We happened to already be in the city that day and somehow got lucky finding a reservation close to the time we were already nearby, so we knew we had to take our chance! The whole place is beautiful and has such a cozy, classic Chicago feel. I would absolutely come back, but next time I really want to sit outside because their outdoor patio is gorgeous. The staff was also super friendly and really helpful with recommendations throughout the night. We started with the warm Parker House rolls, which were so soft, fluffy, buttery, and delicious. Then we shared the vodka rigatoni, and the portion was definitely big enough for two people to split. So creamy, comforting, and really good. Of course we had to end with one of their classics, the sticky date cake, and OMG. Soooo good. Warm, rich, sweet, and the perfect way to finish dinner. Definitely worth finally checking off my list, and I'd happily come back again, especially for a patio night!

Perfectly cooked, juicy, seared. Bacon was thick and delicious not overly fatty, not too thick. Pickles were great, and a good amount. Bun was perfect, not too fluffy not too bready. We ordered the calamari and meatballs for appetizers. Both were exceptional. They went quickly. I couldn't get pictures. I had the focaccia with prosciutto which was a suggestion and it was the perfect blend of savory and sweet...fantastic. Likewise, my rigatoni was exceptional. Most of the table had their signature burger and they raved about it. If you're in Chicago looking for really solid Italian food, I highly recommend Bar Sienna.

The chickpea fritters were great too. All in all, good food, though I was unclear about the restaurant's food identity, which was an amalgamation of dishes that didn't feel cohesive. Given how close the tables are to each other, as well as noise level, we could hear others' conversations and were aware that others could hear ours. Service was unremarkable, though the food runners and assistant servers were sweet and engaging. Don't get me wrong, the food was good - it was obvious that a lot of care goes into using proper techniques and fresh ingredients. Perhaps this spot simply needs a clearer identity.

The burger had a lot of toppings, including a sauce and pickled onions and a very good amount of pickles. The Caesar salad honestly was not good, tasted very artificial and I probably would only try their sandwiches or appetizers if I went back. What a mistake! Our waiter was definitely on some sort of stimulent drug. He tried to rush us to order then didn't come back for a long time. We place the order and our food took around 45 min to an hour to get to our table. The waiter came to the table right when the food was dropped off before I could even take a bite. He never came back to the table to check on us. I got the steak frites (medium rare) and the steak was cold to the touch and raw inside. It was so gross that I couldn't eat any of it and told the bus boy to take it off my bill when he came to take our plates. He asked me if I wanted it wrapped up as it was completely untouched and I was like no, thanks. The frites were some dehydrated potato shoe string thing that was extremely over salted and inconsistent texture. Some were crispy and some were soggy. You have to buy bread (there are 2 options) at around $15 each. Luckily there are a ton of better restaurants in the area to get a good meal with decent service.
