I don't like bacon or really pork in general, but the bacon in this mac & cheese brings a robust smokey flavor which elevates the flavor profile. The large classic mac and cheese was great. Good portion size, so definitely enough to share or split across a couple of meals. They use fusili pasta with ample breadcrumbs and seasoning. Below the crunchy top layer, the mac was pleasantly creamy. I also got a Murray's melt, which was a grilled cheese sandwich. It was served on sourdough with cheddar cheese. As a mac and cheese lover, I came with high expectations. I did the build-your-own-mac with mushrooms, broccoli, and chicken ($20 for a large). At first, the guy came out with my order but it was missing the chicken, so then he had to go back and add it. However, upon eating the mac and cheese, I realized it was actually quite good. Nothing that special, but decent. The mushrooms, broccoli, and chicken were all okay quality but could have been more plentiful. After a while, the mac and cheese started to taste a bit more bland though. I think they probably could've tried to add more seasoning or flavor or something in there. The large size was quite a lot for me to finish, since I underestimated how filling it would be. The place itself is set up in 2 parts: one side is for ordering the mac and cheese (they have sandwiches and other things as well), and the other side is like a market where you can buy different cheeses and stuff. So it's definitely a casual but unique environment. The staff are okay friendliness, although the lady taking my order seemed more interested in something on her computer screen than actually listening to my order. Maybe it was just the day that we went, but I didn't think the mac and cheese was anything great. I got the classic Mac and my friend got the French onion Mac, and they were just okay. We also got the cheese curds which were more like mini mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce on the side. I would get the cheese curds again. The Murray's Cheese continues to take over Bleecker St by adding a third business in the old Amy's Bread space on the corner that just closed very recently. Following the OG and the restaurant concept next door, this one is fast casual and just serves the one thing in their name. You can pick from a bunch of different sizes and then add some preset toppings for a signature Mac, or just customize it however you want. I tried the classic, and just to be extra, added a big 4 oz ball of burrata on top for $5 extra. It was excellent, partly because of the great radiatori shape they use for the pasta. I also tried the Buffalo Chicken Mac which had some real nice kick and lots of tang from the blue cheese. This is heavy stuff, so be prepared to eat when you come and you will leave very satisfied. read more

Murray's melt is buttery, crispy, and most importantly cheesy! It definitely delivers on the cheese pull everyone's after. I highly recommend getting their tomato soup to pair with it! The cheese itself was a mix of yellow and white cheddar. It's not the sharpest or saltiest cheese. More mild, perfect for kids. Spent a 1-day trip in NYC with my best friend & our 2 kids (pre-teen & teen). My best friend's kid really wanted to go back here since they had visited with ther dad. Came here when they first opened a few years ago and returned a couple times over since in the last few months. I gotta say their Mac and cheese is definitely delicious but they shine with their customer service and employees. I ordered an item requesting it be made vegetarian which the employee didn't hear and so when I got my food and realized there was meat in it, asked for another one. I had gotten burrata with it and had unfortunately mixed it in too but he was really gracious and apologetic and got me a new one immediately. I didn't get another burrata which I was bummed about but I was too shy to ask after he'd already gotten me a new bowl of Mac and cheese. I instead thought I'd send an email and just ask for burrata credit for the next time I came. They were kind enough to offer me that and when I came into the store they gave me a discount on my choice for Mac and cheese. The employee at the register was really friendly and actually helped me pick out a flavor. As for the Mac and cheese, it is really good and there's plenty of choices to pick between. The BBQ one oof I still think about to this day and with the burrata it is milky, cheesy goodness. The way the pasta is cooked is a perfect cross of almost al dente but not quite and has the perfect bite to it. It comes in biodegradable cups which is wonderful to see for the environment and is also really small size wise (not bulky) so easy to transport if you're taking it to go. My only qualm is that they're really very pricey. About five bucks for the burrata (whereas you can get some homemade huge burratas from Italian stores for far cheaper) and a range of prices for the Mac and cheese according to size but still not quite affordable if you're trying to fill up. read more

Can this place not be just a pop up and be permanent? There are a good number of places to grab Mac n cheese in the city now, while they're all quite good, this place definitely has quality. There's a few sizes you can choose from, but it is pretty heavy, a small is pretty filling. There are a few tables and some bar seats if you want to eat in. You can build your own Mac by choosing what cheeses and what to mix in or they have some set already that you can choose from. We tried the French onion, buffalo, and lobster Mac. The French onion was a good balance of flavors between the bacon and caramelized onions, definitely on the saltier side, if that's what you're into then this is the one for you. The buffalo Mac was super rich in flavor, very heavy blue cheese flavor, definitely spicy, but so yummy! The lobster Mac was solid, the lobster pieces are small and fine but you get a lot of it. There aren't too many places in NYC where we've had a legit, satisfying mac and cheese....so we don't often seek it out. However, we we were particularly excited when Murray's opened up a mac pop up shop, because, y'know....it's Murray's!! It definitely did not disappoint. We ordered the lobster mac and french onion mac per the staff's recommendation. Both were extra cheesy and full of flavor, but tasted quite different. The lobster was cooked down in the cheese sauce before the macaroni was thrown in, which really brought out the sweetness of the meat (although, we would have liked to see a few more chunks in there for the price!). The french onion came with heavenly chunks of bacon, which you can never go wrong with. The staff was also very friendly, which was a refreshing experience at a west village fast casual spot lol. If you don't want to choose your own items, you can choose a signature macs ranging from - Murray's Classic - Carbonara (fontina, mozzarella, pancetta and green peas) - Buffalo Chicken (cheddar-coated noodles, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing and blue cheese) - French Onion (caramelized onions, bacon bits, gruyère and raclette cheeses) - BBQ (pepper-jack cheese, chicken, peppadew peppers, crispy onions and BBQ sauce). I couldn't decide so I ordered 2 different snack bowls. Yes, it was too much pasta but both bowls were so good. 1) Buffalo Chicken - had a kick but it was not very cheesy and everything blended well for me. The kick overwhelmed my taste buds that I switched to the French Onion. 2) French Onion - can it be that good? Yes, I was also craving bacon that day. This one is cheesy and really reminds me of the French onion soup without the liquids. After a while, it got too cheesy for me. Switching between the 2 bowls helped. 3) I added the burrata which came with olive oil to the buffalo chicken bowl. It was ok. The cheese was a bit cold and would have been better if it was served at room temperature. 4) I added the soup which was a cauliflower soup. It was surprisingly good. I definitely would order it again. 5) I tried my friend's bowl - carbonara - that was pretty good and you get a vegetable (peas!). There is a restroom which is relatively clean.
