The staff are incredibly dedicated and passionate about what they do. Treehouse offers many services to help foster kids have a more stable and normal life. From tutoring and college preparation, to school supplies and clothing, to after school care and summer activities, Treehouse improves the lives of thousands of foster kids and helps meets economic needs that foster parents sometimes cannot. Like most nonprofits, Treehouse can always use help. My (former) workplace ran a clothing drive and then a group of about 10 of us sorted and tagged clothes for the Wearhouse. It was a fulfilling and heartwarming day of service. I would not hesitate to recommend the services this organization provides or suggest it as a nonprofit worthy of your support. But small appliances like microwaves, blenders, lamps, etc. that are not working or incomplete are no longer accepted as scrap. Likewise for scrap metal and plastic hangers. DELAYED REJECTION ENFORCEMENT = CHAOTIC/DISORGANIZED HANGER HANGUP I donated to this Goodwill literally hundreds of times over several years. They had always accepted all manner of scrap electronics, scrap metal, and all clothes hangers. When I tell them that, I'm told this had been the policy for some time, but only now they're beginning to enforce this "new" policy. This is not the first time this has happened. Also I was told hangers should be organized according to the various types of hangers. Huh? I see donations piled high and deep on either side of the two donation lanes in no particular order. And also they load up those blue carts in no particular order. And now they expect everything to be organized, or just hangers? LET US KNOW ON SITE, NOT JUST ON YOUR WEBSITE Now I will have to find someplace else to get rid of scrap small appliances, scrap metal, and plastic hangers, to keep them from going to the landfill. Though it is good that they spell out what they accept and do not accept on their website, it also would be very helpful to stick a sign out where they post their donation hours saying "we are no longer accepting (fill-in).", and leave it there for a while.

I have experienced so many benefits. From having a more positive and empathetic view with regard to people and situations to myself evolving more emotionally and spiritually. This all came faster and easier than I expected. I am immensely looking forward to evolving further. I already see a big change in how I am handling the major stresses in my life. With all the profoundly impacting and worrisome issues within our world along with so many people struggling with mental illness. I feel it is more important now than ever to be embracing this beautiful practice of Transcendental Meditation. Not only was my teacher, Utsav Bajgain, extremely knowledgeable and patient but I also now have these amazing and transformative resources available to me for the rest of my life through the app. This type of support is so very hard to find and simply priceless in today's scary and stressful world. I spoke to the manager who actually more attentive and pleasant than the Redmond store managers. The lay out of this particular Goodwill is ok, the shoes are kept up organized. They have a power strip ready to be used to test out electronics and though I know it's hard to keep the children's section tidied up, it was surprisingly organized. The highlight of my visit here was that I found some good condition Jordan Proto-max 720 sneakers in my size. I'm not a giant sneaker head...just a tiny bit and could tell before looking it up it was a steal. After doing so, I was right - $29.99 but they go for over $130! They may be dead stocked at this point. Needless to say, these were scooped immediately.

I abided by call out policy, with the one exception of the month I, then my 1 year old daughter (I'm a single mom) had Covid. 2 months later, after I only called out twice (me getting my shift covered was still considered a call out) the month my parents had to move out of state, I called out because my daughter was incredibly sick again. I was told after I called out that I was no longer on the schedule going forward, and needed to have a meeting with the managers. Instead of arranging a meeting, the other manager told me that I was terminated due to my call outs. Having been homeless before, I would rather try and stay outside or in my car than staying here with the way the management is operating things. I would say, still utilize the day center. Jazzy is amazing (if they don't find a reason to fire her, too) Also, manager doesn't even know the textbook difference between empathy and sympathy. That's some basic foundational knowledge working in social services. Sympathy isn't "feeling sorry for someone." My termination text (yes I was terminated over text) wasn't even spelled correctly

Sammamish Animal Sanctuary has been on my radar for a minute. I was supposed to attend a goat yoga…read moreclass quite some time ago but had to cancel (boo) so I'm glad I got the chance to come back. My friend and I were trying to find a fun summer activity for the kids and brought up coming here, so we did. It's in a kind of random area in Renton, tucked away and definitely a hidden little gem if you don't already know about them. Parking lot is a tad small and only portable bathrooms are available, but they were clean and they had outdoor sinks for use. It's free to come here which is really cool, but definitely plan to bring at least $5 for animal food. Each pail costs that much, and all profits go back to keeping the farm running. You're able to buy shirts, stuffies, and some other small things as well. The staff are all really nice. They offered us a map which we kindly declined, as it's easy to just follow the path throughout the farm. You start off with looking at cute animals like different birds, bunnies, etc. They have a handful of mini horses that you're not supposed to feed as they can nip, but they were very social and literally came right to us. Of course we all had the most fun with the animals we could feed, which was mostly a variation of different goats. They have some of all sizes and they are all so sweet and have the cutest personalities. I also loved the highland cow, Daisy, but she kept her distance. We also loved the pigs! They also seemed so happy to see people and had their tails wagging. There is another fun area at the end that's essentially a petting zoo that you can walk into and hang out with the smaller goats while they play around and ask for food. One part that we didn't visit was at the far end that had some picnic tables and a small playground set. I'd say the max age for the playground was probably about 2, so I kept my kids away from over there, but it could be fun for the little ones! Overall this was a really fun find and really cool to see the work they're doing here. We'd definitely come back and support!

I volunteered with this sanctuary for years, sometimes nearly four days a week. Based on my…read moreexperience, as well as the experiences of many of my peers, we saw the sanctuary owner often prioritized media attention, money, and public recognition over the wellbeing and health of the animals themselves. There were countless times when multiple volunteers (sometimes six or more) agreed that an animal needed medical attention, yet those concerns were ignored and dismissed by Diane and management. This was incredibly frustrating for those of us who spent significant time directly caring for these loving animals and witnessing their day-to-day condition, to later see them suffer and pass away.
