Great cheeseburger. Buffer and salad bar looked good too. The restaurant was busy and service was fast and friendly.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to meet my friends. I was 25 minutes early so I figured I'd have…read moreenough time to grab food, and they said it'd take about 10 minutes to make. I finally decided on the crawfish cheese dip and seafood gumbo, together making a meal. The dip came out after about 5 minutes so I figured another 5 for the gumbo. Then they said it'd be another 5... and I waited... and it took until 12:05 for me to finally get it! That schedule was a bit of an issue, but it was because they were actually cleaning and pulling meat out of the crawfish to insert into my gumbo. So, you know what? I'll take the freshness. On to the food. Granted, I had very minimal food - people were ordering multiple-pound buckets of shelled crawfish with various sides - but here's my take. The cheese dip was a bit salty. Had a decent amount of crawfish in it, probably a bit heavier on the tomatoes and veggies than the seafood, but a decent haul overall. But very salty. The gumbo, on the other hand, was surprisingly not salty enough! I poured the rice in (for some reason was given them separately) and went to town on it, focusing on the Gulf shrimp first, finishing off the rice and roux, then using the bread to soak up the soup and ending with all the crawfish inside. Overall, it was pretty good stuff. Not really exactly the tastes I was looking for, but I value the small, independent, local place with fresh seafood in droves, so I would absolutely never give them less than 4 stars for that. I would just recommend two things:1) better off coming here to sit (with plenty of time) as opposed to trying to get something to go quickly, and 2) bring a bunch of friends so that you can all split one of the large buckets of items and go to town on the crawfish yourself! That probably is 5 stars there every time and I would be willing to try them again with those circumstances.

Highly recommend for boiled crawfish!! Very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Will be returning!read more

Walked in and ordered some dinner to go, was really happy with the decision! Had some of the best…read morefried green tomatoes ever with a sauce that was perfect - not sure how to explain it though. Also had the house gumbo which had seafood, chicken and sausage. It was so good, the flavors complex, the roux thick. Could tell a lot of locals were there because the staff knew everyone but they were really nice to me too.

It's the kind of eatery where the waitresses call you "baby" which is a respected Deep South Tradition. I ordered the 1/2 po boy & 1/2 gumbo lunch with a side dish (I chose baked potato salad) for $14. The food arrived about 10 minutes later. My sandwich was a grilled shrimp po boy on bread that tasted like it was from Gambino's. It was very good taste wise and I enjoyed it. Ditto on the cup of seafood gumbo with shrimp in it and with a good tasting roux too. Finally the baked potato salad was creamy, cool and flavorful. Altogether this was a very good meal. On the front door is a sign saying that they charge an extra 4% for credit card usage. Also, on my check were two prices, one for cash and the other for credit. While I detest restaurants that charge extra for credit card usage, I will give Gumbo Pot credit in that they clearly disclose that fee on the door and on the bill but I still hate it.

Sammy Crawfish King 2 - 3lbs crawfish, 1/2 shrimp, 1 potatoe and 1 corn for $37.99. This was when crawfish cost $10/lb. Maybe cheaper now. Good for seafood fix.

Noticing that the dining…read morechairs were all being put for up for night, we cracked the door open and stood gingerly behind it as we asked if they were still open? "Sure! The dining area is closed but come on in!" Complete newbies to Louisiana food, we asked for suggestions, especially since we had some kids looking skeptically at the buffet options. Talk about "Southern hospitality"!--the ladies behind the counter truly took care of us, giving helpful suggestions and throwing in a few extras because we were visiting the area. And then, even though the dining area was closed, she offered it to us (a family of 7) again because she said, "we want to make sure we take care of people who aren't from around here." Take care of us they did! The food was so delicious it converted three of my five children to Cajun cuisine--quite an impressive feat. (We picked up Chick-fil-A for the other two on our way out of town ) Highly recommend! Great taste for a great value. This was our wonderful welcome to Louisiana!
