As a mac and cheese lover, I came with high expectations. I did the build-your-own-mac with mushrooms, broccoli, and chicken ($20 for a large). At first, the guy came out with my order but it was missing the chicken, so then he had to go back and add it. I thought that would be a quick process but ended up taking a while, so by the time I finally got my proper mac and cheese, I already had a not-so-good first impression. However, upon eating the mac and cheese, I realized it was actually quite good. Nothing that special, but decent. The mushrooms, broccoli, and chicken were all okay quality but could have been more plentiful. After a while, the mac and cheese started to taste a bit more bland though. I think they probably could've tried to add more seasoning or flavor or something in there. The large size was quite a lot for me to finish, since I underestimated how filling it would be. The place itself is set up in 2 parts: one side is for ordering the mac and cheese (they have sandwiches and other things as well), and the other side is like a market where you can buy different cheeses and stuff. So it's definitely a casual but unique environment. The staff are okay friendliness, although the lady taking my order seemed more interested in something on her computer screen than actually listening to my order. There are a few seats by the window available to sit and eat. Also, one other minor point to note is that they had a sign saying there would be a live mozzarella pulling demonstration Fri-Sun at 1pm, so we waited there for it, but it never happened... disappointing. Overall, the mac and cheese here is decent but honestly not much better than typical mac and cheese at other places.
This place is a gem. So glad that it existed! I love cheese. Cheese are the best. And there's a small walk-in place for a quick bite of mac and cheese without dining at an hour long restaurant??? Unreal. I had the classic Mac snack size for $6. I was in a rush and the cashier said it'll be ready in 7 minutes. I was checking the time nonstop. It was really ready in 7 minutes. Woohoo! Sat down and devour it within 5 minutes and left. So great! I love everything about the Mac except for the breadcrumbs because I keep inhaling it down my throat and it made me cough like crazy. Can't wait to go back and try the Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. Drooling already!

