I tend not to review religious organizations or facilities or groups as, when one is talking about…read moreany matter pertaining to the spiritual, it just seems way more subjective than, say, reviewing a restaurant or store. That said, here are my reasons why, for me and my family, at any rate, this is a wonderful synagogue: 1. They are all-welcoming, of everyone. My hubby is not Jewish. TSHS welcomes all interfaith couples, blended families, the LBGT community (they were very vocal in their support of same sex marriage), everyone and anyone. To me, this is what a religious-based community SHOULD be. 2.This is a community-oriented temple. There are so many opportunities to meet people here and join groups, or simply attend Shabbat services and those at holidays. There are adult-learning classes, a very active single "Tribe" group (they do so many fun activities, I kinda wish I were single again so I could join this group!), groups for teens, book clubs, pot-lucks, Temple trips, and more. In other words, you can do as much or as little as you wish. But there's a LOT to do, if you want. 3. There are two sites - one in Seattle, one in Bellevue - so that makes it a bit more convenient to go. 4. They have awesome preschool and religion/Sunday school programs, and fabulous Bat Mitzvah/Bar Mitzvah training and facilities, and will help you (the parents!) plan these events, every step of the way. 5. There's a focus on community involvement and awareness. I like how there are dialogues with Moslems and Catholics and how there are many inter-faith dialogues and meet-and-greets throughout the year, and how CHurch members come to our services and how we go to theirs. And how there are always opprotunities, through the Temple, to help others in our community (volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens, cleaning parks, clothing drives, etc.). 6. Personally, I like how they have their finger on the pulse of what's going on in the world. This is a very liberal reform congregation, led by a very charismatic senior rabbi and other super rabbis who speak in real-world terms about real-world issues. There's no emphasis on esotheric, abstract issues. The services focus on real, pragmatic themes and current events, and they are able to break down even the most fuzzy theologic material into terms us laymen understand. They have "Rock Shabbat" services where, with electric guitars in hand, they'll sing Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello or The Band tunes, and talk about the politics of the world, and how it relates to Torah. It's all discussed in ways we understand, and in an interactive format that makes us feel a part of the services itself. This is a huge contrast to the very Conservative synagogue of my youth. And I SO welcome these changes!

I love Temple De Hirsch!…read more Even though I have spent most of my time at the Seattle Temple De Hirsch, I attended some services at this Synagogue. The location can be a little confusing, but there is plenty of well lit parking (winter is dark :/). I 100% agree with Nancy, they truly are all welcoming, I enjoy the diverse, genuine atmosphere.

I abided by call out policy, with the one exception of the month I, then my 1 year old daughter (I'm a single mom) had Covid. 2 months later, after I only called out twice (me getting my shift covered was still considered a call out) the month my parents had to move out of state, I called out because my daughter was incredibly sick again. I was told after I called out that I was no longer on the schedule going forward, and needed to have a meeting with the managers. Instead of arranging a meeting, the other manager told me that I was terminated due to my call outs. Having been homeless before, I would rather try and stay outside or in my car than staying here with the way the management is operating things. I would say, still utilize the day center. Jazzy is amazing (if they don't find a reason to fire her, too) Also, manager doesn't even know the textbook difference between empathy and sympathy. That's some basic foundational knowledge working in social services. Sympathy isn't "feeling sorry for someone." My termination text (yes I was terminated over text) wasn't even spelled correctly

I first heard of this organization at the parent's group at work recommending it as an organization to donate goods. I would religiously once a month head to their Issaquah hub on their Saturday morning hours to donate gently used clothes that our little people had outgrown along with toys and other accoutrements. With my then late aged elementary school daughter we were able to volunteer together and it was a great way to bond and show her the impact she could have as were sorting clothes on a Saturday morning or grouping clothes and other items for children many at a similar age to she. Most recently as I've decided to take a break from the hectic world of finance, it has been a great organization to be able to go in for a one time volunteer opportunity during a weekday. It has been great to be surrounded by kind people working together to try to help.

Yes, it's known that what you buy for them, will become too small. When this happens, you may be in a bind, as to where to take your cool, yet ever too small clothing. The answer, donate to Eastside Baby Corner. This also holds true for other baby/toddler/kiddo things, like toys, playsets, baby food (new of course) and other youth related item. One thing to note, they don't actually give your stuff away to families... they work with local non-profits and hospitals to find those in need, the distribute through them. Think of them as the best donated baby stuff distributor ever, with a goal of helping the dis-advantaged. Just a note, they are located within a complex of storage spaces, so it may be off putting at first, but drive right in, the place is well labeled. For the Donation Giver: Washing your baby clothing; Bag everything up, find out when they are open, and stop on by. Try to keep it to kiddo clothing/kiddo things/kiddo stuff, they can't actually do anything with adult clothing, except give to another organization. For the Volunteer: They have plenty of opportunities, including sorting, cleaning clothing, packing, and even repairing old baby toys/seats/gadgets. They always welcome the help, and know you are directly helping to impact the community across the eastside of the Puget sound. I have volunteered here, and they are great! Look, you have old baby stuff, you just can't stand to throw away... instead donate it to Eastside baby.

