The bad thing is you need to wait a long time and almost every chair is occupied. It's very crowded. The ticket numbers are called out randomly and not in order so you don't even know when it is your turn. Luckily there are many TV screens at different angles calling the ticket numbers or else people forget their turn and prevents people from moving their heads. When my number was called, I had to put my ticket number inside the basket next to the window. There was no electronic credit card merchant device outside the window. I had to pay using my credit card. I did not know that they were going to print out the birth certificates and was surprised that they handed me 2 copies. They looked really different than the version I had when I was born. Now they are pink and blue compared to my pink form I originally had.

Pleasantly surprised did it take a chunk of may morning. I had 9 am appointment to find out they…read moretake walk ins. I was finished 10:40 There are several employees that will guide you . They did go out of their way to get me my ever elusive birth certificate. This manhattan so parking umm no Plenty of mass transit and local eateries . I found out FedEx is a 4 min walk to print your proof of address I needed sooo yes I was on a mission and the employees did help me out.

Because I wasn't able to get documents needed here at our San Antonio office, MS. KORNEGAY promised she would have documents to me in 7-11 days!!! It was pertinent ,time sensitive info needed for my mentally disabled son's AJL hearing. She put me on hold over 25 times because she needed time to look up info, kept saying hold on when I tried to ask something or give her specific info needed. She sounded incompetent or New. How hard is it to look up the following: Copies of notices sent to my son of overpayments, notices to appeal, that they say were denied, refusal for him to file the SSA-362 for hardship, inability to pay, bank name the overpayments went to, Copy of bank they say they garnished $25,000 and now saying he owes $51,000. Just got notice they are garnishing his disability pay in May in the amount of $890 for the next 5 yr, leaving him with just $680 a month to live on. His car was repossessed, he has no assets. He did not get any of the notices from SSA because his roommate had evicted him, withheld his mail and he was living in his car. I was unaware of any of this.He was diagnosed with severe schitsophrenic-Bi-polar disorder in 2008 was diagnosed by a personal pyschiatrist and a SS appointed pyschiatrist!and & is currently 100% worse, on 6 medications. Would ANY one of you employees who have children, family members you would want to be treated in this manner? THE SS SYSTEM does not care, I am 74 ,I've been to our local office 8 times since 2024, waiting hours when the PA system isnt working or screens with the nbr not working & it sickens me that my beloved 48 yr old son is like a zombie. I've already buried one son at age 33. As for MS. KORNEGAY, this review is for YOUR NEGLIGENCE ,lack of compassion, making promises, & commitments and not following through and you definitely should be fired from the SS TELESERVICE CENTER @ P.O. BOX 5800 Jamacia,NY I had every intention of writing a positive review and contact Ms. DANIELLE WILSON if you followed through with your promise of help. Sleep well KORNEGAY SS ,we are HUMANS, SUFFERRING, but not being heard or shown compassion. being treated like a nbr on your screen, next!!

I know most people don't have the best experience here, so I definitely felt lucky that mine was smooth and pleasant. That said, the overall vibe is very court-like. You go through security, take the elevator, then walk down a long hallway into a waiting room. From there, another hallway branches off into a bunch of small separate rooms--it's kind of creepy, not gonna lie lol.

Sure, any given…read moresubway car or city block will inevitably be pretty diverse in NYC, but EVERYONE has to show up for jury duty, and everyone has to endure the shockingly inefficient security line. You get the bankers that are rich enough to have a driver take them to work, so they never have to go underground with us peasants. You get the filthy hoarders that haven't left their apartment in half a decade because they can get literally everything delivered to them. And you get all the people in between who are at once terrified they'll be selected for a trial, and also kind of intrigued by the process and secretly hoping to find out what their employer will do if they have to be out for three weeks. We all have to do our civic duty. But other than the interminable security line, and the muffled microphone** they use half the time, this is a fairly painless experience. There's plenty of seating, wi-fi, and...actually, that's pretty much all I need. If my jackass colleagues*** also had jury duty, this would've been indistinguishable from a day in my office. Perhaps it's also that I have great luck when it comes to jury duty. I've never had to stay longer than one day, and I've never even been chosen as a potential juror, let alone put on a trial. For once, having a face no one wants to look at pays off. I hope you are as ugly as I am, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. ____________ *Please don't actually forget education. It's pretty important. **I'm a native English speaker and I have trouble understanding what's happening. I worry for others. ***I'm just seeing if they actually read my reviews. Jackasses.

I had to set them up when I wanted to view my Federal Income Tax documents online. It was a hassle and it required facial recognition. I'm dreading the change but I know I can go back to this office if I need help! I'm not going to recommend either way. If you can handle anything online avoid going to any Social Security office.
