Their sauces are amazing, and I love the Brunswick Stew and sweet potatoes. It is sometimes crowded on the weekends but we were told by management that they are building another room which will have space for about 85 more people. First would like to say that the staff have always been pleasant, nice, helpful and do a great job! Been going here for years and the food is still great. Ribs are some of the best around here. I love the sweet sauce and could almost drink it straight it's that good. The rib meat is fall off the bone good. Fried chicken like grandma made. Cole slaw is pretty good maybe one step below grandmas. For the most part everything is just really good. Never seen a place so busy as Mutts on the 4th of July. And now I get it. The mustard BBQ sauce was nice and mustardy, and that's how I like a good mustard based sauce. Very tasty. I've tried mac 'n cheese quite a few places but Mutts is the best. Surprisingly too the potato salad was awesome. So they've nailed two of my favorite sides. Regarding the BBQ, delicious. Straight laced fate made perfect with that robust mustard sauce. Even my two yr old liked it! A lot! We called in a meal for 4-6, could've fed 8-9 since my kids have attention spans of gnats, and small stomachs. Great meal with some left over. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of how hot the restaurant was. It had to be between 80-85 degrees, no exaggeration. We were visiting from out of town with friends who just moved to the area on a Friday evening. There was a good crowd but surprisingly, not congested or long wait lines for the buffet. They were very prepared for Covid protocol and making sure individuals wore gloves while handling the serving utensils at the buffet line. The tables and areas around seemed to be kept sanitized and clean of debris. Their cashiers weren't overly friendly but by the looks of it, they seemed to be very young. So I chalked it up as just being inexperienced. They were not rude but could have been a little more pleasant. Wait staff did a great job coming by our table to check on us, taking away our empty plates, and replenishing with new ones so that those who wanted to make a 2nd or 3rd trip could do so without having to wait too long. I wouldn't recommend for very large groups only because of space limitations. And by large, probably not a party of 12 or more unless you're prepared to wait and have patience. No negative experience but from reading a couple of other reviews about groups, I'm not sure why anyone would want to bring a rather large group to this establishment without expecting to wait or to have to sit outside. Mutts BBQ catered the food for my sister's wedding reception, and it was very good. It was a formal reception. I don't think it could have been any better. They were very professional and courteous. The roasted chicken was very flavourful, moist, and juicy! Everything was exceptional, but the chicken is the most memorable, especially after having eaten a lot of dry and bland poultry. I have always enjoyed all the Mutts locations. We have had family events at a couple of locations, and I have used their catering services. No issues until today. I wished I had read the comments about the manager at the Greer location before today. His name is John and from my conversation with him, he is right and customers are always wrong. I've read today how others have experienced his rude demeanor and very unprofessional attitude. I was stunned at how he acted and the things he said. I can only imagine how he treats the staff there if he will talk to a customer that way. No wonder there is such staff turn over and most of the staff look miserable, it's because they have to deal with a tyrant for a supervisor. Hopefully you won't have to deal with John if you eat there. But if you do, be prepared to be talked down to, yelled at, and deal with his sarcastic remarks. Went during a buffet night (I believe they offer this everyday now) but opted out of that option and ordered the pulled pork and ribs plate with hash/rice and green beans sides. First the sides, hash/rice was soggy and quite bland, the green beans seemed like canned beans no seasoning. The ribs were cooked fine but have had better elsewhere. I had the sweet sauce on the side which was okay nothing unique about it. The pulled pork was pretty bad, no seasoning and really soggy...reminded me of cat food. We came to Mutts today for a late lunch and it was very good! The sauce was good (not the best I've ever had though), pulled pork was very tender, and they had a good selection of tasty sides. Service was very friendly too. The only things that I wish they had were corn fritters ( but not everyone has these, in fact most places don't) and they didn't have hash.
