THICK - all welded barstock, not a bit of sheet steel to be seen!

If you are going to install anything yourself or have someone other than their installer do this…read moreAVOID these people. We bought a ventless gas log set from them. I wanted to support a local business and had naïvely felt that they would stand behind what they sold so I did not mind paying the extra money. I would have been way better off buying it on Amazon or another site online! I already had the gas line so I just needed to replace the old log set. First of all, when my wife picked it up you must sign a waiver that says you have a total of 24 hours to inspect everything. Then they have a clause in the waiver that states it may need "FINE" tuning. They also claim they do not do the installation and support they have contractors that do it, but their website clearly states they do installs and service. I installed the unit and it would run for a minute and turn off. I went to the manufactures website and found out you cannot contact them or get support; you must contact the dealer you bought it from. I called to find out how to get it fixed under warranty. Now even though the website is covered with service and support options I was told they don't do the service or support I needed to call their contractor and schedule a service call. When you call the contractor it sends you back to Albers to schedule the service call ?????? Oh, and that is $300. The tech came out and found out the thermocouple was not near the pilot light, and he needed to take it all apart then move the pilot light and the thermocouple, so they got next to each other and aligned. I have a checkout sheet with the unit that states who built it and tested it, it all says it was all tested and passed. So, I called back again to see how I could get credit for the fixing the manufactures defect. I was now told that since they did not have to replace any parts it was not a manufactures defect in workmanship it was a "FINE TUNING" and therefore it was not covered, and I had to pay the $300 myself. So, I should not expect to pay over $2000 for a gas log set and then expect it to work out of the box. Imagine if you bought a fancy gas stove and one of the burns did not light so you called Maytag and they fixed it and handed you a bill for $300 tow day safter you bought it. Albers sees no problem with this. If I had just bought it from Amazon or another online vendor I could have packed it up and got another one that was manufactured correctly. Instead, it cost me extra to by it and then $300 extra to get it to work.

Couldn't have had a better experience…read more There are two things people want when they need help with home projects: competece and honesty. I am fortunate to have found both in Pete. I had an emergency issue regarding my gas furnace and chimney and of the several companies that came to examine the problem (some of which are well known and highly rated) Pete was the only one to correctly diagnose the issue. In doing so, he saved me much money at his own expense and (more importantly) helped keep my family warm. Now, whether that is an indictment on the honesty of others or their lack of experience compared to that of Pete, I daren't speculate. Moreover, he gave me tips about my fireplace. He was prompt, affable, and patient enough to answer my myriad questions. When i have further work to do on my chimney his will be the first number I dial.

BEWARE! I had my chimney liner replaced by Pete Soot two years ago (October 2024). He had good…read morereviews, seemed knowledgeable, pricing was fair and was communicative. I thought he completed the job correctly, but I was wrong. Fast forward to September 2026 and I just completed an oil to gas conversion. The furnace company's chimney folks came to do a pre-inspection and discovered that Pete's installation was not only substandard, but not up to code. He was supposed to pull a permit, which he did not. He had cemented down the chimney cap instead of screwing it down properly. He was supposed to install a chimney plate but instead used insulation. The cement crown was not properly installed and he cut many corners with the installation of the piping into the wall and chimney liner. I was told he took a short cut and the pitch was wrong, causing condensation, among other issues. Basically, I was told that it was an amateur job that could not be certified and was not up to code. I called Pete who initially responded and said not to worry and he would take care of it, but then he completed ghosted me. He has since avoided all my calls and texts. I had three other chimney companies come to evaluate and they showed me the photos of the work that Pete did...and they all had similar feedback about the substandard workmanship. I don't normally write negative reviews, but I don't want someone else to end up like me. Lesson learned. Now i know to insist on a permit and withhold payment until it passes inspection.
