This can't be true, but it was! I was planning on sitting and idling for hours and even days for this inspection. I figured I come here and just yelp my life away, but that didn't happen at all. I feel jipped, I want my money back!!! Oh wait, this inspection is free. Things have drastically changed for the better with MVC and their inspection centers. The lady who helped me was done before I could blink an eye. Being that this is my first time here, it seemed dead. I arrived just after 8:30am on Tuesday. No lines at all. I took a ticket at the entrance, waited in like for about 2 to 3 minutes, then drove into my lane. I handed the inspector my registration, license, and insurance card, then stepped out of the car to wait in the designated area. About 7 minutes later, my car was inspected, the new sticker was applied, and I was good to go. I had been here during COVID and the wait back then was insane, but clearly that is no longer the case. read more

MVC Salvage Inspection Secaucus (Before Westfield). There's no turnaround time, no quality of service provided, no transparency whatsoever, no courtesy, no respect for the citizens or the taxes you paid for the service (Salvage Inspection Request). My first e-mail with the request was over 40 days back and I'm still waiting even for a reply acknowledging my documents were received. To compound the puzzle, it's nearly impossible to get someone on the phone. After several days of trying to reach out at different times of the day, I had no other choice than to reach out to other MVC Salvage inspection centers and they said they couldn't pick up my case because the original request was to Secaucus. After I found this station years ago . I only go here they are simply the best .I used to goto newsrk years ago and I've been to jersey city a few times and they were ok but longer wait .A few time I'd make an appointment at Montclair but they closed down . The queue was a little long because we went on a Saturday around 10:30. Took us about an hour to get to the front but once we reached the front of the line, it was a very quick experience. Unlike other NJ MVc experiences I have had, the staff was friendly and very quick. They also seemed to be cheerful. They only needed out Vehicle Registration since it was a new car. Advice, if you have a new car, you can probably go to the manager office directly and be in and out in a few minutes. Not sure though since we went through the whole line. read more

Only reason I didn't give 5stars, is because I waiting on the line for inspection, when I didn't need too. Since I have a newer car, I ended up right at the office, which had no line and the lady gave me my sticker in 5 mins. This was around 1pm in the afternoon, so not bad at all. Was super easy to find, just don't waste your time in the line if your car is new. And your inspection sticker is good for 5 years, yah! read more

Great service. They came outside to help me because they do not want anyone in the office with COVID-19. This was especially nice because I was there with my 2 children. They will review your registration and give you the new inspection sticker in a few minutes. ***** If the DMV gives you a green/yellow card which says go to managers office make sure you bypass the line of cars and follow the signs for the office. The best experience I've had with any NJ MVC. I got here around 7:50AM on a Tuesday - they open at 8AM. I probably had 15 - 20 cars in front of me at that time. I was there for 20 minutes total, I even made it to work on time afterwards. The guy who helped me was super friendly, said he'd get me out of there quick, and did just that. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fast, free inspection. My recommendation is to come in the middle of the month as it's slightly less busy then according to the employee who helped me. Most people go at the beginning or end of the month. That being said, I went on literally the 1st of the month and still was through quickly. read more

This is the place to be for a vehicle inspection. Came here on a Wednesday early afternoon (or was it Tuesday). I was expecting to see a long line of cars, you know, the lunch crowd. NOPE. It was a like a drive through heaven. I pulled up, grabbed a ticket, and still no cars in front of me. I pull up to the inspection area and there are 3 cars in front of me AND THE LINE IS MOVING! Oh yeah a big grin appears on my face and im thinking to myself, "winning!" Once in the inspection area the staff isn't the most friendliest, but not rude either. They're just stoic at best or maybe they're not into humor. I did try to crack a joke but the staff wen't robotic on me. It's all good. She wasn't rude, she just kept it moving, gave me instructions in a commanding voice and I complied. In a few minutes my car was ready and I went on my way. As an observation, there are multiple stations and on a busy day I would imagine that the lines would move fairly quickly. It wasn't as if there is only one station. But again I did not come here on a busy day....i cannot speak on that but it seems like a place where the traffic flows in and out quickly. My assumption and that's why id be a repeat customer here. TIP: If your car is less than 5 years old and you get a green/yellow card, DO NOT wait in the long car line, simply go through the gate, go all the way to the right, bypass the facility, and pull into the parking lot where the office is, and go into the office. They give you your inspection sticker in like 1 minute, and you are out of there. This applies if you are an out of stater coming into NJ and registering your car with a car less than 5 years old. Don't wait in the long line simply to get to the front and be told by the guy to go to the office, like a putz, like me. The line is pretty much always long, but it moves fast, and if you know you are going to fail, you get another grace period temporary pass, so just go. read more