We also got the cheese curds which were more like mini mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce on the side. I would get the cheese curds again. I liked that it was a casual location when in the hustle and bustle of everything. There was no one else in the shop besides being there at prime time on Friday. We wait about 10 minutes after ordering for our food to come out. The staff was very friendly. The location is perfect and the cheese shop it is associated with is also perfect. If you are around, I'd definitely pop your head into the cheese shop next door.
Good Mac & Cheese in a clean no-frills setting. We enjoyed our quick lunch ordering two different Mac & Cheese varieties. Both bowls were tasty. The room has a few tables and a counter with seats along the Bleeker Street windows. The counter person was pleasant.
Easily one of the best mac and cheese I've ever had, and I have had A LOT. I wanted to try this place for a while and I was so happy I had the chance to finally try it. We went and it happened to be 15 minutes before they close, I can't remember the exact time but it seems kind of early. The guy working there though was extremely nice and still let us get mac and let us eat it there while he was closing up. He was super friendly. We got the snack size of classic, buffalo chicken, and bbq chicken. The snack size was actually pretty large. My favorite was the classic, is was perfectly creamy and cheesy and had a delicious bread crumb topping!
The pasta is cooked perfectly. It has a nice bite to it and it comes out hot. They don't use a microwave which is great. They have about six/eight options to choose from but I went for the classic. It was really good. At first I felt like it was too salty but that went away. I asked for hot sauce and it wasn't spicy at all just tangy and salty. I got three smallest size and had leftovers. It tasted better the next day which is always a treat. I would come again but keep sticking to classic because of how rich gge dish is. Th hey should also get better hot sauce and work on the presentation of their counter. I saw some rags and cleaning towels under a tray of mac and cheese. Friendly customer service and a chill vibe is here. Mera's Tip: Skip the Kraft and come here
I'm a huge mac and cheese fan and a huge cheese fan in general, so I stopped by while checking out Murray's cheese shop. I was blown away by the french onion mac here and still crave it often. It's kinda pricey for the portions but you can tell their cheese is really high quality and all the flavors together just take you to heaven. I don't even like the shape of pasta they use normally, but it didn't even matter bc it was so good. Can't wait to come back and try other mac n cheese flavors!
I spent a whole day trying out all the grilled cheeses in the area and this place by far has the best grilled cheese I've ever had (not including the Melt Shop of course). Murray's melt is buttery, crispy, and most importantly cheesy! It definitely delivers on the cheese pull everyone's after. I highly recommend getting their tomato soup to pair with it! The cheese itself was a mix of yellow and white cheddar. It's not the sharpest or saltiest cheese. More mild, perfect for kids. It needs something extra to it like adding a tomato or a tomato soup dipping situation for an adult's taste buds. The shop itself is super cute with a whole white and yellow cheese theme. Very cute for social media. They have benches outside and some tables inside. The melt only set me back $7.50 I think. Eat it as soon as possible so it doesn't lose its crisp!
Got the Truffle Mac that was refrigerated and ready to bake at home since that wasn't an option already baked and it was amazing! Can't wait to try the others! I will definitely be back.
I find it that I relate to Guy Fieri when it comes to Mac and cheese since I'm always on the search to find the perfect Mac and cheese even when they all begin tasting the same. I was super excited to try Murray's pop up since I've heard wonderful praise for their cheese itself. When I first took a bite of the classic Mac and cheese with the burrata on top, OMG my heart stopped figuratively speaking of course...for now. It was delicious and heavenly, everything I could wish for! The burrata took it to a whole new level where it brought out a creamy and sweet addition to the savory cheesy pasta. The French onion Mac and cheese was too rich to my liking and was very salty unfortunately. The price was definitely not a pocket change kind of deal but you do pay for the name and experience to try it!
I ordered the Hungry Mac size. Probably about 2 cups and a little more of Mac& Cheese. This is $16 - but to be substantial because this is my dinner anyway, I added bacon, broccoli, extra cheese, and pickled paradew peppers at $3 more each. This ran me $28. It was very good but I thought a little expensive. This place is like eating at the new trend thing nowadays "rice bowl with items on top". Except this is Mac & cheese with items you want added. I paid for 2 others with me and our beverages.i was surprised with my bill. It is good and good cheese but even at $2 added for items for the smaller bowls for others I got, I was very surprised. The $2 pease in a little container because the person I took with me wanted the lease separately showed me how he gulped it in his little kid mouth I one toss. That was $2. And that was pease. But it was good. Cheese is expensive indeed. But maybe the pease and other additions could be a little less. Because my hungry bowl size was $28 for 1 person. And that is not the biggest bowl. It is the second to the largest.
If you like cheese, you can't go wrong at Murray's!! Only outdoor seating when I went in mid October. We got the classic medium size and was able to share between 2 people. Will definitely have to be back to try the other flavors!
Spent a 1-day trip in NYC with my best friend & our 2 kids (pre-teen & teen). My best friend's kid really wanted to go back here since they had visited with ther dad. When I browsed their menu online, I was in shock at the prices. However, once in the store (right next door to cheese shop) I just gave in and told myself to order & enjoy. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese, and my kid ordered their bbq mac & cheese. OMG!!! You could tell how fresh and homemade their pasta was. Very filling and perfectly cooked. Spoke to their employee Davon & was informed that they do make their pasta fresh daily. Again, it was very noticeable. And the lobster that was in it was perfectly portioned and was fresh as well. Would def recommend making a stop in here when in town. Also, fyi, a quick 25 min walk away from the 9/11 memorial.

Their main food counter was closed for the night, so we ordered at the store's check out counter. The workers were helpful in giving us recs + patient with our ordering + requests. They didn't even kick us out when we overstayed (to 8:22pm), even though they close at 8pm. They have 3 sections of counter seating + a few tables, which were stacked up when we arrived. As a mac & cheese connoisseur and being from the south, I can say definitively Murray's Mac & Cheese is phenomenal. Honestly, kinda surprised by the critics who say it's mediocre mac & cheese... I tried the French Onion Mac... incredible. We had to wait ~10 minutes on a Thursday evening for a large. Well worth it. I don't like bacon or really pork in general, but the bacon in this mac & cheese brings a robust smokey flavor which elevates the flavor profile. This smokiness combined with the caramelized onions and the array of cheeses... truly perfection. I will be returning to try their other mac and cheese options and their grilled cheese! I cannot recommend Murray's enough. Bravo! read more

