Wow, where to begin. Let's just say I will never go back MVD Express and if somebody mentions it to me, they would surely get the stank eye (picture Eddie Griffin in the movie "The New Guy"). Now imagine this, the place wasn't busy. It was 45 minutes until closing time and only one person was ahead of me. I was greeted and asked what I was there for. I replied, I came in to renew my plates and to inquire on the new NM chile pepper plates (three times). They ask you at the door. Then someone asked me when they took my paperwork. I'm assuming to expedite things since in was nearing closing time. And then, after a 10 minute wait while no one else was being helped and at least three employees were either standing or sitting apparently doing something, I was asked a third time what I was there for by the employee who waited on me. I explained that I needed to renew my license plates for my vehicle and would like to get the new chile pepper plate depending on the cost. I asked her if she needed my renewal information besides the vehicle registration that someone had taken earlier. She said no and proceeded. She gave me the total which I paid. I was given my new fancy/ubercool plates and went home to the dinner that awaited me (not thinking that it was necessary to check the tag-surely they hire competent staff who are able to communicate and have a grasp of the English language). I get home and of course the tag reads Aug 2017 and there is only three days left in the month. Needless to say I wasn't happy. I went in the next day after work to see what could be done. We could sell you a renewal but the will be another $29.99 charge. Uh, no thanks. I ended up having to take a day off work to go the the DMV. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and the staff was much more pleasant. Hhhmmmm, where do you think I will be going from now on. read more

Worst customer service experience. The office in Las Cruces NEEDS leadership and training. It's embarrassing that an government agency can do a better job than a private business. Very sad. read more

I wanted to renew my New Mexico drivers license. I called ahead time to find out what I needed to bring besides my current drivers license that had been issued a few years ago. I was being proactive, finding out what items I needed. Because I was driving 45 one way to renew my licenses. I call back a couple of days later to confirm the list of items I needed to bring with me. Both times the list was basically the same. Current drivers license, Social Security card, birth certificate, two utility bills dated within 60days showing my name & address. I gathered what was required. Drove 45 miles, was told I needed to bring my marriage certificate from 1972. Because my birth certificate last name didn't match my current New Mexico Driver License. Hello, women change their last names when they marry. I was not trying to change my last name. My last name has been the same since 1972. It was not a problem when I renewed my license last time. I was not allowed to complete the transaction. Needless to say I was beyond frustrated, will never go back to that place. read more

The first time my husband and I came here was about 13 years ago and the employees were great. Their customer service was stellar and it was fast, convenient and easy. I don't know what happened in these past years but I came here today with my Mom to get an ID. She is now disabled and wheelchair bound so getting her around by myself is not always an easy task. I must admit that I was disgruntled with the new rules for acquiring a New Mexico ID. But the fact that the MVD employees completely lacked in empathy and manners only made it worse. In the eight times that my mother and I came in and out of that door (we were there the previous week too), nobody helped us out by even holding a door open, despite the fact that there was a woman standing in the front who I believe was a greeter? I don't really know what she was because she never greeted us. Anyways, I am always appalled at employees who are PAID for their time on the clock, this is after all their JOB, but yet are unable to say "Hello," "I apologize for the inconvenience," "Thank you," and "You're welcome." Nope. Not a word. They had some great employee to employee conversation going though. But as for me and my mother, apparently we were disrupting their day. A word of advice to the employees at this particular MVD. Try to be nice. You're getting paid for your time. Your customers are not. It would have taken one tiny word of empathy or a simple "I'm sorry for the inconvenience," to make me feel that as a customer, my business was valuable to you. I might think that this was a one time "off day" for this group, but they were making fun of the other disgruntled customers in there too. My husband also had the same experience trying to renew his drivers license about a month ago. Just rude and completely lacking in kindness and manners. I have lived on and off in New Mexico for the past 10 years and have always come to this MVD Express to get my driver's license reissued, register my car, etc. I don't mind paying extra $$ because I have always experienced five-star, excellent service EXCEPT today. The first person who attended to me, Krystal, told me I didn't have the right documents and assumed I was just bringing a regular ID without seeing the ID I actually brought. Just like a previous reviewer, I felt interrupted and unable to finish. I ended up actually having the right documents. Then Vanessa, the woman who actually did the three services I was there for was bordering on rude and defensive whenever I asked to clarify prices or asked for more information. Her answers were snappy and really defensive when I was just asking for her to repeat information. To top it off, she had to call me after I got home to tell me she had overcharged me. To be fair, they did return the extra money and I did get out of there within an hour. However, since I know I paid quite a bit of money for each transaction I did today (total of 3) and yet got less than friendly customer service, I might just consider going to a government office and not regret the extra money I paid for. read more

Went in to renew the registration on a van used for a business. Up front i stated that it was for a business and had to be done today. The van was inop for several years so the State suspended the registration even though we kept insurance on it. We had proof that the van had insurance the entire time faxed over. The attendant took another customer in front of me even though the proof was faxed over immediately. After waiting 30min they called me up again but it was to late to unsuspend the registration as the state office closed. Whats the point of going to the MVD Express if you still need the state office. SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY AND JUST GO TO THE STATE OFFICE. It was a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. The employees are smug and acted like it was my fault they took a customer in front of me. I'll never go back and telling my friends and family to do the same. read more

I went to MVD Express on Lohman in Las Cruces. They treated me horrible. I recently moved to this state and think most people here are wonderful and kind, but not at MVD Express. I waited a long time for my turn, but there is no set line, only pieces of paper to sign up on and no sign to tell you your number or how much longer it will be. I stepped outside for no more than a minute for an important phone call. I returned and waited again. After a while, I noticed everyone in the place who was being helped had come in after me. I inquired about it and was told I had missed my turn. I asked if they could help me next, since I had been there longer than anyone else and had signed up before anyone else. They said no, I would have to sign in again and wait behind everyone who arrived there after me. They were not at all understanding about it and treated me worse than I have ever been treated at the regular DMV, even though their signs lie and claim they treat customers with courtesy and a smile. This is not true at all. On top of that, I had to wait two months and work with the credit union where I used to live to have the title transfered, even though I have paid MVD Express fifty dollars so far for convenience fees to do this. They did nothing and informed me of nothing. I took care of making the transfer myself when MVD Express would not do their job and transfer it. They will not repay me for the service I paid for that they did not provide. And now, they are telling me they will not release my title and that if I go somewhere else, they will charge me to have my title returned to my home of record, and I will have to pay to have the entire process start over again. They are also charging me an extra $35 for a "VIN inspection", which consists of taking a second to walk to my car and look at the VIN number. MVD Express is nothing but a scam and full of employees who are very unfriendly and not helpful in any way. Not only are they not courteous, but they won't even do the job you are paying them extra to do. Do yourself a favor and go to the normal DMV. Don't get ripped off by going to MVD Express. read more