Aug 18, 2020 I arrived (with a good book) at 6:30 a.m. I was 10th in line. Although other reviews said the station opened earlier than the posted time, today they opened at exactly 8:00. (By that time the line was out of the facility and all the way down Secaucus Road). The staff was professional, courteous, and efficient. I was finished and on my way home by 8:15. No complaints whatsoever. Even in these stressful and uncertain times, I can not praise the staff highly enough. read more

Pulled up to the office and was kindly greeted by two men with great personalities. One of the two assisted me with my inspection sticker, this was all done within less than five minutes. Personality means a lot, having been to many other rudely staffed DMV employees for simple tasks. I will be recommending this location to my peers. read more

I arrived at 3:15pm, on a Friday, my first time getting my car inspected. They were super quick and the lady who took care of me was kind and easy going. The whole process took me only 10 minutes! I must say the webcam that they have on the website makes a huge difference on figuring out wait times. The NJ MVC has really gone a long way in past few years. Their efficiency and service are both much improved. Gone are the days of crazy long lines and surly disgruntled workers who hate their jobs and especially hate their customers. When I pulled in to get my car inspected, you take a number which tells when you entered the queue, probably so that they can monitor their own wait times. There were only about 5 cars in front of me. The line moves fairly quickly, as I believe they have considerably cut down on the number of items that they need to inspect for. I took off a star because the surliness of the person inspecting my car was annoying. How hard is it to smile, say good morning, or even acknowledge when someone is speaking to you? If you hate your job and your life so much, find something else! Your life would be so much more pleasant if you just smiled and tried to be happy. And ending with a "have a nice day" couldn't hurt. read more

This inspection station is the Best! There customer service is top notch and inspection service is extremely fast - *** if you go at the right time folks. Therefore lemme repeat this, timing is everything. Don't wait last minute to get your inspections completed. I came at the right time, 2:30 pm on. Thursday when it was raining. Nj makes you get inspection stickers. I technically live in Nevada, but I have a company car registered in NJ. This was my first time ever doing this. Had no idea what to expect. I just pulled up hit a button for a ticket Drove up, the gentlemen were fast and friendly. It was even free! I couldn't believe it. Nj charges you for everything. I hate it here! Can't wait to get back home. Where things are free or dirt cheap. Nice experience Don't hold off I was pulled over by a police officer who pointed it out that it was expired. After getting my NJ license and vehicle registration the next step would be for the car to pass emission testing. Coming from NY and also Georgia in the past I was no stranger to emission testing. However I was surprised that NJ operated state ran test facilities and that they're free unlike NY where they're all private ran businesses. Luckily this location was only about 15 min drive away so on a Saturday morning decided to get it over with and get my stickers. I arrived about 8:20AM and already were at least 4-5 cars in front of me. However they do have multiple stations separated out by vehicle years once they direct you into the stations. Being that I drive a pretty old crappy car my designated line had only another person in front of me :D The process was very quick and efficient I was in and out of the place with a new sticker in about 15 min. The guys running the test were pretty friendly and nice enough to remove my old stickers with the tool that I was trying so hard to peel with my hands. Lastly, they need to see proof of insurance as well as registration and your license of course. So don't forget the paper work and I think you'll have a quick time too if you can come in early. read more

I went in on 12/2/2020 for inspection around 11am and was in and out in under 5 minutes. My sticker was from last July but due to Covid extensions, I had until end of December. No line when I got there and the guy doing the inspection was nice and courteous. The other guys there were also cool and pointed me in the right direction towards the waiting area. On Saturdays it's only open from 7-12 and I've heard horror stories about wait times in general for inspections, so I went at 7:30am. Going early has its benefits. The gentleman checking my car was very pleasant. You grab a ticket before pulling up, but no one was in front of me, so I didn't even need one. It's also FREE because it's state run. read more

Had an expired sticker and went over a month late. Procrastination FTW! I watched the DMV webcam for the station to see how the line was. I was in and out in 15 MINUTES. Holy cow. There was no line at 10 AM on a Tuesday. One of the workers called me over to a lane (more like pointed). Handed my license, registration and insurance card. Insurance was expired and he did a great job explaining how I should remedy that on the inspection website. It didn't hold my inspection back. Waited over by the glass area for a bit, 5 minutes later, it was done. My car was sitting there for a bit, as I was unsure if it was complete. One of the workers shouted if that was my car and I got in and drove away. Would be nice if they made it a little more clear your car was done. So pay attention! read more