Saw this new joint on a cooking channel a few days ago & after watching it on TV we had to give this place a go !!! Love the entire theme & concept !!! Think about it !! These guys own the Fancy Smancy Cheese store next door !!!! It's a no brainer !! Can't believe it took them this long to figure out what to do with all the ends of the cheeses !!! Grate them up & make the best Mac & Cheese ever !!!! Me & the wife went with the Carbonara & the French Onion .... small size @ $ 7.00 bucks each !! Just a $ 2.00 up charge from the Classic !!!! Very tasty with fresh ingredients!!! Very friendly & helpful servers / cooks !!! Would have been a 5 star rating however our Mac & Cheeses were a Lil on the dry side .... they needed a Lil more béchamel sauce / cheese sauce added !!! Also this is Mac & Cheese Mr. Murray it's not complicated like your High End Cheese business next door with your snobby nose in the air customers .... YOU NEED TO CARY NORMAL BEVERAGES.... LIKE COKE, PEPSI & SNAPPLE !!!! Just saying those high end beverages don't pair with Mac & Cheese !!! Having a Diet Coke would have made me & the wide much more happier !!! Definitely overhyped. Went here after seeing the Insider feature video. I would say it was a good cheese pull video but it was a little underwhelming. Got the buffalo mac n cheese which had a good base flavor but not really screaming with flavor. Bit of salt could've gone a long way. The noodles was perfectly cooked tho, i just wished there was more seasoning on it. Will try to give it another shot next time. read more

Absolutely amazing!! The food is great; the staff are friendly; the prices are appropriate!! I will definitely be a regular here! If you are gluten intolerant, they have tasty choices for you as well. So when we walked in, our option for seating was the bar at the window looking out at the street. Passersby were CRACKING US UP. They'd peak in the window and then at the shop sign and smile, ooh and aww, turn to the friend and comment, look back at us. It was like they were equally amazed at what a great idea this place is!! First of all: thanks to Yelp for helping manage my food adventures while traveling. I am currently in NY, and had this place bookmarked. It's a popup with no exterior signage, so seeing photos posted on Yelp helped me identify the location. Upon entering and throughout my brief visit, the cashier was extremely friendly and helpful. I got a snack size Classic mac. I would say "snack" is a good way to put it, and I appreciate the many different size options. The mac was flavorful, and already came with breadcrumbs, which I love! I wanted to start with the basic, but other Signature flavors sounded really good, and you can also build your own. read more

I got their signature French onion Mac and cheese - gruyere, fontina and caramelized onion. I added the BBQ sauce. This was soo delicious and satisfied my cheesy Carby craving for sure. They have various sizes all fairly priced. Great spot for a quick bite. Definitely recommend read more
Can this place not be just a pop up and be permanent? There are a good number of places to grab Mac n cheese in the city now, while they're all quite good, this place definitely has quality. There's a few sizes you can choose from, but it is pretty heavy, a small is pretty filling. There are a few tables and some bar seats if you want to eat in. You can build your own Mac by choosing what cheeses and what to mix in or they have some set already that you can choose from. We tried the French onion, buffalo, and lobster Mac. The French onion was a good balance of flavors between the bacon and caramelized onions, definitely on the saltier side, if that's what you're into then this is the one for you. The buffalo Mac was super rich in flavor, very heavy blue cheese flavor, definitely spicy, but so yummy! The lobster Mac was solid, the lobster pieces are small and fine but you get a lot of it. All three flavors were very yummy. I'll definitely be back, if you're not into carbs they have a broccoli and cauliflower option, they also have gluten free pasta as well. read more

Love me some good Mac & cheese so naturally when I heard about this place I had to check it out. First time around Classic Mac w pesto sauce & the Burrata Omgggg wow great tasting pesto sauce , amazing Burrata so fresh & tasty. Also tried the Buffalo Mac w chorizo, cheddar & broccoli this was very good as well. Next time gave the Carbonara Mac a try .. another delicious tasting combo really good the cheese mix w pancetta the peas I could do with out. French onion Mac was also good, not a normal combo here but very tasty. Small location with limited seating, service is quick price wise ouch it hurts a bit got the 16oz hungry man size both times it is the better size but after added taxes or extras you are looking at $35-42 dollars for your order a bit steep but the Mac is delicious worth the try. read more

