Stopped in here as I was told by Killarney native and food blogger Miriam from Bakemystyle that no trip to Killarney is complete without a stop into Murphy's. Really interesting and exciting selection of flavours and I love that most of them have an Irish twist. Isabel, the women who served us, was so friendly lovely and helpful, she offered us several tries of flavours and flavour combinations before we chose our cups (option to have cup or a cone). The dingle gin flavour was so good and sooo ginny but it was too early in the day for us to go for a full scoop. My husband went for a large cup and had sea salt, butterscotch and honeycomb and said they were all really delicious. I had a medium cup of caramelised brown bread, marmalade and silky chocolate. Best ice cream I have ever had in my long, overweight and overfed American life. I don't know what kind of grass these Kerry cows are eating, but I'd imagine it's brighter than that neon plastic Easter-basket filler. In any event, they are turning it into some damn delicious milk and cream. Dingle Gin ice cream is delicious and unforgettable. Sorbets were nice, too. Super friendly and helpful staff. We visited Ireland in March, so most days were quite chilly, but that could only deter me from eating ice cream for so long! I'm so glad that when I finally caved, it was to enjoy the handcrafted desserts at Murphy's! The flavors (about 12) were all very interesting and local themed. I've always been a fan of Murphy's, being an infrequent visitor to their Dublin ice-cream parlour. After this occasion to Murphy's in Killarney, I was left teeny bit disappointed. It was pricey for the amount of ice cream we got. Now I can't remember precisely the amount I paid for two small cones, but it was upwards of 7 EUR. Regarding the flavours, of the three flavours between two cones, all but one was a bit of a let-down if I'm honest. The lemon curd was not very lemony and the toasted oats was just ok. The chocolate flavour was the highlight. I would order that one again for sure if I find I'm back in a Murphy's. Staff were nice and friendly, as usual :) read more

Excellent! Made from the milk of the famous Kerry cows, Murphy's ice cream is tough to beat. Paired with their fresh organic coffee, I couldn't have thought of a better post-dinner digestive. And hey, they're open till 10:30 pm, so you can even enjoy some live Irish music at one of the nearby pubs beforehand! I had the honeycomb and Irish coffee combo, which balanced a tenderly sweet and rich, robust whiskey flavoring. Other milder flavors I tried were their sea salt and butterscotch, which were utterly fantastic as well. Yes, to be honest with you, the prices are quite high for ice cream, and the scoops are not really that large. However, the quality is outstanding and you do taste it! Besides the usual flavours some special signature flavours are offered, and all of them are truly delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they also let you try flavours before you buy. Besides regular scoops of ice cream you can also order special cups where the ice cream is mixed together with some other ingredients. Although those cups look nice and taste good, personally, I recommend to enjoy the pure flavours because they taste so exceptionally good. read more

Best ice cream ever! My hubby and I were visiting downtown Killarney on our way back from Ross Castle. I was craving something sweet, and this place was just the ticket! The staff here are top notch! They let my hubby and I try multiple ice cream samples (mind you they were HEAPING samples). Every sample was so delicious, I could have ordered a 10-scoop ice cream cone! First off, Murphy's in Killarney is very upbeat and wonderful with unique and great tasting ice creams. One particular unique flavor was lavender The store's Irish dance beat music and youthful Irish serving staff made the experience fun. Also the staff are very friendly and helpful. Lastly, when signing for my purchase on my debit card, the waitress innocently said "...my signature was quite long..." and I said "...well, that's my 'John Hancock'" ,,,too which the other waitresses 'giggled' in realizing the historical reference. read more

Of course, I had read the reviews prior to arriving in Ireland, and was not disappointed with my choices. The girl working the day I visited was extremely friendly, knowledegable, and had excellent customer service skills. She struck up a conversation while I was sampling a few of their flavors and even spoke some French with me after I told her that I have been living in France. The ice cream is super good, made from milk from Kerry cows (only 1000 in the world!). They also use pastured chicken eggs, organic sugar, etc. No junk in this stuff.
