On our way to New York, we were looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights and ended up…read morechoosing Embassy Suites near Newark Airport. Having stayed at Embassy Suites several times before, the overall experience--rooms, breakfast, and amenities--was as expected: solid and reliable. What really stood out during this stay, however, was the service. Alejandro and Grant were both excellent--friendly, attentive, and genuinely service-minded. Alejandro in particular went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible, which made a real difference. The hotel itself is still in good shape, with well-maintained interiors and comfortable room furnishings. The location is also a big advantage. While it's close to the airport, there's also a large outlet mall nearby, along with an arcade, bowling alley, and several dining options--great for both adults and kids. One of the biggest benefits compared to staying in Manhattan is avoiding the hassle of traffic and expensive parking. From the hotel, it's about a 20-25 minute drive to the Holland Tunnel, making access to the city surprisingly easy. A nice bonus was the evening reception--snacks and drinks served by a very kind and attentive bartender and staff, which added to the overall positive experience. The only downside during our stay was that the pool was closed, which was a bit disappointing as it would have helped burn off some of the kids' energy. That said, it's a minor drawback compared to everything else the hotel offers. Overall, a very convenient and comfortable stay with excellent service. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Rooms were good sized and clean. Bathroom was huge but toilet was very short, seemed odd. The hotel has a nice sized bar that provides complimentary happy hour snacks and beverages. Upon checkin to the hotel, the staff will give you "drink tickets". Breakfast was also included but we left too early the next day so we couldn't partake. It's a good hotel for an overnighter. The hotel is also across the street from a large outlet shopping center.

Before I begin I would like to say that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences…read moreand my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's begin!. My wife and I reserved a room at this establishment before our flight to NJ. We arrived here and were disappointed at what we experienced when we walked in. I didn't take any pictures because I was in a dire situation with a family member going through some tough times! But I will say we booked a room with a king sized bed and realized when we were getting ready for bed we were laying in a queen size bed, not a room with two full size beds but a queen size. When was the last time you seen a queen size bed in a major well known hotel establishment? I can't remember the last time I seen one, can you?...Major let down by my standards! There were two microwaves in the room, a range one over the stove and one on the counter in the kitchen area. I thought that was strange but when I tried to use the range oven over the stove it didn't work! So I see why the two microwave because one wasn't working! The sink in the bedroom next to the bathroom had a broken stopper in it! The room was dated and in dire need of an upgrade. The entire hotel needs to be renovated in my opinion, and the fact I was charged almost $200 a night for what I received. It's unspoken to charge that amount with outdated structures!!!.. I'll give two stars because the customer service at the front desk was exceptional and kind and helpful when I had questions about this establishment!. I would not recommend or return until renovation is completed and up to date with modern structure!!!..

Room was ready at arrival, which was at 10 pm. Check in quick and easy. Room was queen bed with sofa. Place is a bit worn. Kitchen had cabinet doors that did not close well, light in exhaust over 2 burner stove was out. Sectional sofa a little beaten up and desk chair was stained. Bed was nice though. Bathroom typical though tub floor was stained. Breakfast on a Saturday at 815 was poor. Almost everything empty, at peak hour on a Saturday. At least they had coffee. Checkout good till noon and shuttle to airport was fine. For an emergency the residence inn Elizabeth was fine.

We had to extend our stay twice due to the snow storm, and the staff has been very kind and accommodating--many were stuck here with us and still maintained exceptionally good service. We enjoyed hummus, French onion soup, pear quinoa salad, pork chop entree, steakhouse burger, cacio e Pepe pasta, and a slice of NY cheesecake over the past several days. I got the best sleep ever in these beds with the mattresses, pillows, and comforters. Two waters and nice strong coffee was included in my room as well as Crabtree and Evelyn large toiletries. Housekeeping managed to keep up and did great. My only complaint was that I couldn't find a working ice machine. Easy in and out literally and related to being close to the highway. Minimal road noise. I slept great! Thank you Hilton Newark Airport; you went above and beyond.

Everything felt modern and well-maintained. Kids had a great time running around and watching TV Free breakfast at the hotel was a hit. My son loves scrambled eggs and breakfast sausage so he piled up on it. They had a nice selection and a lot of fruits as well. I also enjoyed using the fitness center. They had a good selection of barbells, dumbbells, and machines. We got a good workout every day The parking situation was a bit weird. They have a small parking lot in front of the hotel but if it's full, you need to use the parking garage next door and can only do the second or 3rd floor. it's not too far off but would be a pain to carry all your suitcases up and down those stairs. Try and find a space up front! Overall, this is a great choice for the area if you want something clean, comfortable, and convenient. Recommended!

The lobby is beautiful--clean, modern, and exactly what you see in the photos. That's actually what led me to book the hotel. However, the rooms are a completely different story. When we checked in, I specifically asked if there were more updated rooms, since I assumed the hotel might have renovated sections. The front desk staff member was very kind and helpful, but the first room we were given was in really poor condition--chipped paint everywhere, a bad smell in the bathroom, and visible mold in the vent. It felt neglected and far from clean. We asked to switch rooms and were told the only options were the 10th floor or the 1st floor. Since the 10th floor looked just as worn down, we chose the 1st floor. The staff member did warn us it might be noisy due to the pool and said the pool closed at 8 PM, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, the noise was not from the pool. There was constant yelling, screaming, and doors slamming throughout the night. It felt chaotic and made it very difficult to relax or sleep. The second room was still in rough shape--more chipped paint, run-down finishes, and the towels were dry and rough. At times, the room even smelled like cigarette smoke, likely coming from a nearby room, which was really unpleasant. I do want to note that every staff member we interacted with was extremely kind and professional. This is clearly not a reflection of them--they were doing their best. The issue is the condition of the property itself. Overall, this hotel feels more like a rundown motel with a very nice lobby. I would not recommend staying here unless you are okay with outdated, poorly maintained rooms.

Do NOT use Global Airport Parking at Newark in the Double Tree lot!…read moreYour "self park" spot is not guaranteed. The Hotel had many events and there was no spots! Apparently Global does NOT let Double Tree know if it has paid customers coming. I had to leave my car triple parked with the keys inside so I wouldn't miss my flight. All week I was worried that my car might not even be there when I got back. I also made the reservation for 4AM instead of 4PM but the Global Rep said he'd fix it and refund the difference. He accidentally charged me instead of refunding the difference and no one at Global could understand how to refund the original charge and then the accidental 2nd charge. The last email said they'd "give it to me" for good customer relations!!!! It's owed me...I'm not ripping you off! I 'm not asking for a freebie!! Still waiting to see if anyone figured it out! I see one refund on my credit card. Not holding my breath waiting for the 2nd one. Stay clear! PS...my tire was flat when I returned. Double Tree's insurance company emailed me within 2 days! Now ...that's good customer service.
