The Sophia Way is a great place to work. I've worked here for almost 3 years and have developed my skills.

I use to pass this place on my way to work every morning at 7am. There would be women with…read morestrollers and small children, leaving Mary's Place. Then, I started stopping in, once a month and giving them a small check...just anything I had. One day, the receptionist made me come in to see the living conditions and tour the facility. After that, I started giving them an even larger amount. I think they do great work. Just recently, I had a large donations of toiletries to drop off. I called and left a message because I would not be able to get there by 3pm. No one returned my phone call, so I went any way. A wonderful young woman, opened the door, when I pressed the buzzer, took my donations, asked me if I wanted a receipt and told me how thankful she was for my donation. I will continue to give to this shelter.

Man - how you gonna give a homeless shelter a bad review?…read more Lemme tell you how - I drove for an hour to drop food off to Mary's Place on a day we were instructed to come down on. Upon arrival they turned me away without taking the goods because of a leak in their storage room. Now lemme tell you something Mary's Place - the homeless don't care to go hungry when you have a leak. I could see inside your building plenty of space to hold goods. Your lack of ingenuity drove me with my goods away to donate elsewhere and while I hate to do something as petty as yelping a homeless shelter (what sort of world is this?) - I have to give you this feedback. Do better, please. Our homeless needs resourcefulness.

Total disrespect from their managing director (Steve Roberts) years ago. I was invited to a…read morecelebration of his years of service and was welcome by a "touchy feely" type of dirty old man. Not respectful and unprofessional. I stopped supporting the folks they are suppose to help and the organization didn't allow me in their building concerned that the homeless folks will retaliate when finding out it was the old man's fault for disrespecting me and not receiving my donations of food, clothing, toiletries, etc. The director tried to cover himself by saying "I'm a touchy feely guy" Really? why don't you keep your paws to yourself. I have zero tolerance and you should seek some type of help with your issues. Of all people, you tell the homeless to respect one another and keep distance. Shame on your actions and hope you are retired from the service.

I can speak only to this organization's handling of volunteer applications. And I wish I could be…read moremore encouraging. My experience was that the staff was not particularly thoughtful nor evenhanded in considering my firm's prospective offer of volunteer support. The Executive Director, who was not there at the time, but who received a complaint from me, wrote a response that did little more than cover his backside and failed to offer anything definitive nor encouraging. So if you are looking for an outstanding nonprofit to support, there are many in the Puget Sound, but this is not one of them.

re: Donations…read more Closed during Holidays, but open during standard business hours. Never have a problem donating food here as they always gladly accept it. Very clean environment, love how busy this place gets.

To be honest they're a call center, I'm sure they get their fair share of shitty clientele, but…read morethey shouldn't be leaving that out on the rest of us! I'm getting sick and tired of sitting on hold for 15+ minutes, listening to them pressing buttons in the background of the horrible hold music, and then the only thing they say when they come on the line is "client number!" No "Hello, can I get your client number please?" Nothing, so I feel like I missed the beginning of the conversation, which gets them even more rude because I'm like, "I'm sorry I didn't get that," and they're like, "you're supposed to have your client number ready, call back when you have it ready!" Like woah, I had it ready, you didn't start the call with a greeting, you just blurted out a demand for my number when I've been dissociated for 15 min because of the terrible hold music! Then if I make a request for a ride and it's 1 fucking hour from being 48 hours in advanced, they're like, "nope can't do it, it's not within 48 hours, you'll have to cancel that appointment, what's the next ride you need to request?" or like some of the employees say I can request 3 rides and some say I'm only allowed 2, I never know how many I'm allowed to request, if I ask for more than 2 some are like" oh yeah sure, we do 3," and some are like, "we never allow more than 2" and get pissy about it, so I feel horrible needing help even though I have sometimes up to 5 appointments a week (I'm broken, ok) they need to they need to retrain their staff in empathy and politeness. I won't leave reviews on the drivers part because that's not hopelinks fault that's the fault of the company they enlist to drive for them.
