Aside from the large playground, there is a sports field, picnic spot, pool, and ball courts. There is a skate park and a paved 1 mile loop walking trail. It is stroller friendly which is a plus. They also host the hot air balloon event in August. The residents and visitors are lucky to have this recreational area. There were plenty of parking; it was a busy day when we went. We enjoyed the playground; there was shade and picnic tables throughout. It even has a zipline/swing type playscape, which I've never seen before elsewhere. Overall, it's definitely a nice park!

The parking lot was large. Everything looked nicely maintained there. The library is small but has everything you would need in a library. On this visit, we played at the playground. The playground had a few swings, a couple of slides, playscape, a climbing playscape, and a ball pit. There were a couple of benches. Overall, a great spot to hang out! Everything is in close proximity and it's a great spot to get some fresh air and exercise.

"Down by the old mill stream Where I first met you"…read more(The Mills Brothers) Mills Pond Park is an embarrassment of riches, both natural and man-made. There's a trail that takes you down to a pretty pond, waterfall, and wetlands. There's a recreational bonanza of options, with an Olympic sized pool, tennis courts, two baseball fields, basketball courts, a football field, a park, a softball field, a skate park, two pavilions, a soccer field, wading pool, and playgrounds. There's even a large public art display at the park's entrance which I've reviewed separately. https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-canton-gate-canton?hrid=_woQOmg74ws2Myhd1Zb0mA&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) One thing ruined our perfect visitor experience. As we were walking around the ballfields, we saw a guy in a gray hoodie and gray pants with his black lab running around freely. They were hundreds of feet apart and he was yelling at the dog to come over. But the dog didn't because he or she was busy squatting and taking a dump on the ballfield where kids play. Did Mr. gray hoodie clean up after Fido? Nope, he just ignored that steaming pile of dog doo, leashed up his dog when it finally sprinted over, and calmly walked away along East Hill Road. The selfish, careless, inconsiderate arrogance was incredible to witness. So, if you're playing out there on the fields, watch where you step.

There's no trail, just a small paved portion behind the skatepark. I saw plenty of people walking around the park and around the field. My kids really enjoyed playing in the playground. There's a double swing you can put your small child in and you can sit on the swing as well; that was a first for me. A gem and I'm lucky to live close by and be able to use this establishment.

It is not large but it packs a punch of multiple slides, climbing structures and brand new soft padding to absorb any falls. There is even a small duck pond located in the park. Most of the facilities are in excellent condition except for the basketball court that has lots of long cracks in the surface from the ice and snow. Definitely time for some repaving. The fields are used by several different leagues but are open to anyone when not in use. In fact everything in the park is open to anyone except for the swimming areas which can only be used by town residents. The park gets very crowded in the summer, especially on weekends, and picnics and parties are very common here. The park can be loud and pretty chaotic with lots of kids running around and people playing various games but is always friendly and pleasant. A nice park that offers a whole lot of different things to do.

The park is split up into three sections, West Park, Center Park, and East Park. It is surrounded by restaurants, shops, religious buildings, historic homes etc. There are benches, Cival War cannon, memorials for the Cival War, World Wars, Korean, and Vietnamese wars. There were plenty of street parking throughout the area. The area was bustling with traffic and people. Overall, from first impressions, Litchfield gave me that charming New England town feel; their town green was also just as lovely.

The Green has summer concerts, bring your own chair, and an annual craft fair. Parking is most okay, but when there's an event or summer weekend it's packed. There is a parking lot behind the storefronts, and now that the pandemic is over there are separate roads to enter and exit. (The pandemic saw the exit sacrifice for outdoor dinning, and getting out became a very careful drive) Cops do like to sit on the Green for stopping and cell phone citations, and will judge the drivers on whether they look like they belong. They do give that game away when they ask how long you've lived in a lower income city, and not only have you never lived there, they're literally reading your license with a completely different address. That's not really the fault of the Green itself though.

The trail starts from the parking lot into an open field, and then into the woods through a stone wall. It is very obvious where to walk, although as of April 2023 parts are very muddy.
