It is not large but it packs a punch of multiple slides, climbing structures and brand new soft padding to absorb any falls. The playground doesn't have much shade so prepare for that on sunny hot days. Only thing noticeable missing are swings but the kiddos will get over it as there is so much to explore!

There is even a small duck pond located in the park. Most of the facilities are in excellent condition except for the basketball court that has lots of long cracks in the surface from the ice and snow. Definitely time for some repaving. The fields are used by several different leagues but are open to anyone when not in use. In fact everything in the park is open to anyone except for the swimming areas which can only be used by town residents. The park gets very crowded in the summer, especially on weekends, and picnics and parties are very common here. The park can be loud and pretty chaotic with lots of kids running around and people playing various games but is always friendly and pleasant. A nice park that offers a whole lot of different things to do.

A small picnic area with a couple of tables is located near the parking lot; the lot was spacious. It is open from 8am-8pm from April to November 15. There were signs mentioning that this park is home of Avon Little League Boys' Baseball and Girls' Softball. There are batting cages and a snack shack. We went when there wasn't a game going on and it was quiet. I'm sure it gets packed during games. Also, the Farmington Canal Greenway is right next to the park. Overall, a nicely maintained park; there were some potholes on the parking lot so be aware of that when driving.

Today, we saw just one car parked up there and pretty much nobody in the park, except for a few walkers on the Greenway Rails to Trails path behind the park. But had our visit been on a June afternoon, Sperry Park would have been crammed with cars and people. The Snack Bar would have been busy, the baseball diamonds and batting cages would have been populated, and their three baseball fields would have been ringed by cheering fans. All that because Sperry Park, isn't a Park in the sense of a conventional park, its the home of the Avon Little League and spread across it's 9.4 acres are a Major Field (Field #1), an Intermediate Field (Field #2), a Batting cage complex (Field #3), and a T-ball Field (Field #4). We enjoyed strolling around the complex and exploring the Rails to Trails portion that borders the park.
