Had a birthday brunch for sis in law. Everyone loved it! Food was great, service was spot on. We got the booth in the back right corner of the patio, very comfortable and great ambiance.

Would've got several more stars if not for pitifully slow service. It wasn't even remotely busy when we went, so makes no sense. Seat yourself, but full service thereafter. I ended up walking up to the bar and placing my own order after twiddling my thumbs for 15 minutes with nobody coming by after initially dropping off menus at our table. Indoor and outdoor seating (mostly covered). Super casual atmosphere. Food was good and decently sized portions. They were out of the noodles for mac, though, which was enough to make my picky toddler reject the penne replacement. Be sure to download the Irvine Co app, and you can get free kids meals with the purchase of adult entrees Sun-Th as of July 2025. Southern hula pizza was unique and delicious. BBQ burger was also good.

First time at Mutts and won't be the last! We chose this restaurant, since it was pup friendly. Our server Olivia was great, she was patient while we were looking over the menu, and asked if we wanted to order a puppy patty (medium rare beef patty) for our Kiki. We each ordered something different and it was all tasty. The garlic parm fries were well seasoned, everyone's order came out fairly quickly. The covered patio seating was nice. We'll be back again, next time we're in the area.

We've been here several times for dinner and it's always a great experience. Service is friendly and attentive. The food is consistently delicious. It's very family and dog friendly. Highly recommend!

A fun little pet friendly bar/restaurant! Our server was very attentive to us! We shared the Caesar salad with blackened chicken, which was amazing! we also got a Joe Dirt pizza, which was pretty good, a tad bit salty! We enjoyed watching the Lakers game and having some good food and drinks! Their cheesecake however was not good.

    Not rosemary fries, boo

We love Mutts and have been coming here for a while since we live by the Back Bay. But this last visit? A little... sus. We ordered rosemary fries, paid extra for them, and were excited to dig in--only to find that they had exactly zero rosemary. Just plain ol' salted fries, dressed up in lies. When we asked the waitress about it, she confidently told us, "It's in the potato." ...Ma'am. What does that even mean? Is the potato spiritually infused with rosemary? Was it near some rosemary at some point in its life? Because it sure wasn't on the fries. Oh, and the entire place smelled like detergent. Like, aggressively so. Are y'all power-washing the walls between orders? We love the food and the location, but come on, Mutts--season the fries and maybe dial back the industrial cleaning vibes. We believe in you!

The outside bar with our server, Madeline!

Great ambiance, service, and cleanly environment. Our server was the absolute best and the sweetest, Madeline. We came a little late but she still welcomed us with a smile. The food is amazing, great portions, and worth the buck. They also do Trivia nights on Tuesdays which is always a crowd pleaser.

Mutts Newport Beach - Where the Fries Play Hide and Seek with Flavor Walking into Mutts, the first thing that hits you isn't the welcoming aroma of delicious food--it's the wall of industrial-strength cleaning detergent. You know the one. That "we just power-washed the crime scene" kind of scent. But hey, maybe that's just their way of making sure you know they take cleanliness very seriously. On to the food. We ordered the rosemary and thyme fries--fancy name, fancy price, zero actual rosemary or thyme flavor. When we politely inquired where the advertised herbs were hiding, our waitress confidently assured us, "It's inside." Inside what? The fryer? The chef's imagination? Did the potato just briefly brush up against a sprig of rosemary before being hurled into the oil? We may never know. The soups, however, were surprisingly solid--warm, comforting, and actually tasted like what they were supposed to be. So, if you're in the mood for soup and the smell of an overzealous janitor's handiwork, Mutts is your spot. But if you're craving rosemary and thyme fries that actually taste like rosemary and thyme? Better luck elsewhere.

It was a touch oily on the outside, which made it a bit messy to eat, but that richness definitely added to the flavor. The Queen Bee had a perfect balance: creamy ricotta, sweet honey, and fresh green pear all working together effortlessly. The pine nuts were a great finishing touch, tying everything together with a subtle nuttiness. It's easy to see why the Chicken Pesto is a crowd favorite. If you're into pesto, arugula, and sun-dried tomatoes, this one hits all the right notes--especially on that toasted basil focaccia. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Only downside is the tough parking situation, but honestly, it's a deli I'd still go out of my way for.

Portion size? It's a BIG sandwich. I think I was expecting the sandwich to be more reminiscent of the type of focaccia sandwiches I had in Italy, but in truth it was just "heavy". The focaccia bread was not light and fluffy, but more dense and oily. I think these sandwiches would cater to many people here as showcased in the other reviews, but just wasn't for me. Glad to have given it a try though! Service was kind and friendly!

Parking lot is small with the post office and a handful of other businesses all sharing the same few spaces. So be prepared to circle the lot or park on the street and walk when you visit. I ordered a 9 inch ham with provolone, had lettuce, tomato, sprouts, mustard and mayo on the fresh baguette. Solid sandwich it had enough meat and cheese to satisfy me which was a little surprising. The baguette was light and tasty, the veggies were fresh and crisp. Overall the sandwich was a solid 9 out of 10, and I am something of a sandwich snob. Tables and chairs outside in the area between the buildings were convenient seating to eat our sandwiches. Service was fast & friendly throughout the visit. I ordered the chicken curry salad & was a little underwhelmed. The flavor itself was good, but it could have used more dressing and definitely more chicken. The Thai tea was really tasty though. Overall, still interested in coming back to try the sandwiches and baked goods since those looked especially promising.
