From the moment we walked in, the staff was beyond friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was vibrant, lively, and fun. I ordered the sangria, which was honestly the best I had in Madrid, while my mom enjoyed a lovely glass of wine. We started with the padrón peppers, burrata with tomato salsa, and patatas bravas -- every single dish was packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. For the main course, we had the beef with chimichurri and butter, and OMG... it was phenomenal. Everything was cooked perfectly, and all the flavors complemented each other so well. To finish the night, we shared the chocolate dessert and the "Love Chueca" cocktail, which was incredible and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Couldn't recommend this restaurant enough. Amazing food, fantastic drinks, wonderful staff, and such a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Madrid!

As foreigners, we arrived earlier than the locals which worked out well. By the time we finished there was a crowd waiting outside. We loved the casual atmosphere and the elevated flavors of the tapas. The wine was perfect and we chose just the right amount of dishes that complimented one another. We felt like this was someplace special and were happy to have experience it.

The quality of the food has remained consistent for the 10 years I've been visiting! Tucked away just off Sol, Malaespina is the epitome of a classic Madrid taverna. The inviting, unpretentious atmosphere, the cozy charm, the prices, the energy -- it's hard to capture it all in words. There's a certain magic at Malaespina. The tavern has been around for hundreds of years, and I often wonder what it was like a century ago. I'm always amazed that such a gem exists in the heart of Madrid, a city center filled with tourist traps. Malaespina draws both locals and tourists -- and for good reason. The food quality to price ratio is unbeatable. On our most recent visit, we had huevos estrellados, tortilla tapas, sangria, and espressos, and spent about $20 for the two of us. You really can't beat that! Here's hoping they stick around for many more years to come.

When we first sat down they gave us a welcome bruschetta and bread for free which were pretty decent portions. We then ordered our food and it was pretty good as well. We ordered their half chicken (pollo asado con patatas), sirloin steak, and Malaspina tosta. The portions were huge and we definitely over ordered. We thought they were more the size of tapas but each dish was a huge portion itself which definitely isn't a bad thing. The food tasted pretty good but I think it just lacked flavor occasionally. All the meat was cooked well and was very juicy, just could use a little more flavor. Otherwise everything was good. Solid 4 stars

Not too cartoonish, just the proper decor to make you feel in the Spanish traditional mood. We started with the Steak Tartar de Bellota sobre tuétano asado a la brasa, a bold yet well-balanced dish. The beef was fresh, finely cut, and seasoned with precision, allowing the quality of the meat to shine. The roasted bone marrow added depth and richness without overwhelming the tartare, and the toasted bread on the side brought crunch to each bite. One of the highlights and favorites was the Arroz meloso de la huerta, cooked with coconut milk. Creamy and aromatic, the rice had a smooth, comforting texture with a subtle coconut note that added more flavor rather than sweetness. The vegetables brought freshness and balance, making it easy to see why this is a favorite of the head chef, especially when paired with a glass of ICENI, Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz, which sparks aromatic notes to this recipe. Another standout was the Puntillitas de Isla Cristina con Parmentier de Trufa y Huevo Frito. An Andalucian authentic dish. The puntillitas were crispy and perfectly cooked. The truffled parmentier added richness, while the fried egg blends everything. To accompany the meal, the marinated olives were a simple nice add-on. Service is well delivered. Overall, Triana delivers a confident and reliable dining experience. A traditional not too pretentious spot to bring friends coming from abroad with no unnecessary theatrics. Well-executed dishes, quality ingredients, and a traditional neighborhood atmosphere that you can go back to if you are in the area.

Therefore, when I give a Spanish restaurant five stars you know it has to be good. However, not just good in flavor but innovative as well. Let's start with the restaurant. For a restaurant in the city it is quite roomy. Many tables litter the dinning area. Also, they have what looks to be a seating area upstairs (I'm not entirely sure since I didn't venture up). The entire place has a rustic, secluded feel that transports you far from Madrid into a warm, relaxing environment. The wait staff is helpful and friendly. We were served by three gorgeous and sweet ladies who ensured own meal and experience was top notch. The food was portioned right and delicious. We enjoyed wine, vermouth, beer, carne, ox tail, fried eggplant and potatoes, and finished it all with a shot of sweet liqueur. The food was created with spice and flavor, which made the meal fantastic. Overall, this was an amazing restaurant coupled with an amazing experience. I will definitely return. Enjoy!