Not sure if they are affiliated with Sutter Medical's Paws On-Call or if that's Lend A Heart. Their Workplace Wellbeing program brings therapy dogs and other therapy animal teams directly to workplaces to boost morale, satisfaction, and productivity. Four pairs of dogs and their humans came, all female handlers, three male dogs and one female. Didn't catch all the names and exact breeds, but I did get to visit with each of them for a little bit. The dogs' names were Lucky, Harley, Meli (which means "Honey" in Hawaiian) the Goldendoodle and Gorder (sp?). They were each super sweet and very well-behaved, and my mood improved for sure. They were happy to sit, lie down, receive pets and give licks. Such good bois and girl doggos! Wish they could stay longer, or come back soon! Dog ages ranged from around 4 to 7 years old, with some as therapy animals already for 1-5 years. The handlers were local to the greater Sacramento/Yolo area, and usually do visits at hospitals, elementary schools, etc. Some of the pairs knew each other previously and others just met at our onsite location assignment today. After I was dealing with a rudely discriminatory Contemporary choir leader in a Catholic Church, my…read moreson's Cub Scout Den Leader recommended that I "come on down" to the sister Episcopal Church -- Saint Margaret's. It was wonderful advice! Sweet, dedicated members. Their version of contemporary music is terrific. Their band director, Duane, is an open hearted, common sense gentleman that plays a mean guitar. They welcomed me with open arms. I was later recruited by my son's den leader to join the choir. OMG! Another fabulous perspective. The Music Director earned a Doctorate in Vocal Music at the U-Dub while working with us. Ryan can direct many instruments & lead singing in many octaves. He has a great sense of humor & an open mind. He also introduced us to Jazz Compline Services on every Second Sunday during the school year. Very refreshing. I "dragged" my youngest son (who with his Asperger's was being discriminated against at our neighboring Catholic church -- by the same leader) to join the youth program & then choir. He did very well in learning & expanding... also made many friends. The messages, sermons & homilies are entertaining as well as fulfilling. Their Easter Vigil is one of my favorites. The children do the readings. It begins outside, lighting candles, goes into the Bristol Hall for readings, then to baptisms with refreshing our own in the Narthex & on to the Glory & contemporary Easter music by the Altar. Young & old join in the songs & ringing bells in celebration! Now, y'all can tell that I LOVE music. But Saint Margaret's keeps all in mind. There is an early service on Sunday mornings at 7:15 with no music (quick & to God's point!) Then the contemporary Sojourners Praise Band at 8:45. Finishing with the Traditional Choir at 11:00. Communion is even open minded! They have bread for most along with gluten free at need. IOW this is a church for any & all "God Fearing & Loving" types of good people. Redemption is easy to find at Saint Margaret's. Oh & race or base are all welcome. God is here for everyone.

There are fun activities for everyone; singles, families, kids and they welcome everybody, as we are all God's children. There are numerous options for kids of all ages, from nursery care to relevant youth activities. Adult Education is thought provoking and interesting, touching on a wide range of subjects. Lastly, Outreach works with people and issues in the community, close to home, with emphasis on homelessness, hunger and housing. I've been a member here for a long time and cherish my church family. It's easy to get to, especially on Sunday mornings, just off of 405. Now if I could just quit stopping in at Nordstrom Rack on my way home! (The church is 2 blocks from Factoria Mall)

No "Hello, can I get your client number please?" Nothing, so I feel like I missed the beginning of the conversation, which gets them even more rude because I'm like, "I'm sorry I didn't get that," and they're like, "you're supposed to have your client number ready, call back when you have it ready!" Like woah, I had it ready, you didn't start the call with a greeting, you just blurted out a demand for my number when I've been dissociated for 15 min because of the terrible hold music! When I called the "customer service" number, they hung up on me after giving me the run-around. I called my doctor's office in tears and they sent a cab to come get me thankfully. The second time (against my better judgment) I went through them again and they despite repeating the CORRECT hotel address back to me and my caregiver multiple times (and picking us up and dropping us off there multiple times over three days) we were left standing in front of the hotel the day we were to head back home because the driver went to the WRONG motel and then put me in the system as a no show.