There aren't too many places in NYC where we've had a legit, satisfying mac and cheese....so we don't often seek it out. However, we we were particularly excited when Murray's opened up a mac pop up shop, because, y'know....it's Murray's!! It definitely did not disappoint. We ordered the lobster mac and french onion mac per the staff's recommendation. Both were extra cheesy and full of flavor, but tasted quite different. The lobster was cooked down in the cheese sauce before the macaroni was thrown in, which really brought out the sweetness of the meat (although, we would have liked to see a few more chunks in there for the price!). The french onion came with heavenly chunks of bacon, which you can never go wrong with. The staff was also very friendly, which was a refreshing experience at a west village fast casual spot lol. Definitely will be coming back here for another cheat day meal soon! read more

Pleasant creative shop next to Murray's Cheese Shop. Very neat and satisfyingly simple - just pasta and melted cheese. Pasta is perfectly cooked al dente and fresh cheese blends perfectly. I'll definitely stop by again! The smallest size (snack mac) is big enough to fill you up and get you going until dinner. read more
There is something just so comforting about Mac & Cheese during the middle of a busy week. Although, Mac & Cheese evokes such a nostalgic feeling of care free youth Murray's, puts an adult twist on the classic. So run, don't walk to go get some. There are various selection besides the classic Mac you can get a pre-set, or build your own. I selected the buffalo chicken ranch and added caramelized onions. My husband customized his pasta with basil pesto sauce, roasted tomatoes & chicken. Both were delicious. Establishment is spacious for a sit down bowl. Various sizes available, prices range from $5-$22 Staff is kind and efficient. Super casual establishment. Go try some, you will not be sorry. read more
Having already eaten two slices of pizza I walked by Murrays cheese shop's Mac and Cheese and had to stop for some. I ordered the buffalo Mac and Cheese and was not disappointed. The mac and cheese had a great ratio of chicken to pasta to cheese and was extremely rich in flavor. I ordered the smallest portion, which was enough to split between two people. The shop also has a variety of other pre thought out orders that you can choose from or make your own creation. Great gem that I would absolutely go back to. read more

Beginning of March 2019, I met my friend for dinner at Murray's Mac & Cheese. Trying to find this place was a hunt for me since my friend said this place is so new that it doesn't have an address yet and look for Murray's Cheese Bar at 264 Bleecker St then walk a few stores down. I finally found it and glad I did. The restaurant still had a sign on the front window stating that the space for rent which confused me. However, all the tables and seats are full with patrons inside the brightly-lit store. There are a few tables and chairs but not enough for the huge dinner crowds. Good luck in trying to find a spot. There are 4 bowl sizes: snack (8 oz), meal (12 oz), hungry (16 oz) and family (28 oz). You can personalize with a selection of cheeses, veggies, meats, sauces and toppings. For $5, you can add a Murray's 4 oz burrata. For $5, you can add a salad or soup. If you don't want to choose your own items, you can choose a signature macs ranging from - Murray's Classic - Carbonara (fontina, mozzarella, pancetta and green peas) - Buffalo Chicken (cheddar-coated noodles, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing and blue cheese) - French Onion (caramelized onions, bacon bits, gruyère and raclette cheeses) - BBQ (pepper-jack cheese, chicken, peppadew peppers, crispy onions and BBQ sauce). I couldn't decide so I ordered 2 different snack bowls. Yes, it was too much pasta but both bowls were so good. 1) Buffalo Chicken - had a kick but it was not very cheesy and everything blended well for me. The kick overwhelmed my taste buds that I switched to the French Onion. 2) French Onion - can it be that good? Yes, I was also craving bacon that day. This one is cheesy and really reminds me of the French onion soup without the liquids. After a while, it got too cheesy for me. Switching between the 2 bowls helped. 3) I added the burrata which came with olive oil to the buffalo chicken bowl. It was ok. The cheese was a bit cold and would have been better if it was served at room temperature. 4) I added the soup which was a cauliflower soup. It was surprisingly good. I definitely would order it again. 5) I tried my friend's bowl - carbonara - that was pretty good and you get a vegetable (peas!). There is a restroom which is relatively clean.
