She definitely made me more passionate about piano learning. And of course, my skilled improved a lot. I decide to study as possible Eunjin holds DMA degree in piano performance, which most teacher doesn't have. This makes her extremely qualified to teach students at any level. She really knows how to teach effectively. There was a song I had practiced for two months for my wedding but it still sounded wrong to me. I couldn't figured out what's wrong. Then I knew I need a teacher. That's when I started my class with Eunjin. She went through each line with me. Corrected my figuring to make it easier for me to play each key evenly. She taught me which part to use finger and which part to use hand, and how to relax fast between two notes. Those skills are so helpful for me. None of other teachers taught me before. Without her I will never do it.

First, some background: I considered myself an "adult beginner", though I've played around with a guitar since high school. I knew the basic open chords and a few songs from the various "Teach Yourself Guitar" books I'd gone through. I'd often thought about taking lessons, but never quite got around to it. As it turns out, one of my friends had been taking guitar lessons at Half Note Studio for about two years. When I asked her about it, she said she'd learned a lot and recommended I give Jack a call. I arranged a free initial lesson with Jack. I was nervous going into the studio, but Jack was quite friendly and quickly made me feel at ease. We went over what I knew and talked about what I wanted to get out of lessons. In my case, I was looking to learn more music theory and get some "proper" guitar instruction. Six months later, I still look forward to my regular guitar class! I'm developing a better understanding of music theory, improving my ear training, getting better at sight reading and generally developing a deeper appreciation for what I can do with the guitar. Jack's a great instructor and very flexible in terms of tailoring his lessons to the needs of the particular student. If you've ever thought about taking music lessons as an adult, I say give Jack and Half Note Music Studio a try!

If you're SERIOUS about your kids playing an instrument, first purchase and read "Nurtured by Love"…read moreby Shiniki Suzuki, and then give director Hsin Chi-Lui a call. This school that teaches Suzuki method violin, cello, piano, flute, string bass and classical guitar, is the best around. Last year their 300 students performed an amazing concert at Benaroya Hall. But the music lessons here transcend learning to play an instrument. They teach beauty, love, virtue, discipline, happiness. Great teachers.... great families. They like kids to start young -- 4 yrs old if possible, but will take older students.

This review is based on both my children having taken lessons in the Suzuki method for over 10…read moreyears from PNSM. My daughter who is 17 will be graduating this year, and my son who is 14 still takes lessons. Both are taught by the amazing Dr. Charles Atwood. Let me just say this will be the best decision and educational investment you will ever make for your children. Both of my kids started at the age of 4 and this really changed their lives and wired their minds for music for the rest of their lives. When we started this journey, we had no ambitions about our kids being concert violinists, we just wanted them to enjoy music and hopefully have it be an enriching part of their lives. Now I can say unequivocally that this program wired both of our children's brains to be magically musically literate. My daughter has taught herself several instruments including Piano and Ukulele, based on the musical literacy she gained from study here. The self esteem and confidence gained from performing for so many years in front of a large audience has also has immeasurable value for both our kids. My daughter was lucky enough to play at both Benaroya and Carnegie hall before she was 17 as part of groups related to her High School and to PNSM. This is an amazing school and it has always been an investment we never doubted once. We hope by reading this you will be encouraged to support this non-profit and take the magical journey we did with your kids . The school also has a wonderful program to help your kids get great violins at reasonable/fair prices. Finally what many might not know is this is the oldest Suzuki school in the US. It is where Suzuki method started on US soil.

It is a blessing that I heard about Ms.Sharon Kim from a friend. My kids enjoys learning sonatinas,…read moreromantic and modern pieces with her! I really appreciate that her instructions helped my kids with developing ear, sight reading and finger techniques when they were very young, now she is offering many opportunities to perform at competitions and recitals and that motivates my kids to practice more efficiently! As an experienced former piano student, when I see the ways my kids practicing, I find that her lesson is strictly focused on professional classical aspects. It is also very interesting to hear what my kids excitingly describe about how they learned the music they are playing after every lesson. Ms.Kim is definitely an inspiring artist!

I really wanted to like this place and rented from them for years, but my last (and now final)…read moreexperience with them was horrible. Just beware that their "rent to own" program is not flexible. If your student grows in the years that you're renting from them - which will happen with every young student - they'll tack on an additional $500 to the purchase price of the instrument. And that's if you just go up by a single size! Not to mention that the person I dealt with was quite rude from the get-go, hence the low rating.

I could be completely misreading the situation, but based on my brief encounter with the staff at…read morethis location, I would not rent from here. I called ahead to confirm they had a viola available--the gentleman I spoke with was very polite and helpful--and rushed over with my daughter after soccer practice, hoping to arrive before closing. We got there 10-15 minutes before 8 PM. As we pulled up, we saw two employees: one behind the register and one on the sales floor. The woman on the floor looked directly at us through the window, threw up her hands, and appeared to mouth something that resembled obscenities. Her gestures seemed to suggest we should "get the f*ck out," though I admit it's possible I misinterpreted her body language. Or maybe they were just lip-syncing to some hard rap music? Either way, the interaction felt hostile and confusing. I left without entering the store. And look -- I understand how frustrating it is for a customer to come in 10-15 minutes before closing but it still doesn't justify the behavior.

To be honest they're a call center, I'm sure they get their fair share of shitty clientele, but…read morethey shouldn't be leaving that out on the rest of us! I'm getting sick and tired of sitting on hold for 15+ minutes, listening to them pressing buttons in the background of the horrible hold music, and then the only thing they say when they come on the line is "client number!" No "Hello, can I get your client number please?" Nothing, so I feel like I missed the beginning of the conversation, which gets them even more rude because I'm like, "I'm sorry I didn't get that," and they're like, "you're supposed to have your client number ready, call back when you have it ready!" Like woah, I had it ready, you didn't start the call with a greeting, you just blurted out a demand for my number when I've been dissociated for 15 min because of the terrible hold music! Then if I make a request for a ride and it's 1 fucking hour from being 48 hours in advanced, they're like, "nope can't do it, it's not within 48 hours, you'll have to cancel that appointment, what's the next ride you need to request?" or like some of the employees say I can request 3 rides and some say I'm only allowed 2, I never know how many I'm allowed to request, if I ask for more than 2 some are like" oh yeah sure, we do 3," and some are like, "we never allow more than 2" and get pissy about it, so I feel horrible needing help even though I have sometimes up to 5 appointments a week (I'm broken, ok) they need to they need to retrain their staff in empathy and politeness. I won't leave reviews on the drivers part because that's not hopelinks fault that's the fault of the company they enlist to drive for them.
