I was excited to bring my wife here for some food. We ordered plantains and they brought us a plate of brown rocks (I'm being hyperbolic). I've never had harder plantains in my life. They seemed like they were cooked the previous day, left out over night, and reheated for us. I also ordered a whiskey with cranberry, and it was straight up sugar water with food coloring. The oxtail was salty and the flavor was not pleasing. It was actually gross. The cabbage was overcooked. The only reason they got 4 stars is because they are always out of Mac N cheese other than that I love their food. The Mac is somewhat my favorite because it's just different. They fry their plantains beautifully caramelized buttery and sweet. The black beans and rice are so flavorful and the jerk chicken (yummy) taste so authentic, moist and tender. First of all, CLAP CLAP CLAP for the staff that were at the door checking for masks and taking temperatures before patrons enter. First time ever seeing a restaurant do this and making sure social distancing is enforced. CDC guidelines in full affect!!!! As a visitor from out of town this was great to see. This restaurant is in a plaza so there's free parking, it looks small from outside but the indoor is so big. Downside is that it's not well lit in the dining/bar area, I literally had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. There's west/East African, Caribbean & American food on the menu. We were seated by a waitress that seemed tired and didn't want to be bothered. She brought the menus and left. Didn't even ask us if we wanted anything to drink or if she should bring us water. She was gone for quite some time. When she came back she didn't even apologize and proceeded as if nothing was wrong. While she was taking our orders she would look away at times like she's in a hurry or something. Never told us her name and we didn't even bother to ask. There were four of us. Two ordered "Tilapia dinner with sides of rice/beans, plantain & cabbage and the other two ordered "Jerk chicken dinner with sides of fries, Mac n cheese, plantain and rice/beans". We ordered our drinks at the same time as well. Took about 20-30mins for our food to come. The music was playing a bit too loud and we had to talk loudly even though we were right next to each other. Felt like we were at the club. Besides eating in, there's also a game area, live band area and apparently before COVID it was considered a lounge/dancing spot. P.S. The restroom can use some renovation. Besides that I'd say that the food was okay and we got more than enough and it's reasonably priced. We went our aunts bday and it took over and hour to get drinks we arrived at 6:45 and we sat down and ordered drinks took a hour to get our drinks and two hours for food. All I got was amazing amount of fat and a ugly amount of actual goat meat. As you can see from the pic that's the amount of fat I got. Where's all the lean meat at? The prices on the menu are not the prices on they charge you. At the end when we got our receipt the food was $10 more than what was listed on the menus.
